I had my first training for TGIF yesterday. They gave me a crap-load of information to memorize, including the ingredients of 7 dishes and most of the menu. Tonight was supposed to be my alcohol course and Thursday was going to be my huge test day. Essentially, I had training class every night this week from 5pm to 8pm and then again Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9am with 3-4 separate tests. It was brutal looking. I was positive I could handle it and wasn't too worried until I came to discover that waitresses working the evening shift work from 5pm to 1am. 1:00AM? I could understand this on a Friday night but I can't work till 1am on a Monday night and then wake up at 7:00 am to get ready for class - it's just impossible.

I thought all day about what I should do. I was petrified to back down now that I'd made it through my interview and first training session, but Petco had called 4 days ago and if I waited any longer on calling the Petco manager it would just look awful. So I took a plunge, I called the manager, set up an interview for 2:30 tomorrow, and handed in my things at TGIF thanking them for the offer but explaining there was just no way I'd be able to juggle it all.

They seemed okay with it, though it's not like I expected them to yell at me or anything. I feel relieved now. Petco is where I wanted to work in the first place. I've been wanting to work there for months now since I applied for Doggie Day camp the day before they shut it down.

Anyway, it's nice to know I have my evenings back this week. I'd felt so rushed with all my homework. I already finished two of my assignments that aren't even due yet (hooray for me!). Now I'm going to make tacos for Daniel, Racquel and I. I've been craving them alll day.

I have a semi-secret. The past few nights I've been sneaking off to the music section of Barnes and Noble. I spend about an hour there discovering new reggae and island artists. It makes me feel a little bit closer to Hopetown.

Since I've been there I've discovered Beenie Man. To my surprise I actually already know 1 or 2 of his songs from Hopetown. I've also discovered a few Buju Banton songs.

I don't think any of my friends enjoy the same music I do but anyway, here are some of my hidden treasures (you're probably not going to like them)

Akon - Sorry, Blame it on Me
Bankie Banx - Still in Paradise
Beenie Man - Dreaming of You
Beenie Man - Everyone Falls In Love
Beenie Man - Girls Dem Sugar
Blood Diamond Soundtrack - Baai
Buju Banton - Wanna Be Loved
Chris Brown ft T-Pain - Kiss Kiss
The Dream - Shawty is a Ten
Jah Hem - Come Here Girl
Kevin Lyttle - Dance With Me
Kevin Lyttle - Drive Me Crazy
Plies ft. Akon - Hypnotized
Sean Kingston - Take You There
Shaggy - Strength of a Woman
Sugar Ray - Into Yesterday
R. Kelley ft Sean Paul and Akon - Slow Wind For Me
Rihanna ft. NeYo - Hate That I Love You
Tito El Bambino - Sol, Playa, y en la arena (yes, it's a spanish song)
Wyclef Jean - Million Voices (from Hotel Rwanda)
Wyclef Jean - Perfect Gentleman
Wyclef Jean - Your Love
Yung Joc - Hear Me Coming

It's weird because this past year I think I've truly come to find my music taste :)
