: If thou waketh the dragon, thou receiveth the fire.
I really hope there's no more snow in the forecast. But if there is even a chance of snow tonight... I'm turning my phone off.
Why should I do that, you may ask?
Because of the following scenario that took place yesterday morning:
5:30 a.m. - sleeping peacefully. Dreaming about bratwurst sandwiches of all things.
5:33 a.m. - cell phone rings.
5:33:05 a.m. - WTF?! who the hell is calling me at 5:30?!
5:33:06 a.m. - Screw it, they can leave a message.
5:34 a.m. - They left a message.
5:34:01 a.m. - Screw it, I'll check it in an hour when my alarm goes off. I'm going back to sleep.
5:40 a.m. - Kitchen phone rings.
5:40:02 a.m. - WTF???
5:45 a.m. - cell phone rings again!
5:45:04 a.m. - Maybe this is actually an emergency...
5:45:05 a.m. - Maybe my ill aunt is in trouble or something, and Dad's cell phone was out of battery and shut down, and so they need to reach someone in the family and this is the only number they have other than his! Maybe this is something important!!! I mean surely the calls to the kitchen and my cell must be from the same person. It must be a real emergency!!
5:45:06 a.m. - Where is that fucking phone. I hear it...
5:45:07 a.m. - I found it! Just as it stopped ringing.
5:45:22 a.m. - Check voicemail.
5:46 a.m. - 'The Dallas area is experiencing icy conditions. Please allow extra time for your morning commute.'
5:46:01 a.m. - *blink blink*
5:46:02 a.m. - Did I hear that correctly?
5:47 a.m. - Kitchen phone rings again.
5:47:05 a.m. - WTF?!
5:50 a.m. - attempt to go back to sleep, knowing full well that by now you're awake and might as well be using this extra time for that morning commute.
Note to self: If there's ever the threat of icy conditions the next morning... put cell phone on vibrate.
Current Lips: orange and purple and yellow... splotches.
