'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

7th October, 2005. 11:58 am. If You Scratch His Backside, He'll Scratch Yours

My h'penny's worth on an email I received today...

I'm basing my opinions on the blogs that I actually read:
Alley Katt
Bowch
Big Fat Man
fishmonger malarky
Gribble The Munchkin
Monkeys and Pirates
Microsatellite
Nathaniel Westbury
Picture of Flowers
Pickled Pixie
Prince Gaz
Shooting Parrots

Personally, I've more than once contemplated the use/ theme for my blog and come up with nothing. For me, that's the point: it's just there for me, when I'm inspired in any way, to blither something. I also see it as a way to keep people up to date with my life, and if I can, make people laugh. That's it really, and in my blog reading experience, the majority of the blogs I read are like that. In fact, all the blogs above are people I consider friends, who all but one I have actually met in person.

Some people write very specifically themed blogs, which are mostly anonymous. Good examples are:
My Life As A Morrison’s Employee
Rubbish Gays
Tard Blog
Incidentally, My Life As A Morrison’s Employee removed his blog after someone was sacked from Waterstones for blogging about how he disliked his boss.

I would say that Nathaniel Westbury and Microsatellite transgress both types of blog.

So I guess that it depends what your aim is: write something interesting on a concrete topic, keep your mates updated, or combine the two?

Clear as mud?

Have fun,

M x

PS: Paul, I think your random emails that you send out would make a fine, fine blog!
