King Midas In Reverse [13 Jan 2004|05:28pm]
[ mood | artistic ]
[ music | The Marvelettes - "Jimmy Mack" ]

Ahh... The Hollies... I mentioned the King Midas thing in the last one of these (I'm told they are called 'posts'). The Hollies helped me find God. By God I mean Jon Brion, of course.

"Sing Hollies In Reverse" is a tribute album, one of my favorites. It is not one of my favorites becuase it's any good, for it is ear-scrapingly awful... Except for the last song. 'Sorry Suzanne', an 8 minute psychadelic/power-pop opus performed, produced, and birthed by big JB.

Sorry. But I fuckin' love Jon Brion.

Round & Round & Round [13 Jan 2004|01:04pm]

[ music | Zwan - "Mary Star Of The Sea" ]

Well, I was correct. Yesterday was a weird day...

I don't necessarily believe in telepathy or ESP or that crap. But in a way, I can see it's arguments. After all, why couldn't the human brain recieve synaptic responses from an outside receptor/transmitter?

But I digress... I only bring up ESP becuase however much I want to not accept it's mysteries, recent actions have caused me to question my beliefs.

Time to restart my servers!

True Romance [12 Jan 2004|01:23am]
[ mood | crushed ]
[ music | Garbage - "Soldier Through This" ]

Good lord. I found the pill bottle... And it all came rushing back. Like a wave (daipei)...

School field trips. That stupid 'Josta Cola' crap. "Bye Bye Birdy". Summer days and mall parking lots. The YMCA. Grapefruit diets. The unholy act of carpetswimming. Jamocha Shake days. Wet hair, and that heavenly shampoo. Sex at noon every day. Making out anywhere and everywhere (especially elevators, hotels, and carwashes). Ghetto break-ins. Being constantly covered in glitter. The German language. Ultra-mega foxy Chinese food waitresses. Lobsteritas, pigeons, and alternators. Weird/wonderful drawings of trees. The smell of Modge-Podge. Unfiltered Lucky Strike cigarettes. Laying in Couch Dorms and listening to Adore for the first time. The summer that-almost-never-was. Cheap highway motels and candlewax. That wild hammock-chair. And that angelic voice.

Tomorrow is going to be a weird-ass day.

And The Levee Breaks... [08 Jan 2004|01:12pm]
[ mood | nostalgic ]
[ music | The Cure - "Inbetween Days" ]

So... There I was, sitting at work, listening to The Cure. I'd built an ad for a daycare, which I attended when I was a child. This got me thinking of being 5 years old... It was taboo to use a yellow Lego piece. That meant you were a Ruskie.

My girlfriend in High School went to the same daycare. In High School, I remember we went to that daycare (for whatever reason), and I remember listening to The Cure in the parking lot. The song was 'Primary'. Weird how you remember things that are so trivial at the time.

Then this got me thinking "Well, what if...", and damnation if I'm still thinking "what if". I wonder about her, not in the romantic sense, but in a, well, I don't know. I'm terribly curious about her. I wish I could be a fly on her wall.

Which brings up, my favorite and yours, the game of mixed signals. When a tragic event or series of events happen, those involved will commonly do something I call "fusion". A tragic/traumatic event causes people to take on the mannerisms and personalities of the other parties involved. In my case, we both did.

I only stumbled upon her the first time thanks to whiskey, vodka, and vomit. What possible circumstances can lead to another?

Kung-Fu Grip [08 Dec 2003|03:40pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]
[ music | Outkast - "The Rooster" ]

Let's go back a while and revisit my "four little girls" theories... And let's make it work.

Girl #1 likes me because of history. Girl #2 likes me because of convenience. Girl #3 likes me for physicalities. Girl #4 likes me for intellect.

Now, I could pull off a "Merry-Go-Round" system (a round-robin, so to speak), or I could lose them all and find one girl with all the redeeming qualities stated above (we'll call her 'Girl X')

Hmm. Now let's say that there is a 'Girl X', and she's thinking of moving away, partially spurred on by Girls #1-4.

So, what we have are 4 little girls who like a part of me trying to shoo away a girl who likes all of me.

Everytime I think I'm out, they pull me back in!

Go Baby Go! (pt. 2) [01 Dec 2003|04:31pm]
[ mood | embarrassed ]
[ music | The Police - "Rehumanize Yourself" ]

I was expecting Jenny to call me and say "Goddamn it! It's not my fault! Blah blah blah".
Instead, it was Lauren! Cute li'l Lauren!

So, to clarify...

1. Jenny: Your great initiative to not meet Patricia ruined a few things (nothing I couldn't have ruined, however)...

2. Jenny: The "lets fix your ex-girlfriends car" game was genius, but now she thinks I was the one doing all that. Next time you want to go pokin' around in my ex-girlfriend cabinet, make sure you know what you're looking for.

3. Lauren: You are so damn cute. You're like Apollo, in that you get cuter as you get angrier. Where the Hulk turns green, you turn cute.

[ music | Outkast - "She Lives In My Lap" ]

I've said this before, I'll probably say it again: Girls are evil. You can never, ever tell what they'll do next.

XXXXXX came back today, fresh from a casual sex trip 1,500 miles away. Of course, I get to hear the lurid details. So she gets to hear my heart silently shatter. It's a good trade.

It reminds me of Raechel and I in ninth grade. I sit there listening, while my brain says "You could either date someone several miles away, or date li'l local me". We all know how that turned out.

Speaking of which, she's acting very bizarre. Maybe its because I don't really know whats going on. I'd like to thank Jenny for pulling me back in. (Smell the sarcasm?) Let's no forget Patricia either, Jenny. Another thanks.

[ music | The Cure - "A Night Like This" ]

Here's something to ponder: the Kylie Minogue song 'Come Into My World' has a terrific verse, but an awful chorus! Alternately, 'Love At First Sight' has a wonderful chorus, and a terrible verse! I'll call it "Quizzical Moments in Music Production (or: Where's Mirawais When You Need Him?)"

Gol'dang... It's late. Kinda tired... Kinda delerious! Okay, very delerious! How is it that in the dorms I could stay up for days?

'Li'l Shaver' met Apollo today. Dogs are so frackin' weird.

Jeebus Christ, Jenny! I'm so fucking sorry I forgot about a few things...

1. 'X4' was, as you know it, "Knocks Me Off My Feet", which was an EXPERIMENTAL FILM (ie: useless) made by me in April, 2003 (WITH YOU). Why was it called 'X4'? Beats me. It sounded cool.

2. 'Tinker' was for a class. The film (or, DV film) sucked balls (big un's, too... maybe donkey?). Brian was off making his stuff with my cameras. And dogs are damn near impossible to direct en masse. Apollo kept licking Tinkers face. Which, while cute, didn't help anything considering Apollo wasn't even supposed to be in frame. Oops.

3. You've never seen 'The Face Of Trouble', and for good reason. It's about you!

Ahh Japan... Your clean city streets and friendly people changed my life.

Back at home! I ate fifteen hot dogs in the last two days (I really missed them). I bought several guitars, a new DVD player, damn near every Kurosawa film (Japanese DVDs), and more kimonos and swords. Excellent.

Back to USA. Back to Jenny. Back to Lauren. Back to XXXXXXX. Back to OU. Oye vey!

Ahh... The Pacific Ocean. Somewhere in that puddle is Hawaii, and somewhere further is Japan! Now there's a country that I can enjoy.

Only in Japan can I see Brian Wilson and Jamiroquai on the same high peak. Violent video games, cartoon pornography, the Yakuza, sake, cheap electronics, sushi at all hours of the day... I love it!

It's time to surf, however. Hopefully I won't drown.

A Message For Jennifer McCauley [27 Aug 2003|04:36pm]
[ mood | busy ]
[ music | Wes Montgomery - "Green Peppers" ]

Jenny! Listen very closely! Put your ear on the screen!

About Apollo... He likes either milk or warm water with his food (a'la Tinker), and don't spare the cookies. He sleeps under the bed (Apollotown) or on top of you (the more probable situation). Apollo loves Jenny!

About Lauren... Someone (ahem) needs to take her to the hospital on the 2nd. What hospital? Mercy. What wing? Umm, well, I don't know. Ask the friendly people at the front desk. They should know.

About cars... You can take the Z3 out and about, just make sure A) It's not raining... B) DON'T GET PULLED OVER! and C) That's Super-Unleaded gas, dig? None of that cheap shit. The keys are under the board (Mackie).

About you... I made you a CD (MZA III)... It's in the Sony player in the studio. Nothing fancy, just the first version of Ronin.

About Alpha... Call Gabriel Vox!

About my apartment... Make sure the skylight doesn't leak if it does rain. Check the door often for presents and such that people leave. If anyone knocks on the door, don't answer unless it's Jenny, Lauren, or my mother. Nobody else should stop by.

About me... I'll be with Michelle in Hermosa Beach. You have the phone number. Two days later (the 3rd) I'll be in Japan. I'll be back on the 7th.

Thanks, doll face. I'll bring you a present.

She's Not The Little Girl I Once Knew [24 Aug 2003|11:14pm]
[ mood | enthralled ]
[ music | Stevie Wonder - "I Love Every Little Thing About You" ]

Out of the blue, a phone call from Shasta Fox. Not exceedingly important and/or impressive, but boy does it score big on the "weird-ass" point system! That's Shasta; weird name, weird gal. She likes dicks and drugs, in no uncertain order. Personally, I'll have nothing to do with her. The moral? Never take acid around winos.

For the heart of Medina to the head of Fort Green, NYC everything.

I was listening to Stevie Wonder today (no suprise) and I came upon a song called "Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)". I've heard it a few times before, but never really sat down and listened to it. To the five or so people who read this: What the fuck does this song mean? Does it mean anything? It was during Stevie's big Moog period, whereupon I mean that his lyrics took a back seat to his far-out new synth sounds; but honestly folks! What does this song mean? I's con-fused. Seems like when Moog backed Stevie in 1971, Mr. Wonder wasn't quite sure what do with it yet. Then came "Superstition".

MZA is taking a vacation for a while. We'll let him rest up and get the evil back in him, yes? Lord knows he deserved one; three years of constant insanity and terror take a physical toll. But then again, that's why we love MZA. And by 'we', I mean 'I'. I guess Jenny does too, Lauren also, but they are happy too. Finally everyone is happy.
