Hey guys. Um, i know i've been really out of it lately. I'm going to not role play here for a while. Maybe later i'll start up again.

Loved rping with you all! Add me as a friend on my muns lj and we'll keep in contact or something.

Have fun,

A few things... [31 May 2003|03:00pm]
[ mood | sore ]

Alright, I've gone through the MSAS profile and taken down some claims to teaching positions.

The following positions are now open:

Angst-ism: More of an extra help class for angst-impared Sues.
Pity and Pride: How to make everyone else lay at your feet or appear evil if they don't.

If you would like to take these positions, or if you know anyone who would be interested, email your profile to me. First come first serve.

Also, I've been toying with the idea for a fanfic contest. The way it would work is, any Sue has the chance to do a "field test" of their canon. They stay in a holographic representation of their canon for a week and try to do some kind of feat. I don't know what feat you could do, because, as I said, I'm only toying with the idea.

Is anyone interested in this? (I won't be able to respond any emails until tomorrow night.)

I have posts written for Jessamine's classes, but I'm going out of town for four or five days. I don't expect to have access to a computer between tomorrow night and Tuesday afternoon. Is everyone so eager for another class that I should go ahead and post it and answer comments whenever I find time to do it, or can class wait until next week when I'm around to play?

Would anyone be interested in rp-ing the Malfoy Twins? They have their own journal and everything.

I am rp-ing a bazillion characters so I want to push the Twins off on someone else. ^_^ All I ask is that you follow the little sub-plot we have going on already; ie. They will have to be tricked into taking a potion occasionally that calms them down and keeps them from driving people insane.

They are ditzy happy demons who love girly things and cute stuff. They don't purposely do evil. They don't realize that they drive people crazy. ^_^;

If anyone is interested, and wants to rp them, then just let me know. If not, then they will just go back to being regular NPCs in the background like they were before.

Hi people!

This is just an idea, but I think we should all get AOL screen names for our characters and have In Characters conversations on IM.

Mine is "mortriel", if anyone wants to add me. I think it would be really good for story lines and that.

Well, that's my great idea.

So the whole reason I haven't posted my class yet is because I wasn't sure if time was passing there the same way it does here in muns land. Now that one has been posted I was wondering if I should post mine now or wait til a little later in the week.

One advantage to now is that it would REALLY cheese sensui_yuri off.....

I just wanted to apologise for not having been around the past couple weeks. I had a sudden anavoidable attack of *shudders* real life. So, I'll be reading through what I've missed now and will be getting back in the game.

Oh. Well, duh. [05 May 2003|01:30am]

Hah. After ten minutes of poking around in the journals, I finally remember what I'd signed in to do. This place is a giant attention sponge.

As if midterms weren't enough, I've got a gigantic new project forming in my head. One of the main characters is so insistent about being written right now, damnit! that I actually wrote about four paragraphs of a scene in the blue book for my Archaeology of Greek Art midterm before I noticed what I was doing (And yeah, it was interesting explaining to the professor why I felt the need to say quite loudly, "Oh, for Christ's sake!" and erase half a page. I think that by then end of that he'd have wished I was actually cheating).

I probably won't be around the rest of the week. I don't think this little twerp is going to let me do much of anything else creative until I get him down on paper.

crap [04 May 2003|08:26pm]

[ mood | pissed ]

We had a big storm here Friday afternoon and my power has just *finally* come back on after 2 days. x_x

Now I find out my computer got screwed up in the outage so it may be a day or two before I can do any major posting unless my brother lets me use his a lot. I will probably have to reformat mine. BLEH.
Hopefully, I can do that tomorrow and get everything sorted out quickly. I just wanted to let everyone know I might not be replying for a little while. (And I didn't want you to think I had suddenly started ignoring you, zurvan_palazzo!)

[ mood | curious ]

I've been wondering about something.

How exactly do students go about initiating meetings with professors? I think that it had been pretty much settled on that the professors' personal journals would serve as their offices, but we obviously can't post in someone else's journal. It's probably because of my own personal bias (it makes me grind my teeth when there's lots of "Hey, person X! What do you want to do tomorrow?" entries on my friends lists), but it seems like putting posts intended for just one other person on the main group could clutter it up if a lot of people were posting one-on-one posts at the same time. I'd been thinking that perhaps the professor players could, if they so chose, have a thread in their characters' personal journals for office visits.

Or am I just being way too fussy about what gets posted on the main group? ; > What do any of the rest of you think?

School Sport [01 May 2003|01:43am]

zurvan_palazzo and I came up with a potential school sport:

Tergiversate - (possible abbrv names = Terv, Tergiver)

Terv is a variation of Dodge Ball. It is played in a large circular field, divided into 4 pie piece-shaped areas; black, silver, blue, and red. Any number of students from all Houses play at once. Theoretically, the entire school could play if they wanted.

When the game begins, 10 bludgers are released and the object is to dodge them. If you are hit, then you are 'Out'. Once you are 'Out,' you leave the circle and are finished with that game.

As the number of players dwindles, the number of bludgers is reduced. For every 30 players that are hit and leave the field, 1 bludger will be taken out of play.

At specific points in the game, a color will be called out, and the bludgers will begin a 1 minute assault only on players that were standing in that specific colored area at the time. Players should do their best to not stand in that area when it is time for that color to be called.

The last person standing in the circle wins the game for their House.

Here are some rules for the game:

Players can catch the bludgers - If a player is able to catch a bludger successfully, s/he can throw the bludger at another player. The bludger is charmed to react properly to a throw. Once the targetted person is hit, or has dodged, the bludger returns to normal and begins randomly attacking again.

No touching other players - You can use other players as a shield, but you can not touch them, ie. force them to stand in front of you.

No powers allowed - A player is not allowed to use any magic, super powers, or luck charms during the game. You will rely on your own skill, speed, flexibility, and gymnastics abilities.

You can not leave the Circle during gameplay - If you leave the circular playing field, you are 'Out'. Be sure to watch your step. Bludgers are charmed never to leave the Circle.

So, what do you all think? Sound like a good official sport?

Hey, everyone. [24 Apr 2003|11:07am]

[ mood | blank ]

I don't know you very well, and you probably don't know me very well. I just wanted to say that I live in Red Lion, and I go to the high school there. We were let out this morning at 10 AM because of a shooting at the Junior High, which is right across the road. An 8th grader shot the assistant principal, and then killed himself. The assistant principal is in critical condtion, and from what I have heard, is most likely dead.

Just a little update. I probably won't be RPing for a while, and I thought you guys might want a reason why.

I am making a journal for the Malfoy Twins since they are being used a lot. ^_^ They will still be free-for-all NPCs. I am just making it to reference: malfoy_twins and to write some silly stuff from time to time..

I also made an account for my Snape since I rp-ed him already and it's sort of annoying going back and forth between LJ and blurty: snarky_snape

This might be a really stupid question on my part, but does anyone have a comprehensive list of links to the class sign-ups that have been posted so far? They seem to be all over the place at the moment O_O Thanks in advance...

Question [17 Apr 2003|08:24pm]

[ mood | curious ]

Just because I'm curious, when is the sorting going to end? Is there a select amount of time for all new students to get 'registered' and come to be sorted or is it an on-going thing? Also, if the sorting is ended, how would new students arrive should anyone decide they wanted to rp a character after the sorting ends, ie, mid-year transfer, another sorting ceremony, etc.

I might be able to blame this on the fact that I just spent the last twenty minutes trying to scrub the mystery stains off of the floor of my new room and breathing in happy cleaner fumes in the process, but I started thinking about some things.

Since it seems to me that Suewarts seems to be modeled in equal parts after Hogwarts and the general American university, I was wondering. Is there anything like career counseling or faculty advisors at Suewarts? I suppose what I have in mind is two different things, both academic advisors and someone there to help the students through their little angst-fits. One of the things I'd been planning to do later on was let Frank read some Tolkien and have a crisis of conscience over whether he should be messing with the canon at all. I don't know how wise having actual teachers as counselor-type advisors would be; we're all so busy as it is, and I see the teachers I've met either not caring much about students' problems or dealing with them the way Steve Martin's dentist in Little Shop of Horrors did with dental problems. I think more straight academic advisors wouldn't be too difficult to pull off, something like the advisors at my school (::cough::) who are basically only there to bitch at you for not signing up for the right classes and make you think about what you're going to do when you're done. I could see the staff going for that, some of them. Perhaps we could have a guidance/counseling office staffed by NPCs or sommat.

Furthering the Harry Potter rip, this occurred to me: Since Hogwarts has the Forbidden Woods, what about some kind of similarly wild and dangerous place on Suewarts' grounds? My first idea was some kind of normality zone, where the reality-bending properties of Sues are nullified. I can't really think of a good name for it. All I came up with was the Lake of Logic, which seems more to me like it would be a feature of the space, like the Whomping Willow.

I dunno. What do the rest of you think?

NPC list! [13 Apr 2003|07:23pm]

(darfatezip - Hope you don't mind that I'm just running with the idea, it's just that I'm anxious to have repository so my easily confuzzled little brain can keep up. ^_^)

Please add your NPCs to the list by replying to this post, using the standard character sheet available at the MSAS community info page. If your NPC is a student, please add a listing for "House" right under the line for "Age/Year".

Here's a quick list of the NPCs who have character sheets here, as sorted by house, along with their ages, years, and genders ("Sue" or "Stu"). (current as of 4/23/03)

- Sakura Yuy-Maxwell (Sue, 15, Fourth Year)
- Mournheart Antecedent (Sue, 12, Second Year)
- Alanna Solo (Sue, 16, Sixth Year)
- Lady Elantarathiel Moonheart (Sue, elven equivalent of 13, Third Year)

- Lord Fitzgerald Charles Dominic Wilson-Greene, aka Fitz (Stu, looks to be around mid-twenties, Seventh Year)
- Claire Young (Sue, 14, Fourth Year)
- Sonora, originally Michelle Hunthart (Sue, 11, First Year)

- Lucrezia Campanella (Sue, 16, Sixth Year)

Also, people seem to have the wrong idea about the optional classes. It's third years and up only. I thought I made that clear the first time around, but appearently I didn't. Sorry.

EDIT as of 04/14/03: (because the author is stupid.) I seemed to have forgotten a Librarian. Hell, for the time being, Tabrius serves as both Grounds Keeper and Librarian. Sorry AGAIN *wanders off muttering about faulty memories*

Important announcement. Please take a look. [13 Apr 2003|02:23pm]
[ mood | happy ]
[ music | Beck - Loser ]

Okay, I know there are still a bunch of details to be worked out, but I'm working on that. Keep in mind I'm not that creative. I'll deal with some of the issues people have brought up.

1. Hogsmede-like village. I had a discussion about it with Setsuri and she came up with the name Meusamouro, which I believe is Latin for "I love me". We decided to have a Latin because we're going to follow someone's (I can't seem to find the post...) suggestion to have a Mt. VeSuevius near by.

2. The house elf like creatures. After browsing around, I found adrian_elsbeth had come up with a wonderful idea to name the little creatures "Dibdabs" standing for "Dirty Insignificant Beings that Do All the Boring Stuff". As for their appearance, I haven't fully decided to make them really cute and furry, or ugly and... ugly. I want to hear what the people have to say ^^.

3. The nurse, care taker, and grounds keeper. These people are going to be NPCs. For those of you confused, NPC means Non Playing Character. Basically, they have no "mun" as it were, and anyone can "play" them in their posts.

Their profiles )

Yes, I haven't gotten the Care Taker's profile up yet, because he isn't mine, per se. The two characters up there are old characters of mine, and they're just here for fun. I would appreciate anyone using those characters would keep them in character. Please don't kill them either. I love them both very much, and it would make me sad to see them abused. You writers know what I'm talking about right? Right??

4. The Headmistress. )

5. Classes. This has been the biggest so far. This idea was from adrain_elsbeth, 'cause that girl thinks of EVERYTHING. Anyway, her idea seemed to be the best I've seen and thought of. It also seems the easiest, and may help with the whole "who's in my class issue"

I think maybe our teachers could do similarly; give a short lecture on something or other and assign some 'homework' for us to write up. We could at least do a bit of rp-ing in that thread.. our on character reactions to the lecture/other characters, etc. Then the teacher could start a new thread (some point later when s/he feels the homework is due.. we really need to work out the 'scheduling') and we post our finished homework in that thread, where the professor can grade it.

Also, as to go with the whole Sueness of the situation (and following koshiroryuu's suggestion), everyone will just go by their own schedules. It'd be too much to ask of the teachers if they had to "teach" a class on a certain day. It'd also be confusing, I'd think.

6. Attendance. Who's in which class. That's another thing everyone's had difficulty with. There are two options I'm considering: Have the teacher of that class post on their own journal describing the class and asking who wants to join. Anyone who does leaves a comment. The second option is: After the teacher gives a lecture and assigns homework, people just do it if they're in the proper year.

7. Quidditch? I've been tossing around the idea to have a Sue sport, like Quidditch. A friend of mine wants to use Australian Rules Indoor Quidditch. (From Machall. I can't seem to find the proper comic strip about it...) But I don't know about that... any suggestions?

8. Ministry of Perfection. I've decided to do the full rip-off and have a Ministry, called the "Ministry of Perfection." They won't be involved very often, except in passing mention, I s'pect.

9. House points. Here's another large problem. I was wondering if there should be points given and taken away from houses and have house cups? The only thing is how could we keep track of all the points? Should we even do this at all? I'd like to hear your opinion.

If there's anymore questions please post them in here or email me about them. I've been told a lot of people raise questions in their personal journals and I just can't find them all the time.

Also, I'd like to customize the "leave a comments" link in msas, but I don't know what to use. Any suggestions?

I'd like to give a special thanks to everyone's ideas I've stolen borrowed. I also want to apologize for not actively RPing with you. It's nothing personal, RPGing just isn't my element. I feel lost and confused in your presence, you know?

I'm glad everyone's enjoying themselves and that MSAS is such a big hit. ^^
