: Date Wine: Good for What Ails Ya
I have pretty much been sick in bed all weekend.
Yes, I finally have a holiday weekend, have a few days off of work, and I spend every last one of them feeling like crap...
No, I don't think I have the swine flu. It feels a lot more like the bad bug I had during my senior year of college. Let's just hope this one doesn't last as long or knock me on my ass quite as hard.
The following is a conversation from last night. Any former zomgcrack player will laugh their head off at this. All others will... also laugh their head off at this.
Me: Mom, do we have any Nyquil?
Mom: No, and remember you're on those pills. You can't just take anything while you're on them. I can't have anything on mine.
Me: They're not the same as your pills. The only restrictions from the pharmacy were taking antacids within a certain time of taking them, and not taking anti-inflammatories. Nyquil is neither of those things!!
Mom: You never checked with the doctor. You can't just take something!
Me: The pills are not like yours! For God sakes, I can DRINK when I'm on them!! And you know what, that would sure open up my sinuses! AND put me to sleep too!
Mom: ... Do you want your wine or that other bottle?
Me: Wait a second... you won't let me take Nyquil. But you're offering me alcohol?
Mom: ... Yes.
Me: ... I'll take the date wine. Add sugar.
... And well, it worked like a charm. Too bad it's not a cure I can repeat in the morning before work.
