'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal Here's a delightful selection of 'Thanks Mum and Dad' names for you... Working in the School of Languages, you do tend to see a number of unusual or unpronounceable names from our International students. Once in a while, a poor unfortunate has a name that is completely acceptable and normal in their culture, but when they come over to the UK, it has amusing alternative connotations. I'm sure I've posted some amusing foreign names before, but can't be bothered to root through my blog for the appropriate post... Anyway, the names that have amused me recently are: Olesugun Shittu (Nigeria) Michael Dumpe (Czech Republic) Ming Wang (China) Betta Holm (Norway) And my personal favourite... Rattasak Bumsukring (Thailand) Call my behaviour childish and mean if you like, but believe me, in my job, finding anything remotely stimulating is a rare thing. So su me if one of the small tonics of my horrible job is finding amusement at other people's names. Have fun, M x Current mood: Current music: Sin by NIN. |
