At last week’s funeral, I noticed a poster on the noticeboard in the church with their ‘price list’. This is what it said:
Church Price List
Baptisms: No Charge
Funerals: £110
Weddings: £180
I had no idea that church facilities were charged for. Of course, contributions keep churches going, but it seems to me that a price list is a little crass. I’m a cynical person, especially when it comes to religion, and this made me shake my head. Seems to me that they’re hankering to indoctrinate you for free, and then charge you for the things you need. How is that in the Christian spirit?
