'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal My immediate response is: eeeeeeeeeeeeeer… Okay, I’ve never played Cthulu. Tabletop wise, I’ve played Dungeons & Dragons, Buffy/ Angel RPG, Ars Magica, a system based on the Dungeonworld PBM, and various other systems of my own and other people’s concoctions. I’ve heard of Cthulu, but that’s about it. I love the t’internet. You don’t know about something, you just type it into google, and Bob’s your dad’s brother. So I typed ‘Call of Cthulu’ into google, and am now something resembling vaguely clued up about the game. Apparently, it’s based on HP Lovecraft, which has got to be a good thing. However, to really understand an RPG, you need the opinion of a knowledgeable geek. Enter, the wonderful and magnificent and generally fluffy and lovely ‘Gribble The Munchkin’/ Ninja Oli who’s opinion I value as his geek knowledge is both admirable and scary. The game and mythos are dark horror in a gothicy kind of sense, think 19th century Brits hunting ancient tomes, finding them, reading them, going mad, ending up in an asylum babbling about dark things in the void. Along come the characters and follow his footsteps, etc. Its renowned in the RPG world as being the game you are most likely to lose a character in either through total insanity or death. So from looking at the creepy Cthulu website and from what Oli has to say, I think it looks damned cool. So I say, yes, Call of Cthulu needs a rebirth on the RPG circuit. I’d like to play it some time. Have fun, M x * This is no. 4 of the 13 blog challenges from so very long ago. Current mood: Current music: Numb by Darling Violetta.
