'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal Oh nooooooooo! Only 1 month ‘til I’m 27! WORK So so, you know... JOB HUNTING Perhaps I should just delete this embarrassing section? MONEY Perhaps I should just delete this embarrassing section? LOVE LIFE Perhaps I should just delete this nauseatingly slushy section? Incidentally, the middle of next month is our one year anniversary! NINJA Once again I have hardly been to any classes this month, but it’s not actually my fault! Ninja Rich, rather inconsiderately in my opinion, decided that he has a life out of Ninjutsu and went on holiday for three weeks meaning that half the lessons were cancelled. Much to my dismay, the next grading, when I was going to do my brown belt, has been scheduled for a weekend that I can’t make. Bah! HEALTH I’ve been okay this month if you ignore hay fever. I am getting unfitter by the day due to chronic laziness. Bah! BOOKS Interesting aint it? I read maybe five chapters of Bill Bryson in three months, and the whole of a certain Mr Potter book in just over a week. What can I say about Potter except that once again, it was a truly compelling, beautifully written book, and that I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it. MUSICA My whole MP3 collection is now safely stored on (over 50!) back up discs. Took me a bloody age, it did! I feel that I have achieved something this month. The great thing is that whenever I go round someone’s now, I can present them with the stacky thing with all the discs on and say: copy what you want. Early in the month, Rob and I went to see NIN live: they were effing awesome! Trent Resnor is so fit and has such a powerful voice! FILM Cinema? What’s that?! I’ve not been once this month. How rubbish am I? I’ve also mainly had telly programmes on my screenselect too. Elektra A very disappointing film about such a cool character. I was gutted. ** TELLY Lots of telly programmes hired on DVD… Ally McBeal - Season 4 The best season of Ally ever! Robert Downey Jnr stole the show and it was truly upsetting when Rob informed me that he got fired. I’ve been told not to bother with season 5… **** Jonathan Creek = Series 3 More of the same, but when that same is dead good, who am I to complain? If it aint broken, don’t fix it. **** Jonathan Creek = Series 4 It wasn’t broken, but because Caroline Quentin left, they had to fix it. It could have been awful, but casting such a great actress as Julia Sawallawalla (whatever) was a good move. The chemistry between her and Alan Davis was just as good as that of Caroline Quentin. Adrian Edmonson stole the show too. **** Jonathan Creek = Christmas Specials Two great episodes of Jonathan… **** Star Wars – Clone Wars Limited and simplistic plot wise, and without the proper actors playing the parts… But this is Star Wars – as long as there’s light sabre fights, I’m happy - and the animation was fab! *** The Mighty Thor - series 1 Amusing 60s animated TV series, worth it for a few moments retro, but ultimately rather dull. ** Chocky’s Children As a follow up, not written by Wyndham, this could have been awful. As it was it was perfectly watchable, and sometimes quite nail-biting stuff. *** The Day of the Triffids Just like the book (one of my all time favourites), this was dark and moody. Excellent direction, and despite the blatent fibreglass triffids, it managed to be chilling, and nerve-wracking. Superb! ***** Agatha Christie’s Marple: Murder at the Vicarage Perfectly charming adaptation of Miss Marple. Having grown up with Joan Hickson as Marple, I always assume she’s going to be a harsh and cold person, but the new Marple is a sweet old lady, which might be a little difficult to get used to. *** Hetty Wainthropp Investigates - Series 1 I remember this from when I was young, and it’s still wonderfully gentle, enjoyable Sunday afternoon light entertainment… and Dominic Monaghan is well fit. **** RPG AND GAMING Santu is chugging along in WoW, up to level 45 now. I was worried about longevity with WoW, but I am still loving it just as much as ever. He’s making quite a lot of gold these days, and picking up some nice kit in Dungeons. I have started playing Ars Magica with Oli and mcphee, which I am thoroughly enjoying. The game is different in pace and style to D&D, and I find that quite refreshing. It’s also more realistic, and I’m finding, a lot more enjoyable because of that. My characters are called Santiago and Jose: two street thugs from Madrid, who were quite happy being such until Santiago developed Elemental power. I am loving it! BLOGGING & T’INTERNET Hmmm… I’ve been a bit of a meme freak this month, and hardly written any original stuff. However, with my big challenge, hopefully that will change next month. Oh, and if you hate the Crazy Frog, this is most satisfying (thanks to Dr Huw for that link). BLOGROLL Good grief! Not only does Alex blog (under the blog name of Picture of Flowers), but he has been doing so far ages! If you hadn’t noticed the amount of memes here recently, you’re a bit thick, and if you had, you can blame Alex! I have added him to my blogroll (a term that I am still finding amusing). Alley Katt Blurty Friends (a number of bloggers that are on blurty) Bowch fishmonger malarky mcphee Microsatellite Picture of Flowers Pixie Prince Gaz Shooting Parrots ANYTHING ELSE INTERESTING? I went to a School Reunion this month! I can’t quite believe it’s been 10 years since I did GCSEs, but it is! It was kinda weird seeing people from school that I’d lost touch with (and kinda cool seeing those who are still good mates), and even weirder introducing them to Rob. I also managed to get myself to Hull this month for another visit to see Alfie and go to Spiders. Had a fantastic time… even if his gay dog did eat my spectacles. THE WHOLE MONTH IN A FEW WORDS Not much achieved… But who cares when you’re having fun?! Have fun, M x Current mood: Current music: Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You by JZ and Linkin Park. |
