| fantastic fog |
[16 Aug 2003|09:46am] |
our last night in france was taken up with a mad bike ride at midnight, through the fog...we could hear beats on the breeze and decided to track the source.. found first of all a party where there was no obvious entrance in someones garden... the dj was obviously completely pissed as he kept changing records after about a minute.. then found a wierd night club in the back roads where really big bouncers were throwing drunk kids out into the middle of nowhere..."cest terminee cest terminee!!" i kept my wine strapped to the back of the bike and pedalled with great fervour,up and out of the village, along the water, through the fields and past the beaches, and marvelled at how fog makes your hair look really good... (its a texture thing) came back from france with cool loot lots of crepes and gallettes and a p.a, some cheese and nutella and a lovely mix desk (blaises)
my car was straining under the weight of the sound system.. but so exciting to have the desk and p.a... one step closer to autonomy spent a night in suspended animation on the boat back only running on one engine out of 3... (like sitting inside a sardine can or a nasty coach for a really really long ride (8 hours)
eventually submitted and crawled under my seat lying next to various crisp bags and sandwich crusts listening to the solitary engine rumbling under me...
people next to us were talking about the fact that one of them had lost his hearing aid, broken his glasses and had just been shouted at by the cabin crew for being where he wasnt meant to be..they were all laughing at his plight in a very english "oh dear, oh well, oh thats nice" kind of way...this i found remarkably light hearted considering the poor guy had spent most of his week unable to see or hear..i think i would have been furious and ill tempered (they had those blow up cushions around their necks to stop them dribbling in public if they fell asleep)
this was followed by a lovely (hah!) 4am drive from poole to london.. arrived as the sun came up and had wine to convince myself it was a sunset not a sunrise anyway all that over and aside we have only today and tomorrow before getting in the studio.. gonna try and keep my mind undawater... big swim keepin me drifting with the flow rather than kicking against the eternal struggle been twisting and bending paranoid for monday.. its my most fav song we have done together and im sure its gonna shine bring on the beauty! gonna take risks and see what happens. fuck being polite...
bisous x

so i sit in the sultry heat imagining the frantic pace of nothing that fits the mould in londoninium...
we are in the studio on our return to record paranoid...this is good and we are happy.
presently we are in bretagne, france, biking swimming and plotting... running a small ship around a little pond avoiding all whirlpools and other dangers that may lurk in an unexpected way. considered joining the throngs for pizza and beer and settled for fire and swimming and muscat instead..all good there... i have been also considering documenting each day as it comes, i think that every wave you catch on the way up is also the same wave that brings you down... im tired of being the unsuspecting recipient of my own minds making... i guess if i put it all down in words i will see the pattern emerging and then feel less surprised by the spread and intensity of each feeling as it passes... i like the pace of the days here... the sun setting paints the world red and pink and orange, i like the sound of the chain on my bike and the clatter of the hallyards on the boats down by the beach, i like the way that i understand no one around me, its gives me more time to think and less time to talk rubbish... the next show is in a couple of weeks...need to re focus in a fluent way..let things happen in their own voice... so here i finish

| impromptu bang |
[24 Jul 2003|03:47pm] |
last night we did the most short notice gig ever..after the night in the parapet which held many twists and unforseen happenings,(inc.lots laughing) very little sleep et all we were called by a manager of a band from windsor who thought we were playing at the underworld. so play the underworld we did... had time for tea, shake out frock and lipstick....threw belongings amps etc in small car and drove to camden...had a beer and got on stage. was a strange end to day so unexpectedly...tested out new tunes which flowed with the undertow..felt clear
managed to construct unfeasibly large 1am dinner afterwards too... always a forte!

| rooftop frivolities |
[21 Jul 2003|12:01pm] |
hmmm band got together last night as twas blaises birthday... it descended into frantic small garden frisbee antics with our illustrious and most special of friends steve p... a lot of food got ate off of a pathetically small throwaway barbeque... searched for lost frisbee on roof and got shouted at by angry neighbours - we deduced the annoyance was probably down to the bizzare records that jon had brought over for our listening pleasure... (lightning bolt...numbers.....glass candy...and there was a bit of magma drama kickingoff aswell i remember).... so tues im starting filming in a parapet at night.true. see you after the event maple xx

| greeting the new day |
[10 Jul 2003|03:26pm] |
have been turning over questions on constant repeat... which way? how? is chasing the unstoppable really a good idea? how long can you keep up with the uncatchable? are the answers are in moments? how do we escape the loop....? practising change is as difficult as practising control... anyway, all this aside i reckon some playing should put things in order....! greetings to everyone reading this too! very happy with the website and the new shots! (thanks james and david!) not long now till we get the real thing back from the virtual factory... (record that is) phew. later then maple xxx
