'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal Two very different blogs… My blog has no direction, and quite deliberately never did. This allowed me to write what I wanted when I wanted and not contravene the aim/ focus of the blog. There was never an aim or focus: it was just somewhere where I posted silly stuff that I hoped would make my friends/ readers laugh, and wrote the odd article on something that I was interested in or something that had randomly inspired me or bobbed into my head. My writing style is nothing if not sporadic and blithery and almost transcription of exactly the way I talk: hardly journalist award winning. A blog that I enjoy reading is that of Professor Sapient: he has a blog with a focused theme. He seemingly reads up on current socio-political happenings, and makes commentary on them. He does so rather eloquently, if occasionally a little over passionately. He also manages to be inspired every two or three days, and write like a professional political writer. Both blogs are completely valid, and completely relevant, and (hopefully) entertaining in this internet dependent world. The difference being that one has infinite possibilities, and the other has quite obviously burnt out. Sapient is a new blogger, which could to some extent explain his enthusiasm for bloggery; whereas this blog has been in existence since 2003 and is old as the hills. But that doesn’t alter the fact that my blog is a shadow of its former self for the simple reason I’m inspired less these days and am distracted by other interests. And to some extent, I feel like I’ve run out of things that I want to write about. The truth is that I have neither the motivation or political knowledge (or indeed, the desire to acquire political knowledge) to be able to write the kind of stuff that Sapient writes. And I sometimes disagree with the extremes of opinion that he voices, but he generally hits the nail on the head for this woolly libertarian. However, his most recent entry is a magnificent, valid, eloquent, and charming piece which, almost word perfectly, expresses my opinion on the topic. As I say, I could never write the well-informed, eloquent, passionate political stuff that Sapient does, but lets pretend I could: click the link, and go read Sapient’s latest entry then pretend it was written by me! ;) (See – I have to use smileys to express myself. How much do I suck?!) (And that was incorrect grammar too) (So was that) (I could go on for hours, you know) (I really could) [rolls eyes] (See – I did it again!) Ad infinitum… Have fun, M x Current mood: Current music: Frozen by Celldweller. |
