'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal I put my cross in the box yesterday... As I’ve said before, I don't talk about politics: what's the point? Everyone formulates their views and protect them vehemently, even if they're blasted out of the water by someone better informed. All it creates is mutual mistrust and contempt. A perfect example if this is the woman I know that I had previously liked, who stood loud and proud and declared that she would be voting BNP. How can I look at her the same way any more when I know that about her, and how can she look at me in the same way now that she knows that I so vehemently oppose her views with such passion? So, after an minor tangent/ rant, I'm not going to say who I voted for, but I am going to say that it was very important to me that I did vote, and made a point of doing so despite the fact that it imposed on my social plans for the evening. I believe that anyone who cares enough to talk politics or even silently care about how their country is run should vote. That is all. Have fun, M x Current mood: Current music: Elected by Alice Cooper. This is scary... I was just talking to a politics lecturer: only 8 out of 20 students in his class actually bothered to vote. I despair. Have fun, M x |
