'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

7th September, 2003. 8:07 pm. Belated EuroPride story

So here I am on a Sunday afternoon blogging at the same time as playing mcphee’s online D&D session. Last time he wrote out my character Harold because I was having a delightful time at Manchester’s EuroPride. As such, I’ll be playing a new character today called Goia (an Elf Bard – I’m planning on making him particularly queeny), which promises to be fun (although I did enjoy playing Harold, but that’s phee’s cutthroat DMing for you).

Anyway, I thought I should do the much-promised report on EuroPride… EuroPride was great, but I feel that I’ve procrastinated on doing the report to the point of making it silly to do a proper blog about it. Let’s just say I had a fantastic time and was perhaps a bit naughty in a weekend that included wearing PVC and meshing, a boy scout outfit (with pink neckerchief), a T-Shirt with my phone number on it, foam (well, I got covered in it anyway), and corduroy (okay, I wear corduroy almost every day, but it’s worth mentioning because it’s great). It also involved drinking enough to fill a brewery, spending far too much money, sitting in a park drinking and perving, and pulling outside a chip shop (which wasn’t intentional, it just kinda happened).

One thing I must mention about the weekend was when I dragged some straight friends into the area around the Manchester Gay Village (we couldn’t actually go into the Village as you had to pay £10 to get a wristband to get in). These friends were Pete, Jo, and Beth. There’s a pub just outside the Village called Bar Med, and we kinda made an impression on it… Having had a month’s worth of booze and fun in just one weekend already, nothing could prepare me for Monday’s Bar Med merriment. We went in and bought alcoholic beverages (as one does), and the barmaid managed to flog us silly Bacardi fruit shot things by convincing us that we wanted a daft game to play (the free gift when you bought four). So yes, we bought four and got the free game. The game was basically a particularly cunty version of Truth or Dare. Now the truth bits were a little dull as we all know each other’s deepest darkest disgracefulness. However, the dares were just great! I had to auction Pete off as a sex slave to a table of girls (and much to my evil amusement, I eventually had to sell him to Jo for 5p). Pete managed to convince a random pretty girl that he went to school with her in Weston Super Mare (and both she and her boyfriend were really pleased to see him!). Beth did the twist in the middle of the bar. I organised a limbo competition in the centre of the bar and managed to fall on my arse lots. And the biggest achievement of the day: Beth managed to get the whole pub to do a Mexican Wave! Like a really impressive, everyone did it, Mexican Wave!

Of course, no afternoon of boozing with a stupid game to play is complete without the ritual humiliation of me. The limbo thing was bad, but my most humiliating moment of the day was when my dare was to close my eyes and use touch only to identify a friend. ‘Easy’ I thought: Pete is a boy, Beth is a girl, and Jo is a girl with very big boobs. As such, I closed my eyes and went for the chest. But it wasn’t Pete, Jo, or Beth: they’d been particularly cunty, and got the barmaid to stand in and *honk honk*, I grabbed a handful of her boobs. Oops! I screeched upon opening my eyes, but she was a good sport (thank fuck!). Gits.

Have fun,

M

7th September, 2003. 9:12 pm. More on The Five That You Would

I appear to have caused a stir with the post ‘The Five That You Would’. Gaz and phee copped out and said ‘Ew’ and ‘I can’t think of any’ respectively. Meanwhile, Pixie has decided to abstain, and both Fluff and Bowch actually named some that they would! Big up to those two and a tongue out to the others! [grin] And BTW Bowch and Fluff: nice choices – I would too!

These are the bloggers that I’ve been talking about…

While I talk about the five that you would thing, (and for the simple reason that I can) I’m gonna put pretty pictures of the (two sets of the) five that I would here (just because I can, and because the other bloggers did clever linky things which I can’t do and was jealous of).

5) Hayden Christiansen
