9:05p - Nail Me With Prose
Emergencies create emergencies...simple as that. Is the Lipcrack Site in an emergency situation... you decide. Over the past few weeks I've noticed that the site has not been receiving all mail, also when I've tried to access via FTP we've been unable to connect to the server to download some of the files. Now normally this wouldn't be such a major deal, you'd be able to contact your ISP and resolve any issues, well that's normally, and with most things to do with Lipcrack these day's, we find what is normal, what we would expect and what we get are two different things. I'm not going to go into all the in's and out's of it right here and now, because it's way to long although I may post the transcripts with the provider at some stage. But let's just say as a result of us asking some questions, over a two day period, we were informed that we had a 12 hour period to remove our site from their service, no other reason given other than that we had asked for too many service support question....so go figure ??? We actually think it's a little bit more serious than that, but ask yourself this question ?? How do you download a major site when you have no FTP access, and the file manager system doesn't allow you to download pages ?? Not good. We did suggest that we would use the FTP access to remote services and change the service over to another company we had looked at for the hosting of the site...and well of course refer to Iceexplosive Journal http://www.blurty.com/~iceexplosive Assholes will be Assholes...So whatever..we were refused this request..although we do now have a g-zip of all files ...
What it has done though has created a major overhaul situation, like I mentioned, when everything's going smooth, you can imagine stormy weather is approaching, and this was it. After letting the company know we'd done a little preliminary research on them prior to opening the account, they were somewhat surprised by what we dug up (W3Com), and have tried to negotiate one month free, but I figure that's just a way for them to try and walk away from a situation whereby we paid for a service that we haven't received so far, and they're trying to blame it on the "Australian Network" as the reason why we can't access the FTP. Now I'm not going to drag this out, I'll conduct a few more test with other FTP programs over the next couple of day's , but in the meantime we've started negotiating with a new service provider. If there is an interruption to the service we hope it will only be a couple of day's while we change files over. So yeah...nothing like a major hurdle on your birthday week but, once again nothing that a bit of quick action and ingenuity can't work it's way around. Of course I could just throw the thing up in the air and go for a Lipcrack, Iceexplosive Journal and the Web Cam, which personally to me are the best part's of the site, but we still have music to get out there, and we've not going to let those that would prefer that we didn't ....stop us.
(Unsure of who to trust. e.g. is it a Network issue or ftp problem)
So does it sound like were being more aggressive than ever ?? No not really , we're being more passive than ever..basically "Hey you want to stuff us around?" "Stuff us around, but there's over 500,000 or however many web hosting companies that are out there looking for business, and if we burn a few bridges and tell you what a bunch of pricks we think you are in the meantime, well good for us, because we've had our say".
Other than that, I could make this a client building relationship course , and some of you no doubt will walk away because we've not managed to maintain this relationship, but the fact is, that in business if someone's costing you time and business by not having the expertise you require then exit that situation as soon as possible.
That obviously was the good new's...this week well there isn't any bad new's ...and besides...who's got time for bad new's...
Which leaves us with this week's answer and new Crack question...and depending on how much of a Cracker you really are you might have picked up a pretty big Criminology clue, and if you didn't well you might learn something..
The answer was in fact
D) A Xylophone
The clue, well you might have noticed the capital X, thus indicating an over emphasis on this particular choice which was in fact the correct answer.
I hated the recorder because I didn't like the sound it made, the toy piano well I use to just whack the shit out of it because it annoyed people and I enjoyed that , the real piano, after year's of lessons and Junior School Assembly Hall performances, it annoyed the shit out of me because all I was doing was playing classical music and I saw no escape from it, my dad's guitars I picked up for the first time after getting back from the Van's tour and loved it to death, that was five year's ago...so no...I wasn't a child...and the xylophone...well it was a little toy battery operated thing that made this totally wicked sound on vibrato....yyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuunnnnnn..so yeah D)
Okay this one's tricky....
What color nail polish am I wearing this week :
a) beam and illuminate b) vice and gold mine c) shade 17 and cosmic sparkle d) cherry zing and shazam e) bomb and shade 17
and that people is it...see you when we are next out of trouble...
Oh yeah...did I mention I had a great birthday ?? Well I did, so thanks to eveyone that bought some joy....however small or large...
current mood: high (comment on this)
