    Two month ago, my Dell E1505 battery failed after its 1 year warranty. So I should buy a new one for my coming holiday in Hawaii. Now I will never shopping in Ebay or Amazon. As you know you buy someone there, and no guarantee of the product, also the money refund is impossible. And you can not cancel the order. So I decide use my paypal to buy the Dell inspiron E1505 battery.



    I searched the Inspiron E1505 Battery in google and found search resault. Then I click some of them, after long time comparison I order a battery from http://www.discount-laptopbattery.com as Its price and 30 days money back and one year quality warranty. After 7days I recevied the battery and below is my battery using experience:




    I was getting three red flashes and one green flash continuously on the battery light on the lower right side of the lid which according to the manual means defective battery which turned out to be true. I trashed the cheap Latitude D820 Battery (which I noticed was rated at 5200 ma vs the rating of 7200 on the Amazon battery)because I did not save the receipt. I am thrilled with this battery which is giving me about 3 hours before needing a charge, and charges to 100% overnight with no problem.



    It works well with my 1505. I got 4 + hours out of this per charge. Saw some other people having problem with recognizing the batteries. When I was doing research for purchasing a replacement Latitude D620 Battery, I came across a lot of discussions online about Dell laptop not recognizing batteries. I wonder if that is a common issue with Dell. Luckily, mine has no problem. :)
    Everything is good. As long as it can last 1 year or so, It would be worth the money spent.



    Owned for 5+ months. I am pleased with this Latitude D830 Battery I was glad to find it at a price much lower than Dell was selling it. It was a great buy. Product came right when I needed it and has worked great for me! Good battery life.



    In all The battery is compatible and works well with the Vostro 1000. Instructions are confusing. I simply installed and followed good battery practices - completely charged the battery, completely drained the battery, then repeated.

    After using for months, the battery get weak and cant fully discharge. Also in this situation the laptop battery's 76% even less in work.Now we need to Calibrate laptop battery. I found a note about recondition laptop battery from Dell laptop battery manufacturers handbook. Surprisingly, it offered some really helpful laptop battery calibration and maintenance tips, which Id like to share with you:



    Calibrating a Battery Pack



    When to Calibrate laptop battery

    Even if a battery pack is heavily used, it should not be necessary to calibrate it more than once a month. It is not necessary to calibrate a new Dell GK479 pack before first use. However, make sure that the battery pack is fully charged, especially if it is the only power source.



    Calibrate Dell 1721 Battery ack under the following conditions:

    ? When the battery status display seems inaccurate.

    ? When you observe a significant change in normal batteryrun time.

    ? When the battery pack has not been used for one monthor more.


    How to Calibrate laptop battery

    To Calibrate Inspiron 1501 Battery pack, you must fully charge, fully discharge, and then fully recharge the battery pack.


    Charging the Battery Pack


    Fully charge the Sony VGP-BPS8 battery pack when the notebook is in use. To charge the battery pack:

    1. Insert the battery pack into the notebook.

    2. Connect the notebook to external power through an AC adapter. (The battery light turns on.)

    The battery light turns off when the battery pack is fully charged.

    Discharging the Battery Pack


    Disabling Hibernation

    To fully discharge the battery pack, disable Hibernation temporarily.

    To disable Hibernation:

    ? Select the Power Meter icon on the taskbar or access Power Options > Hibernate, and clear the Enable Hibernate support check box.

    After the battery light turns off, which indicates that the battery pack is fully charged, begin discharging the VGP-BPS8 VGP-BPS9 pack.




      To fully discharge the Sony battery pack:
    1. Select the Power Meter icon on the taskbar, or select Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options > Power Schemes.

    2. Write down the 3 settings in the Plugged In column and the settings in the Running on Batteries column, so you can reset them after calibration.

    3. Select the drop-down lists and set all 6 options in both columns to Never.

    4. Select the OK button.

    5. Disconnect the notebook from the external power source, but do not turn off the notebook.

    6. Run the notebook on battery power until the battery pack is fully discharged. The battery light begins to blink when the battery pack has discharged to a low-battery condition. When the battery pack is fully discharged, the power/Standby light turns off and the notebook shuts down.




      Recharging the Toshiba laptop Battery Pack
    1. Connect the notebook to external power and keep the notebook connected until the battery pack is fully recharged and the battery light turns off.

    2. ?You can use the notebook while the battery pack is recharging, but the battery pack will charge faster if the notebook is turned off.
    3. Select the Power Meter icon on the taskbar or select Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > PowerOptions > Power Schemes.

    4. Reenter the 3 settings you wrote down for the 3 options in the Plugged In column and for the 3 options in the Running on Batteries column.

    5. Select the OK button.

    My main computer is a HP zv5000 battery- it uses the fan and heat sinks to cool the processor. By using these heat sink (copper?), And piping to collect a lot to reduce the cooling capacity of the machine a little dust. If you do not have this particular machine, do not worry. Overall the battery is fair considering that it is the only one you can buy for the Inspiron 1520. It will last you for about a year, then be ready to buy a new one.

    Laptops are getting sophisticated, faster, lighter. The one thing still trailing behind is the battery. Following are things you can do on your laptop to conserve power and extend its Laptop battery life.


    Power Scheme Mode - -


    Selecting the right "power scheme" will help to prolong the life of laptop battery. Use the "Low Power Mode" since it will not consume more power than "Max Power Mode" battery.


    To adjust battery setting: Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance. Click on the "Power Options" icon. The power setting window will appear, make your settings from there on.


    - - Stop Background Programs - -


    Pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Delete simultaneously to bring up the Task Manager. Under the first tab (Applications), you can see all the current "open" programs that are running on your laptop, try to close the background from your DLSR Battery Grip.


    Click the Process tab, next to the Applications. You will see all the real-time processing items on your laptop, kill those that you are not using. All the unused programs but are running will increase the CPU usage, which in turn will cause a lots of wasting power.     Is the runtime of a portable device directly related to the size of the laptop battery? The answer should be 'yes' but in reality, the runtime is governed by other attributes than the specified capacity alone.


    This paper examines the cause of unexpected downtime and short battery service life. We look at four renegades - declining capacity, increasing internal resistance, elevated self-discharge and premature voltage cut-off on discharge. We evaluate how these regenerative deficiencies affect nickel, lead and lithium-based batteries.
    Declining capacity
    The amount of charge a laptop battery can hold gradually decreases due to usage and aging. Specified to deliver 100% capacity when new, the battery should be replaced when the capacity drops to below 80% of the nominal rating. Some organizations may use different end-capacities as a minimal acceptable performance threshold.


    The energy storage of a battery can be divided into three imaginary sections consisting of: available energy, the empty zone that can be refilled, and the unusable part (rock content) that increases with aging. Figure 1 illustrates these three sections.

    In nickel-based batteries, the so-called rock content is present in form of crystalline formation, also known as memory. Restoration is possible with a full discharge to one volt per cell. However, if no service is done for four months and longer, a full repair becomes increasingly more difficult the longer service is withheld. To prevent memory, nickel-based batteries should be deep-cycled once every one or two months. Nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal-hydride batteries are used for two-way radios, medical instruments and power tools.


    Performance degradation of the lead-acid battery is caused by sulfation and grid corrosion. Sulfation is a thin layer that forms on the negative cell plate if the battery is being denied a fully saturated charge. Sulfation can, in part, be corrected with cycling and/or topping charge. The Battery grid corrosion, which occurs on the positive plate, is caused by over-charge. Lead-acid batteries are used for larger portable devices and wheeled applications.


    Lithium-ion Toshiba laptop batteries lose capacity through cell oxidation, a process that occurs naturally during use and aging.     The self-discharge on all battery chemistries increase at higher temperatures. Typically, the rate doubles with every 10°C (18°F). A noticeable energy loss occurs if a battery is left in a hot vehicle.


    Aging and usage also affect self-discharge. nickel-metal-hydride is good for 300-400 cycles, whereas nickel-cadmium may last over 1000 cycles before high self-discharge affects the performance. An older nickel-based Sony laptop battery may lose its energy during the day through self-discharge rather than actual use. Discard a battery if the self-discharge reaches 30% in 24 hours.


    Nothing can be done to reverse this deficiency. Factors that accelerate self-discharge are damaged separators induced by crystalline formation, allowing the packs to cook while charging, and high cycle count, which promotes swelling in the cell. Lead and lithium-based batteries do not increase the self-discharge with use in the same manner as their nickel-based cousins do.
    Premature voltage cut-off
    Not all stored battery power can be fully utilized. Some equipment cuts off before the designated end-of-discharge voltage is reached and precious battery energy remains unused. Applications demanding high current bursts push the battery voltage to an early cut-off. This is especially visible on iBook G4 battery with elevated internal resistance. The voltage recovers when the load is removed and the battery appears normal. Discharging such a battery on a moderate load with a battery analyzer to the respective end-of-discharge threshold will sometimes produce residual capacity readings of 30% and higher, jet the battery is inoperable in the equipment.
