'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

1st October, 2004. 9:37 am. Monthly Review - September

Okay, things are back on track, and the full monthly review is back (who groaned?!)…

WORK
Busy.
Very busy.
Too busy.
Intolerably busy?
Now I’m back in the mood to be my usual candid self, I will write that ‘how’s the new (although it’s not that new any more) job going’ thing asap.

MONEY
Okay, so maybe one thing isn’t back on track. It’s amazing how a society that is so completely in debt can continue to go further in debt, and well, I’m certainly not helping this statistic…

LOVE LIFE
Okay. Those in the know will be aware of me having a rough time of it in this area up until recently. My new relationship started with a very sticky and emotional beginning that I’m not going to talk about.
What I do want to talk about is my relationship with Rob. I am happy. I am truly happy. He is simply wonderful. This is the first relationship I’ve had with a man that I was actually friends with first. And that is fantastic: I already knew that he was a great person with whom I have things in common, and I have fancied him for goodness knows how long. He’s the kind of person that I can spend an hour with and it feels like it’s only been a minute. Just being in his arms makes me feel like the luckiest man in the world. Introducing him to friends is a true pleasure as I know he’s going to charm them and make them adore him just by being him. Just seeing him, or thinking about him makes me smile. This feels right. So very, very right.

NINJA
Hmmmm… slow. I’ve struggled to make classes due to work and other stuff going on. This is a shame as I want to show of my pretty gold ‘I’m 4th Kyu I am’ star on my gi. However, as of next week, we go back to two classes a week, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the swing!

BOOKS
Bit slow here too as I’ve been reading magazines and playing on my mobile whilst on the bus. I finished Are You Dave Gorman? by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace, and enjoyed it. I then moved on to the wonderful, wonderful Sexing The Cherry by Jeanette Winterson which I finished a couple of days ago. Having enjoyed The Passion and Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit by Winterson, I thought it was long overdue that I read another. Her beautiful, almost poetic writing style really captivated me, so I intend to read more of her soon. However, I have just started The Pearl by John Steinbeck as in a similar vein to Winterson, I’ve really enjoyed his stuff in the past.

MUSICA
A rather productive musical month actually! I’ve purchased the 2 Many DJs CD which is fantastic. I’m finding that this sort of CD is what I like buying as you can’t download DJ sets/ talents very well off the web. I also received an extremely cool birthday present off Chris and Angharad: a camp CD case full of copy 16 CDs! Superb! So far I’ve mainly listened to Violent Silences by Rico from that collection, and because it’s so bloody good, I've not tried the rest! More next month on my fab musical present!

FILM
I’ve not quite been using Screenselect to it’s full potential, but that’s because I’ve been busy with other things. However, I have been going to my wonderful Cornerhouse a lot, and am even doing a Japanese cinema course there from next month! Seeing as there are two months worth of reviews, I’ve decided to put them in the make notes section of this post for those who are interested instead of just posting a huge amount of them in the main body of the text.

BLOGGING & T’INTERNET
Six posts in a month is a bit pants really, and I apologise (if anyone is still actually checking my scatily updated blog). However, I bought a new PC, but it is yet to arrive. As posted previously Tetsuo (this being the new PC’s name) is a rather monstrous beast of a PC. I am very much looking forward to getting him! Similar to last month, workload has prevented this usually quite frequent blogger from blogging as often as I would have liked, but this should change now that there is Tetsuo. Sadly, just like last month, nothing interesting t’internet wise has come my way.

BLOGS I READ
Alley Katt
Blurty Friends: Jadash, Ajax and Deiselboi
Bowch
fishmonger malarky
Fluff (currently inactive)
mcphee
Mojo
Pixie
Prince Gaz
Shooting Parrots

ANYTHING ELSE INTERESTING?
I was really, really chuffed and kinda humbled when nearly 40 people turned up for my birthday bash this month. We went to LaserQuest, Pizza Express, FAB Cafe, and Rockworld. I had a fantastic time, and would like to thank everyone who came.
I also went to Chester with my parents, which was lovely. I really like Chester: the two tier shopping thing is just SO cool!
I also managed to catch a speedway match when the Wolves rode against Belle Vue.

THE WHOLE MONTH IN A FEW WORDS
Much, MUCH better! Lalalalalalalalalala!

Have fun,

M
