"We should've had a gnomefest!" - nicole |

I KNEW Jerome Bettis was a FREAKIN' DOUCHEBAG. I KNEW IT!
Can't write much because I'm at work. I'll get home late tonight (I'll be at the rally regardless) but I'll definitely put something up. When I put things off, I tend to lose the spark. I made a playlist on the Pod last night of horrible and atrocious but gorgeous end-of-season, start-of-life songs (mostly end-of-season ones) and nearly started crying again when I read Bob Smizik's article on the fans. Usually I can't stand that guy, but do we love them or what? We do. We love them. (But there are other factors involved. Granted, Pens fans are the only ones who know what 'loyalty' truly is, but. I'm nitpicking.)
Bettis, that SHITHEAD, turned around and is supporting a plan for a slots casino on the North Side. Now, granted, I DON'T want ANY slots here, they're going to happen and the Pens' survival here depends on it. (Sick world.) The guy's pledging money for an arena, but he's gonna give $7.4 mil over 30 years. We need it now, asswipe! There is absolutely no more discussion being held! It's needed now or you can shove it up your ass! He knows that, though, I'm sure. And if he were to get it, and the Pens were to be sold, he'd say, "Oh well, I tried," when he (AND BETTIS) know full well that the Pens will leave unless the majority of the expenses are covered.
ASSHOLE ASSHOLE ASSHOLE. I KNEW that guys from the other sports hated each other. It's gotta be true. Jerome, you DICK.
Negative energy, away!
The game was fantastic. I didn't know how I would start an entry about it, and decided on
:deep breath:
but that'll come tomorrow (or tonight). It was bliss. For the end-of-season highlight reel, which they play at the finale of every game (we beat the hell out of that rat Garth Snow and the Islanders 6-1, BTW), last year they used "Dare You To Move" by Switchfoot. That was plenty inspiring. This year - as me, Julie, and Tammy were standing up, and our cheers were dying down - they used "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel. I JUST downloaded that ish a month ago after hearing it on that commercial for the first time in ever, and thought, "Well this is just gorgeous. I love it for college." I love it because of the line "'Son,' he said, 'Grab your things, I've come to take you home." It reminded me of going to Canada, because it's like they're saying "You should have been born here. Come on over, Socialist-in-the-making." But now I think of it as symbolic towards Crosby - imagine the reception he's going to get going home to Nova Scotia. And I really hope he's had a wonderful time, despite everything. Well it could mean a million things - it's symbolic for all of the players. It's symbolic for us. It's symbolic towards the team and its fans - they've come to take us home!
I feel extra bad being on here while I'm supposed to be working, so here's the words and that's that.
"Solsbury Hill" Peter Gabriel
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve Had to listen, had no choice I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart going boom, boom, boom "Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."
To keepin' silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut So I went from day to day Though my life was in a rut 'Til I thought of what I'd say Which connection I should cut I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart going boom, boom, boom "Hey," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."
When illusion spin her net I'm never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me Today I don't need a replacement I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart going boom, boom, boom "Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."
