'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

12th December, 2003. 12:33 pm. Do The Maths

Maths is something I was never particularly good at, but even I can work this one out...

I am skint. I am up to my overdraft and credit card limits, and have £50 for tonights works do. Then I have no money until monday. On Monday, I have to pay for my rent, my electric bill, my car tax, my TV licence bill, my minimum monthly credit card payment, my broadband connection, and my mobile phone bill. On Tuesday I am taking the day off work to get all my Christmas shopping done in one go. This will come to approximately 50 - 60% of my monthly income.

On average, I would say that I spend around 5% of my monthly income for every nights out I go on. I am going out three times next week and will be going out on the Saturday too. The following week I will be going out another three times. Then there is the ultimate expense that it New Years Eve. After these binges, I also need to feed myself over the next month.

Is it me, or does that not add up?
[sigh]
I need to think of something...

Have fun,

M

Current mood: worried.
Current music: Transformers Theme appears to be going through my head ATM.

12th December, 2003. 3:23 pm. Unqueened

We've created a new word in our office today: unqueened...

This is a direct backlash to our OTT PC 'Oh so public sector' boss who bollocked me for using the term 'manning the desk' instead of 'staffing the desk'. Don't get me started on OTT PC crappo: I'll be here all day.

Background: our office consists of three gay men and a fag hag. Earlier today, my colleague mentioned that he couldn't go for a drink and leave the office 'unmanned'. I corrected him (in a take the mick out of our boss way) that he should have said 'unstaffed', to which his responce was "I should have said 'unqueened'."

I laughed, and will overuse this term mercilessly.

Have fun,

M

Current mood: amused.
Current music: It's Raining Men by The Weathergirls.
