'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

19th October, 2003. 5:53 pm. My PC is named...

Boris!

He didn't have a name until all the other bloggers said that theirs did. There is no reason whatsoever why he's called Boris other than I have just decided that he is, because it was the first name that came into my head.

Have fun,

M

Current mood: Impatient (for D&D tonight).
Current music: Going Inside by John Frusciante.

19th October, 2003. 6:54 pm. Sampler Discs

I like free stuff!

Over the last week, I have had two free sampler discs. One is a CD sampler of the new Unkle album - Never, Never Land; the other is a sampler DVD of The Office - Series 2. Both of these items I intended to buy, but I'm always happy with any freebie.

The Office one is actually utterly useless inasmuch as I have purchase the full DVD (http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=BBCDVD1300) already from http://www.dvd.co.uk and am awaiting it's delivery when it's released (the freebie has nothing on it that won't be on that). However, I guess I get to watch episode one before it's released, which is nice ('ve not seen any of the second series at all BTW).

The Unkle one is a bit different. Unkle's album, Psyence Fiction (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000AFK4/026-0511311-2311650), is one of my all time favourite albums. It's innovative blends of breakbeats and chilled stuff complimented by amazing guest appearance from Richard Ashcroft, Ian Brown, Mike D, and Thom York to name but a few is just SO my thing. The follow up, Never Never Land (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000BXGCU/ref=sr_aps_music_1_2/026-0511311-2311650), has been greatly anticipated, despite the departure of the inspirational DJ Shadow (http://www.djshadow.com/). I had every intention of buying the album, and was looking forward to its release. However, the sampler has put me off it: it's nowhere near as good as Psyence Fiction in my opinion, and is maybe slightly above average chill out stuff. To be honest, the 16 minute sample I have is pleasant stuff which I will listen to a bit, but not only does it not make me want to buy the album, it makes me wonder if I need to with the amount of stuff that is on it! Hmmmmm... marketing idea that backfired, or what?!

Have fun,

M

19th October, 2003. 9:54 pm. Things on my wall.

I have lots of them.

In a strange way, I'm proud of what I've managed to do to my flat. I realise it's a poxy little bedsit in the middle of nowhere, but I've at least managed to make it feel homely, and prove that you can actually polish a shit. Basically, I've got a lot of framed things on my wall and a sarong.
