'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

10th October, 2005. 1:18 pm. Monthly Review - September 2005

Oh dear… I’m 27.

WORK
We have been brutally snowed under in our office with the end of the Summer courses, registration week, and everything else seeming to come at the same time, and it’s been quite, quite stressful. A certain person has behaved herself and been civil with me, which is actually a little bit freaky.
Big news is that, after the huge efforts of myself and my colleague who’s working on it with me, my pet project Languages For All has been wonderfully successful and exceeded all expectations. We have had 6 times the amount of applications compared to last year. I am feeling quite, quite proud right now, and have mucho kudos within the school.
I rock (and so does my colleague).

MONEY
Hmmmm. I’ve had worse months… I may not even go over my overdraft limit this month!

LOVE LIFE
After a humdinger of an argument, I actually believe our relationship is stronger. I think we truly understand how important we are to each other now.

NINJA
With the new ninjas arriving on the scene, I am enjoying being perceived as a complete nutter, hardcore, tempered psychopath who finds pain funny.
Oh… I am actually a complete nutter, hardcore, tempered psychopath who finds pain funny.

HEALTH
Perhaps feeling a little bit better than last month, but ultimately feeling unfit and lazy. Still need to work on this!

BOOKS
Um… I read chapter one of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, enjoyed it, and then found a grand total of no more time for the rest of the month. Doh!

MUSICA
Have managed to get a couple of gigs of new music off friends (via my lovely memory stick), and then listened to nothing but old stuff recently.

FILM
Due to time constraints (and the fact I want to get this up before November), I shall do a ‘rollover’ month next month with this topic.

TELLY
Ditto.

RPG AND GAMING
Am still loving the Ars Magica that I’m playing with phee and Oli. All three mages are getting quite, quite badass and powerful now. Santiago is working on his Terram magic and has created his first spell. The magi managed to save the Local lord from the clutches of a witch in one session. They also managed to rescue a kidnapped girl from some misguided Fae in a session run by yours truly.
World of Warcraft wise, I have hardly played Santu (he is still level 50), but have been spending a large amount of time playing my new character, Pizzak, the Orc Warrior. He is level 20 now and has very high engineering skills. Problem is that he's a bit camp and geeky in his pink chain mail, hotpants, and spectacles.

BLOGGING & T’INTERNET
Saw this amusing pic on a mates profile on a board I’m a member of, and it made me laugh:

In other news, WWE are heavily expanding their website, so I've been using that a lot recently, but I got rather peeved when some of the content was for American viewers only and block people from other countries from watching it. If there are any geeks who think they can help me get round this, please get in touch.
Other than that, it's been a bit quiet on the t'internet front - I've not found anything cool to play with really, but some old favourites like Order of the Stick, Full Frontal Nerdity, Alien Loves Predatior, and Weebl's Stuff have had some good updates recently.
As for blogs – no comment!

BLOGROLL
I’ve added two more blogs to my blogroll this month – isn’t it looking ever so healthy?! Goodness! People are all becoming geeks! Gribble and Rich are lovely and their blogs are lovely.
Unfortunately, I appear to have lost the link to Backstage Mike’s blog. Mike: please email me your blog address!

ANYTHING ELSE INTERESTING?
I've had some nice evenings in with lovely people over the last month. I'm finding that I much prefer these to going to a club these days. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it's rare that I will go clubbing - it's either round a mates or up the pub. I really am feeling my age!
Saying that, I had a huge birthday bash which I shared with my friend Ryoko (who's birthday is exactly the same date as mine), and hired out the downstairs of a bar/ nightclub! Loads of people came along, and once again I was humbled by the loyalty of my friends. Thanks so much to everyone for coming!

THE WHOLE MONTH IN A FEW WORDS
Yay – good month; Doh – 27.

Have fun,
