Historical Hotels in Prague, Czech Republic

The history of prague is reflected in its hotels. The city dating back to the 9th Century, has been historically, and is today, a crossroads between ancient and modern worlds. Its a city that has throughout its existence continually reinvented itself. As a result, Prague offers an array of historical hotels representing each of its bygone eras.

    Historical Sites Reinvented Into Hotels

Many of Pragues hotels were once historical sites that have been refurbished to meet the increasing needs of international travelers. For example, a 14th Century building, dating from the time of Bohemian King, Charles IV, is now the Iron Gate hotel prague.

Another example is the Castle Steps Hotel that is actually three separate 16th Century buildings that set at the foot of the ancient Hradcany Castle. Especially interesting is the Pension U svateho Jana (Hotel on the saint johns) that is a former monastery and a historical monument that is now the Waldstein Annexe Hotel.

These hotels have been renovated to meet current need, but reflect the rich history of the area. From the time of the original Bohemians throughout the history of Prussian, German and Soviet Union occupation to the current day, a reshaping is constantly taking place in Prague that points the way to a new era. Historical sites being reinvented into hotels, is one way where the old world meets the new.

Late Nineteenth Century and Early Twentieth Century Hotels

Built during a time of increased travel to Prague, a number of hotels from this era reflect the Art Nouveau architectural style, then popular throughout Europe. With the coming of a new century, the city had reinvented itself again into a worldlier destination.

For example, in 1906, it was common to find European politicians meeting at the Hotel Palace Praha. By 1920, travelers could enjoy ultra modern facilities, including a casino, at the Ambassador Zlata Husa.

All of Pragues historical hotels of this time, although reserved for the elite, were a response to the needs of a more sophisticated European traveler that demanded great luxuries. Sadly, this era ended with the coming of Communist occupation from 1918 until 1989. Today, many of these hotels, have been renovated and restored to their original glory.

    Historical Prague

Prague is in a picturesque river valley that surrounds the Vltava River. Many ancient bridges connect the east and west banks of the river and provide valuable links for maneuvering about the city. Old Town Prague originates back to the 13th Century while New Town developed in the 14th Century.

Hradcany Castle, previously mentioned, was built in the late 9th Century. Historically, it was the residence of kings but now houses offices and is the official residence of the current President of the Czech Republic. Another way the old is preserved while room is made for the new.

Prague is known for the various architectural styles contributed by each culture and era that has influenced it. Its known as an intersection in Central Europe where East meets West. Where innovation takes its shape from the foundation of the ancient.

    Historical Hotels ?21st Century View

As many historic buildings have been turned into hotels and an array of century-old hotels have been remodeled in Prague, its interesting to note what shape newly built hotels are taking. Today, the contemporary architectural styles of these hotels beckon back to the past. Many of these hotels are lovely 19th Century-type structures with all the amenities. What else could be expected from versatile Prague.

What To Look For In A Hotel

You can trust established chains such as Marriott or Hilton

but there is so much on offer that it would be a shame to

miss out on the smaller or independent hotels as they may

be able to offer you something the larger chain brands can't.

    The Rating System

The star system was created to help guests judge how

good a hotel is. Star ratings symbolise the level of

standards a guest can expect and are recognised

worldwide. Ranging from 1 ?5, the quality of service,

amenities, size and condition of rooms and building, safety

and security, atmosphere, quality of food and drink, hotel

presence and efficiency of staff are judged.

    1 Star

Practical accommodation. Don't expect anything more than

the absolute basics. The shower room is likely to be down

the hall, but remember, it's the cheapest accommodation. If

you're looking for a bargain, and don't mind not having

en-suite facilities, don't hesitate to consider one-star hotels

?just check the room first. Go for one that offers clean

sheets and a nice neighbourhood. It may be cheap but you

don't want to slum it next door to a crack den!

    2 Star

Although many offer en-suite facilities you may find in some

hotels there is still a need to share the shower room down

the hall with other guests. You'll have a colour television, a

comfortable bed, and a restaurant/dining room for breakfast

    and dinner.

    3 Star

Private bathrooms in the (usually smallish) room colour

television, occasionally even a mini bar, a phone, laundry

service (optional) and a more formal style of service along

with the opportunity for room service during certain times to

    be expected.

    4 Star

Four-star hotels are spacious and have the creature

comforts with a touch more luxury, including private baths in

addition to a strong emphasis on food and beverage,

24-hour room service and a dry cleaning service available.

More often in well situated locations.

    5 Star

Simply the best. The interiors will be of the highest

standards. Opulent, stylish and of absolute luxury. Nothing

is too much for guests. Exceptional comfort, 24 hour room

service, luxury amenities, for example, spas or star rated

restaurants serving superb cuisine are the norm. The

concierge will be only too happy to get you want at whatever

time of the day, (so long as it's legal). You will feel very well

cared for by professional, attentive staff providing a flawless

service. This is the kind of luxury dreams are made of.

The star definitions should be treated as a general guide to

what you should expect from a star rated hotel as there is

yet no definitive worldwide standardisation available.

Because of this, it can sometimes be abused and you could

find yourself booking into a hotel that just doesn't come up

to what you believe to be adequate for its rating.

Due to the lack of consistency in hotel ratings around the

world you could find yourself staying in, for example, a

three-star hotel abroad which may be better than a

three-star hotel in your native country. But be warned, it can

go either way and you could find yourself in a less than

desirable hotel with exactly the same star rating.

Keep in mind it is your right to view a room before you

commit to staying in it. Ask to do so.

    Recommendation

If you're thinking of booking into a hotel, but don't know what

it's like, http://www.gate14.co.uk suggests you take the following

    steps.

Ask trusted friends with similar tastes to recommended

    somewhere

Alternatively, search the name of your intended hotel and

read impartial hotel reviews from people who have stayed in

    the accommodation.

Reviews can be seen at Holiday Watchdog. It's free to use

and you can even submit a review of your own.

If you would like to see special offers in accommodation, go

    to http://www.gate14.co.uk/SV4.html.

Puerto Vallarta: Living a Real Mexican Tropical Lifestyle

puerto vallarta is rich with so many things, such as culture, entertainment, and history. That’s why being here means living a real Mexican tropical lifestyle.

What to Do in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta provides several attractions and activities to their visitors. If you don’t know where to start, you can always refer to the list below:

    1. Enjoy their annual festivals. You can begin at any point in Puerto Vallarta on the month of November. At this time, the weather may have been turning cold in preparation for December and the small towns are brimming with life because of too many festivals. The Cultural Festival, for one, is the most ideal time to see the fusion of culture and arts in the native’s performances. You can also get a taste of delectable Mexican dishes, in their annual international gourmet festival. If you have a soft spot for golf, you can watch their Vallarta Cup tournaments. For the film buffs, the film festival in Puerto Vallarta is the best time to grab a theater seat.

    2. Explore San Sebastian. Tucked away in the valleys of Puerto Vallarta is the town of San Sebastian. This used to be one of the oldest homes of the first Mexican settlers in the city, back in 1605. Today, it is not a mining town for silver. The best way to travel to San Sebastian is by boarding a Cessna plane. This will also give you an opportunity to see Puerto Vallarta and even the magnificent seas on aerial view.

    3. Take a half-day tour to Huichols. Back in the days, majority of Puerto Vallarta is occupied by native Indians. As time passed, however, a lot of them are already gone, and modern civilization took place. That’s why the trip to see the Huichols should be something you should not miss. These people are known to be the Aztec descendants. They have learned to keep themselves away from modernism and technology and thus are able to preserve their beliefs, rituals, culture, and history. Their houses still showcase the influence of Pre-Columbian era. If you want to experience a totally new way of seeing Mexican life, you can participate in a half-day trip to their territory. Don’t forget to buy a well-made handicraft in their souvenir shops.

    4. Take the kids to the water park. The water parks are the best places to take your kids, especially during the summer months. There are wide varieties of wave pools and water slides, where they can play and just have some fun. They can also watch different performances and animal shows, such as dolphin and seal exhibitions.

    5. Hit the beach. Puerto Vallarta is also well-known for their beaches, which are usually integrated in villas and hotels that are scattered all over the town. One example is that of Grupo Mayan hotel. You can enjoy different types of water activities, like parasailing, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. What’s more, you can purchase timeshares so you can have a nice place to stay while you’re in town while making a lucrative investment.

Hotels in Central London: History and Luxury

Central london is where everything is: the history, the culture, the center of the UKs government, and the night life. For about a three-mile stretch between the Tower of london and Hyde Park, youll find most of the london youre looking for: Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, St. Pauls, London Bridge, Westminster, Trafalgar Square. It only makes sense, therefore, to find a great hotel to stay in that area. You can do this for a reasonably-inexpensive rate, or you can splurge and be treated like the Queen. The most important thing, though, is to reserve your spot as early as you can; rooms, especially the inexpensive rooms, go quickly. If youre arriving by midday, many places will hold your spot without a deposit. Others can be expensive if youre forced to cancel.

    Bed and Breakfasts

In the streets behind Victoria Station, youll find colonies of budget Bed and Breakfasts. Its a nice area, not at all touristy, and you can get a cheap ?0 room (expect what you pay for, of course) or a nicer ?0 room, with atmosphere and a nice British breakfast. You can possibly save a little money by arriving later in the day without a reservation and looking for a bargain. Competition is fierce here, and you can probably strike a deal, particularly in the off-season, and particularly with a multiple night stay. In Warwick Way hotels, request a quiet back room.

Woodville House at 105 Elbury St. offers inexpensive rooms. Youll share a bathroom down the hall and you may end up next to the noisy street, but the atmosphere is great, the proprietor friendly and endlessly informative, and you can save even more money by bunking 3-5 in a room with friends.

Or you can try a more expensive place like Lime Tree Hotel, with thoughtfully decorated public areas and spacious guest rooms; the breakfast room is even attached to a nice traditional garden.

Wherever you stay, a bed and breakfast will give you a traditional taste of London.

    Modern Hotels

For the cheapest rates, you can stay at one of the Travel Inn hotels. The rooms are cookie-cutter and dull and the restaurants and bars are ordinary, even somewhat tacky, but if youre planning to stay out in the city most of the time, you cant find a better deal. They have locations near Big Ben, the British Library, and further off at Putney Bridge.

    Classy, Trendy Hotels

If you dont need to cut corners and would like to stay in an area so classy they dont allow tacky things like hotel signs on the street, you probably want to stay in South Kensington. The shops are great ?Harrods is in walking distance ?and you can find budget and nice restaurants of all descriptions lining the streets nearby.

Aster House Hotel has excellent rooms with televisions, phones, and a refrigerator. You can have breakfast in the Orangerie, a Victorian greenhouse and lounge in the back garden; or you can walk a short distance to have your meals in town.

5 Sumner Place Hotel has been voted the best small hotel in london. Chandeliers decorate the Victorian-style conservatory, a greenhouse decorated in blues, where youll have breakfast. The hotel is in a 150-year-old building, and each room is decorated with period furnishings. It can be expensive, but if youre looking for atmosphere, this is where to find it.

If you dont quite have as much money to spend, you can try 16 Sumner Place up the road, or Kensington Juries Hotel. Either is popular and close to attractions, with excellent furnishings, informative and friendly management, and loads of class and comfort.

Wherever you stay in this neighborhood, youll be certain of atmosphere, walking-distance attractions, and friendly service.

    The Cheapest Place Ever

If youre a young woman or a man with a Norwegian passport, you can get a room at the Norwegian YWCA for half the price youd spend anywhere else in London; all rooms are smoke free, and, other than singles, have their own showers; if youre willing to share a quad room with strangers, you can get a room for as little as ?8 in the off-season, breakfast included. And believe it or not, its a really nice place to stay, with atmosphere and comfort.

    Freedom Trail

The Freedom Trail is essentially a red brick path, winding through downtown boston. It passes sixteen important historical sites and stretches two and half miles, starting from the Boston Common and ending at the Bunker Hill Monument. An original concept thought out by local journalist William Schofield in 1958, the trail is meant to connect the most significant landmarks in a way that's accessible to pedestrians. The Freedom Trail is part of the Boston Harbor Walk tour and a unit of Boston National Historical Park.

Boston, Massachusetts plays a massive historical role in the United States and it's fitting to have every significant site linked via such a pathway as the Freedom Trail. Tourists visit by the thousands every month and this has led to the set-up of several sidewalk cafes and restaurants for them to enjoy some delectable American contemporary cuisine.

The Freedom Trail begins at the Boston Common and falls alongside the Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Ground, King's Chapel, King's Chapel Burying Ground, Benjamin Franklin Statue, former site of the first public school, Boston Latin School, Old Corner Bookstore, Old South Meeting House, Old State House, Site of the Boston Massacre, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, Paul Revere House, Old North Church, Copp's Hill Burying Ground and ends at the US Constitution Bunker Hill Monument.

Providing an in-depth view into the American Revolution and its aftermath, there's no better place to learn about the country's history than along the Freedom Trail. Tours are available for student groups, public groups and corporate groups, and visitors can opt for these guided tours provided by the Freedom Trail Foundation. The tour guide will be in 18th century costume, and explain everything about how the Colonialists were driven away by early Bostonians. It's a history lesson outside of the boring books and been at the actual sites where all of it happened can be an enthralling experience.

When you visit Boston, you might want to tour the other sites as well. Staying at a

/" target="_blank">boston hotel of your choice, you can explore the city and everything it has to offer for visitors. A centrally located Downtown Boston hotel would be the best choice of accommodation, as it provides easy access to all the attractions. Check out the

/" target="_blank">Millennium Bostonian Hotel Boston for a great hotel stay.

Pratunam Market ?the Trendiest Fashions are at Easy Reach

bangkok is indisputably a great destination for shopping where one could find all sorts of items to meet any requirement. It is not difficult to find trendy items such as clothes, cosmetics, and other ornaments at low prices if you know where to shop in this industrial city. “pratunam Market?is one such location where people always find their main necessities, mostly fashionable clothes with cheaper price tags.

Pratunam Market is located in the heart of the city and open every day from morning to late afternoon. Being accessible from Ratchaprarop Road, the market spreads along several small lanes that look the same way with plenty of stalls full of clothing items that are hung without leaving any space. One could be confused in this multipart market but not to worry; because any direction you make way would lead to out side the market.

This is also a famous place that displays designer fakes that look exactly the same way of the original ones with much cheaper prices. Most of the times shoppers are encouraged to purchase couple of pieces to gain benefits of the wholesale price and people who carry huge bags full of clothes and many other items is a common scenario in this complex market.

“Bai Yoke Building?is a main stay in Pratunam Market, which is also dedicated for designer clothes where people can find fashionable items. The six storied building offers plenty of clothes ranging from beach wear to formal evening wear and particularly business suits for women. People don’t hesitate to bargain at any stall of the market as there is always the possibility of reducing the prices of each piece. Pratunam Market is also surrounded by some of the most prominent Bangkok serviced apartments which always welcome visitors with elegant ingredients and facilities that would make tourists admire the hospitality services and bangkok hotel accommodation.

good a hotel is.

Hotels and Feng Shui - Stay Where the Luck Is

Many people travel during the holidays, as well as during vacations. Likewise, business deals are often made as a result of travel. When selecting a hotel, you can learn a lot--and improve your luck--from the Feng Shui of the building.

For example, is the hotel's main door at the center, left side, or right side of the building? If the door is at the left side, you'll probably get good advice about things to do and places to see in the area. If the door is in the center, it's ideal for business travel. However, if you're on vacation, the best location for a hotel's door is on the far right side. In Black Hat Feng Shui, the far right side supports travel and indicates helpful people.

If the hotel has a concierge, he or she should be facing the front door. If the concierge has his or her back to the front door, or--worse--is positioned behind a column, don't be surprised if you received a chilly reception and limited help. Then again, that may not be very important to you.

For the best experience, choose a hotel where the guest rooms open onto a corridor rather than directly to the outside. In Feng Shui terms, if you walk outdoors to your hotel room, the hotel management may not have a sense of connection to its registered guests.

In other words, once you've registered and arranged payment for the room, you may feel as if you're on your own.

Hotel guest rooms can also indicate good or bad Feng Shui. The bed that you are going to sleep and should not be in direct line with the door; they rarely are. Likewise, if the bathroom is at the far left or far right corner of your room, ask for different floor plan. Any other placement of the bed and bath is fine.

Check the view from your window. If you're only sleeping there overnight, any view is fine as long as it is not a slum. However, if the view is important, if you'll conduct meetings in your room or suite, or if all you see is poverty, request a different room with a better view.

Many business travelers are phobic about staying in a room above the third floor. Therefore, those rooms are often empty and also provide some of the best views. In addition, if you stay on the top floor, you won't have of the sound of footsteps overhead. Finally, in Feng Shui terms, higher rooms are generally better; there is less (literal) weight on top of you.

Consider the impression that you received upon entering the hotel as well as your guest room. Look for these Feng Shui signals: Lighting should be adequate, neither glaringly bright nor too dim. If a strong aroma indicates a heavy reliance on air fresheners, look for other signs of problems with housekeeping. From the moment you enter the hotel, you should feel comfortable, relaxed, and welcomed.

Keep in mind that most hotel chains use the same floor plans repeatedly. Therefore, you can visit hotels near your home before you travel. Whether your local hotels are Hiltons, holiday inns, Marriotts, or some other line, you can get a good idea of their typical Feng Shui, and what to expect at related hotels when you travel.

Once you have chosen a hotel chain that meets your standards and offers consistently good Feng Shui, make that your first choice when you travel. This will reduce stress by making travel planning simpler, and improve your travel experiences.

These attractive shows engage people to handle snakes with the presenters and provide knowledge about snakes?species and behaviors. They extract venom from poisonous snakes to study and develop anti-venom serum for treatments of snake bites.

The venom taken from a snake is sent to a horse farm in hua hin where they inject venom into a horse in small amounts. Venom is injected time to time until the horse builds up the immunity. Once this process is completed blood plasmas drawn from the horse is sent back to the snake farm to be purified and tested before sending to hospitals for use in treatments. Over the past years this institution has been providing a great service for many health departments and hospitals. It also engages people in many educative programs and researches in order to broaden awareness about snake world and to save snake bite victims.
