Good to see you guys didn't have too much fun without me -_- lol. The exhibit in Boston was amazing!! They were pretty strict about the no camera rule, so no pics except the outside. Anyway, Lord of the Ring WAS AMAZING!!!! It was so fantastic! I’m a nerd, so I didn’t learn anything new, but seeing all of those costumes up close like that! And all the weapons and models and everything, it was seriously amazing, we spent 2 hours in this little room just looking at stuff. And laughing at the fangirls who freaked out over Legolas’s stuff, lol. But man….Galadriels dress was so beautiful, I want it, I want to have it for my wedding, whenever that may be. Gorgeous, definitely the most beautiful thing there. We also got pictures taken! You know when Gandalf and Elijah are next to each other? The perspective thing? You sit on the two different sized wagon things and they merge the picture together, so my sister and I did that :) It was great, I’ll scan it in.
Hope you guys had a nice week! I'm heading to school on Saturday (no rest for the weary, yea?) so who knows how often I'll be on until things get settled, I'll do my best though *salutes*

[29 Jul 2004|10:21pm] |
I'm gone for the weekend, so everyone have fun!!
Fellowship of the Ring turns 50 today!! The first publication was July 29, 1954!
FELLOWSHIP AT 50: A Celebration 7/29/04, 1:43 pm EST - Xoanon From MrCere: Fifty years: Governments fall in less time. Young men grow old and old men die. Not only did we get to the moon in the last 50 years, we became bored and stopped going. Species have disappeared, Al Gore invented the internet and communication is virtually instant. The world has shrunk and our view into the universe has grown exponentially. During that time an Oxford professor and a New Zealand filmmaker with a zombie fetish have changed all of pop-culture. [More]
BBC Digs Deep for FOTR At 50 7/29/04, 1:28 pm EST - Xoanon Geri writes: Since FOTR was publised 50 years ago today the BBC have unearthered some reviews from that time. Writing in the Guardian in August 1954, shortly after the publication of The Fellowship of the Ring on 29 July, Herbert Dingle praised Tolkien's "largess". "To have created so enthralling an epic-romance, with its own mythology, with such diversity of scene and character, such imaginative largess in invention and description, and such supernatural meaning underlying the wealth of incident is a most remarkable feat." [More]
Sorting Out Those James Bond Rumors... posted by Marie, 07/29/04, from Ain't It Cool The rumor that is being printed and reprinted this week, though, is that Orlando Bloom will be playing a young James Bond at school. For some reason, people are saying this is a Miramax project. There's a whole lot of stupid in that rumor. MGM/Eon owns Bond and isn't about to give someone else a license to kill their franchise by doing some ridiculous "Young Bond" series. And Miramax can't just decide to make the films without that permission. Forget this rumor right away. It's just pointless noise and mumbles. You want some a real Bond tidbit to chew on? How about the name of the guy who MGM has already tapped to replace Brosnan? I first heard this name floated a month or so ago, but now I've heard it from three fairly solid sources. No paperwork is signed yet, but it looks like they've made their choice, and it's not the long-rumored Clive Owen, and it's not Hugh Jackman, and it's not Hugh Grant, and it's not any of the names I've heard a dozen times before. Nope. Looks like the next guy to suit up and slip on the 007 moniker will be an actor who can really sink his CHOPPERs into the role. A guy who brings a certain HULKing charm to the role. A comedian-turned-action lead who... ummm... oh, how the fuck do I make a lame TROY joke here? Forget it. Bana. Eric Bana. You heard it here first.
ERIC BANA!!!!! *insert fangirl shriek here* I’ve stopped believing everything I here on the internet, so take this as a rumor too.
And thanks to afuneflutter at Greatestjournal, here’s some more news…
Miramax did buy the rights to two Young James Bond books currently being written right now but it is only to publish the books under Miramax Books. The production of any films involving young James Bond is not part of the deal. Charles Higson, who is mentioned in the news as the one who is penning the screenplay, is writing the books. What's more, the James Bond in question is indeed a 13-year-old boy attending Eton.

Dom’s LOST in the UK Channel 4 has picked up the show Lost, so keep an eye on it in the coming months. I imagine L&BA will have more news as it comes up.
UK release date for RotK collector’s boxset According to Amazon.co.uk the release date of The Return of the Kind collector’s boxset, which includes the polystone statue of Minas Tirith, is December 10th 2004.

Just another update :)
One of the updates I posted a few days ago had the wrong code for an Orlando picture...here it is again! ( Orlando at Elizabethtown )
Extended Extended Editions? 7/28/04, 10:04 am EST - Xoanon In a story that may get the attention of many fans, and most certainly the ire of others, Electronic Gaming Monthly reports that there may be Extended Extended editions coming to DVD in the not-so-near future. Or so says the 'LOTR: The Third Age' RPG game Executive Producer, Steve Gray. [More]
You know, I love my movies and all, but if they aren’t fucking kidding me, I’m going to be furious that they screwed me out of that much money in not telling the fans earlier. That’s a really bastard thing to do Jackson.
Comic-Con Footage Transcript 7/27/04, 2:19 pm EST - Xoanon Aegis of Pyros was kind enough to send us a transcript from the Comic-Con ROTK:EE footage! !!!ROTK:EE SPOILERS!!! [More]
Bloom bags Bond role It’s welcome back to the Roger Moore-style of acting with the news that teeny squeal fodder Orlando Bloom is to play James Bond in a film about 007’s early years. And for Roger Moore-style, read wafer-thin hammy acting rather than bushy eyebrow raising and snide remarks about ladies and their bits. Bloom-banga-Bloom has been signed by Miramax for a film “about Bond’s college days" (which is American for university) after the Ian Fleming-inspired character was expelled from Eton. It is not believed to be called Bond: The Early Years. The distinctly-average acting talent of Florida’s biggest attraction (Orlando, not Bond) will be stretched to their absolute limits as Bond gets into all sorts of junior spy capers on his way through tertiary education. Although the billboards will probably say something a bit more zippy.
No matter what actor they picked, I can’t imagine that being anything but a bad movie. Just look at that stupid plot. Give me a break.

From the Metro, found in razzleslash's journal
Orlando Bloom is to play a young James Bond in a new film about the secret agent's early years, it was reported yesterday. The british actor (pictured) N/B: at Cannes, wearing Viggo's Jizz-stained T-Shirt has been signed by Miramax to star in the movie, about Bond's college days after being expelled from Eton. Bloom, 27, went straight from acting school into a major role in The Lord of The Rings trilogy
*cringes*

Figwit Documentary - A Jolly Good Laugh 7/23/04, 4:50 am EST - Tehanu I went along to the Figwit documentary which premiered today as part of the Auckland Film Festival. There was a good turnout of Figwit fans, and judging by the laughter throughout, they enjoyed what they saw. Even if you're not a Figwit fan, there's a lot here to enjoy for any LOTR fan - the worldwide LOTR culture, the in-jokes, and the way the film makers and the fans play off each other. [More] It's playing again in Auckland on Sunday 25 at 11:15 and Wellington on July 30 and 31. [More]

My baby has a new sticker!!! ( CHECK IT OUT! )
How KICK ASS is that? Frodo is going to look so cute with it! I was going to center it on the back wind shield and move the Frodo Lives! sticker to the bottom right and get another sticker (maybe my 'I strip for hobbits' one, or 'Gandalf for President') for the left side. Stupid back window is so bloody small...
AHHH!!!! The nerd in me is having a heart attack.
Wood's 'Happy Feet' not so Happy After All? 7/18/04, 10:08 am EST - Xoanon From AICN: Remember us reporting on the George Miller animated film HAPPY FEET? The one with the penguin voiced by Elijah Wood?....Animal Logic [the SFX house commissioned to bring the project to life] has never done this kind of film before. The company's basically expanded by a factor of ten to do it. All of this to bring George's vision of completely photo-real CG penguins to life. But in all this activity, all this work, there's been one thing that everyone's overlooked... photo-realistic penguins CAN'T ACT!!! [More]
It took them HOW long to figure that out?!
