7:53pm: It's all fun and games until someone gets poked in the knuckle
You wouldn't believe how much that can actually hurt!

I was at the business end of a wooden boken last night, and the tip popped me right below the big knuckle of my right index finger. There isn't a visible bruise, but it stings like hell, even now. And it's more than enough to make me forget the embarrassing shinai-burn on my forehead.

Yes... some days you're the opponent, other days, you're just the target...

But on the brighter side, my review at work is done, and it's been a week since I had my last pill. So far, there's been no blood and all my tests have come back negative. There has been mucous, though... so I'm being watchful. And I'm praying this doesn't mean it's only a matter of time before symptoms return in full. For the time being, I can chalk it up to the stress of having my review at work.

And yes, I do find having my review far more stressful than having my knuckle popped by a wooden boken or having my forehead grazed with a shinai. The former has me shaking in my chair, almost on the verge of tears. The latter just has me saying, 'ow. My hand hurts...' every few hours.

Much easier to deal with. Much, much easier to deal with.
