Start Fixing Healthy Snacks For Your Kids
In previous generations, a typical after school snack would be cookies with milk. No more sugar, no more crash, healthy snacks for kids may be simpler than you think. Simplicity is best when it comes to snacking for kids - you don't want it to be too time consuming on your behalf. Preparing healthy snacks for kids in advance is advised, and will take much of the strain off of a busy mom or dad. Portability and healthiness are the two most important traits of any snack for children.

With the perfect dip, any vegetable stick becomes an irresistible treat. For that occasional sweet tooth, cinnamon bread made with the bare minimum of sugar and raisins makes for a filling late afternoon snack. An added bonus of serving a platter of sliced local, in season fruit is that you're supporting local farmers. Berries are portable, colorful, and give substantial amounts of vitamin C while being low in harmful sugars.

Stomachs are filled rapidly when eating peanut butter, which grants extremely rare oils and nutrients, making it an ideal choice as healthy snacks for kids. Almond and cashew butter, while a little more expensive, are good substitutes with half the fat of peanut butter. Nuts are some of the most filling and nutritious food items for you, and snacking kids will love the salty taste. Yoghurt covered pretzels are simple, effective substitutes for the common cookie. These are relatively simple to make, using only pretzels, yoghurt, and an efficiently cold freezer.

Boxed or packaged juices are often great sources of calories, and organic brands offer greater taste and nutritional value for their price, making healthy snacks for kids even easier. Offering great portability, thermoses can be filled with a variety of delicious homemade beverages for your child to enjoy, such as fruit smoothies or tea.

A little garlic salt and cheese on plain popcorn is a good alternative to those cheesy, fatty snacks in bags. If being absolutely pressured for baked goods, you can shrink the size of the individual snacks into petite sizes, and using minimal sugar they become less harmful to the healthy snacking child. Using the pulped versions of various vegetables, such as beets, the most unhealthy baked good becomes a little better. Boiled eggs with toppings of the child's choice are always fun and filling.

Healthy snacking for kids is made easier by the noble graham cracker, both tasty and low carb. Nut butters and the graham crackers go surprisingly well together, and healthy snacks for kids become a tasty and irresistible treat. Banana bread is not only sinfully easy to make, but healthy to the extreme when not made with too much sugar and spread with butter.

Low fat yoghurt with fruit and honey, and maybe a showering of nuts, can be presented as dessert, or in a cup on the way to a soccer match. When offered many different varieties of snack foods, a child on the path of healthy snacking will feel empowered by making the decision themself, and you'll feel good knowing they're eating right.
