: I think I need a black and blue belt first
I'm testing tonight for my green belt in Kendo! And I'm very excited, but also very nervous.
Last week, I had one of the best fights in my life. I was really showing everything that I had learned. This week's class, however, I must have looked like a fucking white belt out there. I just wasn't focused. Maybe it was because I was tired. Maybe it was because my mind was distracted by my upcoming vacation and everything else I have to do before I leave... Maybe I was just having a very very off night.
I scored maybe one or two good hits, and almost every block I made was with my arm, not my sword. By the end of my last fight, I just held my arms up in defeat and watched as they speared me in the chest a couple more times. I was just done.
So now, both my arms hurt when I move them. I've got knots on both my forearms. Both my elbows are bruised up. And I'm testing tonight.
This is going to be fun. Fun in a semi-sarcastic, semi-masochistic way, of course.
