When you see a movie so many times, you pick up the dialogue. Pretty soon, you can repeat it by heart. Such is the case with Magnum Force. I can follow along with just tiny visual clues, often repeating lines as the actors say them. So, today, I was searching through the television listings for David Soul and found it playing...on the Spanish Channel. Mangnum Force (called Magnum 44) dubbed in Spanish. Yeah, that's what I've been watching for the past two hours. That's a good way to pick up random words in other languages. The voices aren't quite up to par. The guy doing Hal Holbrook's character can't say Harry's name with the same force. You gotta get in deep "Calla-HAN." It's hilarious because you have Spanish, Spanish, Spanish, English name, Spanish, Spanish, Spanish. No matter what language you watch it in, though, John Davis is still the leader of the vigilante cops and he's still very very hot. I keep trying to pretend that he didn't really die. He's floating, sure, but can't we just say he was faking? Because, really, we need a Magnum Force/SH crossover. We need that very much. I'm not saying that we definitely have to keep John Davis alive. I'm just saying that maybe Harry Callahan could show up in Bay City and maybe he could notice the resemblance between Davis and Hutch.
The over-arching theme to take away from all of this? David Soul, pretty in all languages.
