Welcome to 2003, & Other Stuff We hope everyone's 2003 is off to a great start! Things here are Blurty HQ are starting to get back up to speed after the holiday slack-off.
I few days ago we upgraded some of the backend components, including updating all of your user accounts to make them LJ cluster-friendly. A few of you might have noticed some broken images for a few hours during the upgrade. That was because we did the conversion slowly, over a couple of days, and a few things were strange on some accounts as they switched. Only a few people even noticed, and everything was fine once the changeover was completed. Now you are all cluster 1 users - no more cluster 0. I know you're excited!
We also upgraded some other random stuff that I won't even bother going into here.
Suffice to say, this site is
growing fast (we'll be closing in on 100,000 accounts before long) and we're trying to stay one step ahead of the wave. (Apologies for the lame metaphor.)
Current plans call for another server to be added sometime before the end of February. That will greatly increase our computing power and should keep Blurty fast and furious into the foreseeable future.
We will be changing the account structure pretty soon. Don't worry, anyone who has an existing Early Adopter account won't be effected. We'll just be adding some new options for new members. Stay tuned for that change sometime in February as well.
There are a bunch of other things we've got in mind, but I don't want to overwhelm you with too much all at once. Thanks for all of your feedback and support as we continue to fine tune Blurty. Keep those suggestions coming.
