My Helsinki trip was pretty awesome.
I think Helsinki is probably one of the cities that i have visited I would most like to live in, the only problem being it's northerly latitude. The Scottish winter is bad enough!

A recent jaunt to Glasgow.
Visited a pretty good exhibition of Swiss contemporary poster design using older non digital methods.
Also went to the Kelvingrove museum & the Botanic gardens, then spent the rest of the day wandering round the semi deserted streets of the west end. I think the best way to try & gauge the atmosphere & feeling of a city is just to wander aimlessly rather than to try and see specific sights.
I was actually quite impressed with the west end of Glasgow, It has a surprisingly pleasant studenty/hip kind of vibe.

7:34 pm - Tokyo Rocks... Literally.

Today I was at the local supermarket shopping for my weekly supply of noodles, when suddenly as I was approching the checkout the whole store jolted sideways then proceeded to shake in a menacing manner for five or so seconds. Products were falling off shelves all around me. I admit I was kind of worried by this. I prompty moved towards the closest doorframe and stood there looking a little shocked. The Japanese seemed to hardly take any notice. Nan desu ka?.. Nan da yo kore!?.. Anata wa daijobu desu ka?. Hai, daijobu desu. A 5.1 magnitude earthquake experienced first hand! I was surprised by the sheer power of the initial jolt. quite a scary experience.... went to the checkout, payed for my noodles & went home... a routine shopping trip in Japan...

A couple of self portraits there,
My mind is made up, I'll be going to Japan in three months time. I feel myself stagnating here at the moment... action needs to be taken,
Looking through my old weblog I found this quote about working at the Pru from April 27th 2004
"One year from now is my limit though.
If I'm still there then somebody shoot me..."
I guess the best thing to do would be to book the flights so I have an exact date to aim for.
In other news I ordered a fisheye lens for my camera the other day so expect some fisheye style shots over at avp soonish.
