'My Corduroyed Life' - Mark A's Journal

28th August, 2003. 12:26 pm. My very own car parking space!!!

They say it's the little things that make us happy. I could make a crude, self-deprecating gag on that sentence, but I won't. But yeah, something that has recently made me far too happy for what it is is my very own car parking space. Basically, I've lived at my current flat (within a huge converted Victorian flat) for two years, and the drive has always been taken up by another guy's car. That guy recently moved out, and I have nicked the space, and now have my very own parking spot on the drive now! Yay! Every day for the last week as I've set off to work, I've grinned when I've seen Doris on the drive. How crap am I?

In my defence (although this is pretty lame), the street I live on does have a parking problem and I have had to park miles away from my flat. Even so, it certainly doesn't warrant my current level of glee...

I feel Doris deserves her own space is she is a respectable elderly lady.

Let me explain to those who don't know: Doris is the name of my car. She's a C Reg Vaxhall Nova Galaxy... and she's GREAT! Over the last five years, that old lady has been an absolute gem and has been so damned useful (how I got my hands on her is a long, boring story I can't be bothered to tell). When I was pretending to be straight, I used to crack that she was the only woman that never left me. These days, she my fag hag.

Yay! My own parking space!

Have fun,

M
