Well I've just been having a quick look at the budget and of course I can't say I'm particularly thrilled by it. I mean it's all well and great that there's all this money being invested in Internet, but I wonder if Internet is classified under the "Technology Sector", because surely a budget should be aimed at driving technology in a number of sectors, not just communication, when there's already such a plethora of communication mechanisms, of course I'm not complaining, but it just seems a little odd.

Aboriginal budgeting, great, I'm happy for them, but then again it completely overrides the fact that Australia is a diverse nation and there are plenty of other ethnic communities that suffer health issues, and quality of life issues, perhaps my only complaint is that the amount is too little.

The environment, well that seems quite reasonable but the focus seems to be on climate change and doesn't really address the important issue of water, and water management infrastructure.

Health, well I have quite strong opinions about health, I mean recently I've been to a variety of health institutions from hospitals to dental care facilities, from private to public, and you want to know something, from what I've seen the infrastructure along with the equipment is top of the line in fact, I would be right in saying, that perhaps some of the equipment is so leading edge, that it hasn't had enough time to be qualified in terms of it's usefulness. By which I mean, that it's all well and good to buy the latest product off the shelf, but is it any better, than a stainless steal implement bought 10 years ago which still does the job, I know a lot of people would argue with me on that point, but all I'm saying is that the highest grade equipment alone does not guarantee a good health care system.

Finally De fence - well again this seem's to me to be an area where money is just being poured down the drain of course I'm sure the Government likes to inject as much income as it can in the "boy's club", and of course it seem's as though really by sticking their noses in other peoples business is the only way they can maintain increased expenditure. Of course there's also the increased spending on Foreign Aid, which again, when so much of Australia remains undeveloped I have to wonder why that money isn't being invested in here to combat the many issues that remain not on the Rudd Agenda so far.

My main contentions with this budget is that it fails to address employment for the unemployed and the gross inequity of the wages system. It fails to deliver on building work projects over the broad range of industries in Australia. It fail's to deliver on housing projects for the future Australians. And it most certainly fails the Australian Arts industry. It fail's to deliver on investment and research for building industries in Australia, and most certainly leads to a heavy reliance on "other nations doing the job"....Anyway, that's the way I see it. One other point of interest that I have noticed recently where Adelaide in particular could do with some revamping is building sites. Lately I've visited a number of building sites which one would most certainly classify as derelict...if not down right dangerous, and I wonder why they aren't either being demolished....or at least given an overhaul....other than for lack of investment.

So that's it...that's my personal opinion. Anyone is welcome to add their own comments.
