'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal Long overdue, I know… As you may have gleaned from my blogs over the last month, I’ve done lots of interesting things recently and taken pics of it. Today is the day that I will finally get off my backside and post up pics from various different events. Please check back later. Have fun, M x Current mood: Current music: It's A Girl Thing by My Life Story. I still can’t quite believe that I did this! On 26th August 2006, I was half naked in front of 250,000 people. I was foolish enough to agree to go on the University of Salford’s Staff and Student LGBT float in the Manchester Pride Parade. The theme for the staff was Naughty School Masters. We borrowed gowns off the Uni, bought spinning mortar boards off ebay, and canes from Ann Summers (It amuses me immensely that my mate Gary had to take his receipt from a sex shop to Finance to claim back his expenses – the faces of the old dears that work there must have been priceless!). So there we were, on a scary truck that made you stagger every time it moved, with our tops off in front of the whole of bloody Manchester. I so nearly bottled it! As the parade began, I felt sick, and thought I might feint. Then Gary came to my rescue and told me that he was having great success telling off old ladies like they were naughty school kids. So I thought ‘bollocks’ and spent an hour and a half asking OAPs if they were behaving and that I was watching their behaviour. I even managed to taunt the poor unfortunate security guards, much to the delight of the crowd! It was fun, and is another tick in the box of things to do before I’m old and boring, but it was terribly intimidating to begin with, and I’m glad I got into it and had a fun time being mean to old dears! As I say, it’s something I can say I’ve done, but not something I’ll probably do again… ![]() Me On The Float Yay! My first gay wedding! Friends of ours got married last Saturday (2nd Sept): the first gay couple I know to have done so. As is befitting gays, it was possibly the most lavish and expensive wedding I’ve ever seen! Here are the pics… ![]() The Cake! Yup, that really is a cake. It looked like something you’d buy for a little girl's Disney Doll it was so intricate. I’ve never seen anything like it! ![]() Mark and Rob Don’t we scrub up well?! ![]() Julian and Rob One too many, gentlemen? ![]() Mark and Rob with the happy couple. Big love, and good luck to you both! Another ‘I can’t quite believe I did this’ thing! On 4th August, I went to the annual Madhouse Minicon in Wisbech. Basically, they’re a get together of like minded gamers who play the majority of their games online or by post. It was originally an opportunity to meet the people you play with; now it’s just a big get together of mates. I love me minicons… For the past few years at the ‘cons, a group of us have put on a play. There’ve been pics of me in dresses, skirts, belly dancer outfits, and various other cossies from these plays on the blog. This time, I drunkenly suggested that it’d be cool to completely bic my head and do something crazy onstage involving me with no hair. No-one thought I’d go through with it. I did. These are the pics of the process of baldifying me, and the reason why it was worth it. This was me just before I got biced. This is where I started getting a little apprehensive. That’s shaving foam on my head so that Abbi could bic it. I look like a thug! I then shaved my face, and this is me looking shocked at how scary I looked And this is the reason why: Clive did me proud by painting my whole head so I could play a badass skeletal warrior! And finally, a pic of some of the rest of the cast. From left to right: Ian as ‘Minion’, Bill as a goblin, Rob as a zombie, and Abbi as a goblin. Over a month late, but better late than never! I went to London hoping to prove that I am not shit at taking photos. I failed… ![]() Me and an ice cream van (and some bigass clock) ![]() Clive and Clive For some reason this amused me immensely. My friend is called Clive and that is a statue of Clive… of India. ![]() Me and Alex Somewhere in Soho! I got lost shortly afterwards… ![]() D, Laura, Helen, crazy people Helen made friends with some crazy foreigners – I’m not sure if they were French, German, or just a bit crazy… |
