6:17pm: "Holiday Ode"
The Day After Christmas

'Twas the day after Christmas
And this sure was infrequent
But at returning his books
Santa Claus was delinquent

He got to keep them a year
Cause he lives so far away
But he never showed up
And they were due Christmas day

Then into the library
Santa burst big and grand
And walked straight to the desk
With his excuses all planned

"I got stuck in six chimneys
Which makes it tough to stay perky
And my sleigh hit some traffic
Going past Albuquerque"

"But I have the books all right here
You'll understand I assume
They are just a day late"
The librarian went, "Hmmm"

She shook her head back and forth
And said, "Those aren't good signs
But just this once, Mr. Claus
I will waive all your fines"

Then Santa jumped in his sleigh
That was parked in the yard
With not a stain on his heart
Or his library card!
