don't call the doctor just yet. 'cause our anorexic budget is eating again. let me explain:
when we lost our "a" camera on fri on friday, we inquired about a repair only to be told that it'd be a week before we could even get an estimate - which would have deprived us of the ability to shoot in houston.
we couldn't have that. so, we bought a camera. a $3,000 "loaner" camera. and we made arrangements to have our "b" camera shipped out from cali. we used the loaner camera to shoot houston and returned it at no cost to the kind electronics store that doesn't require a restocking fee.
we might still be out two grand if the broken camera can't be repaired. but that's a whole lot better than the five grand we'd have been out if we wouldn't have been able to return the loaner camera.
[DISCLAIMER: you really shouldn't purchase expensive equipment that you don't plan to keep, but if you're gonna make a movie you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the production alive. that's how we get down, anyway.]
the good news is that the "b" camera isn't broken. yet. lol.
and we're onto new orleans.
which is the best place to celebrate the resumption of production. 'cause you can sip a long island iced tea at 6 in the morning at a random bar in the french quarter while the dj blends nwa into stevie wonder. or so i'm told.
