Subject:Television Will Rot Your Brain

Daytime television is a wasteland of talk shows, soap operas, and Law and Order repeats. I figured, since it's Labor Day, there might be some sort of specials on that I would enjoy. Ummm, no. Plan B, let me catch up on the two soap operas I sorta watch. Days of Our Lives I cannot even begin to understand where they've gone with that show. OK, everybody that was dead isn't dead, but Roman died again, so he's really dead this time? And Chloe...dead? Is Jack still alive because I really wanted him to be around for the birth of their son, but instead I get Jen bleeding out all over the beach, Patrick not really doing much, and Hope continually trying to stop the bleeding by NOT TOUCHING HER. Giving up on that one, I switch over to All My Children...which is showing a repeat! Since when does soaps show reapeats? That makes no sense unless it's Christmas or something.

So, I gave up and read disability SH stories all day. I should say, I re-read them since I've read them all before and often return to them because I love the plots. Between Alone and Crab Sandwiches, though, I have to say that it was a good reading day.

I started to do real work at 4PM, mopping the floors, washing dishes, making supper (barbequed chicken and mashed potatoes). Three day weekend and I get the desire to work at 4PM on a Monday. Yeah, that's perfect:)

Tonight, in my quest to eventually watch nothing but BBC America, I flipped through and caught another five minutes of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). I've watched five minutes of that show at least six or seven times and I still didn't get it. Going to the BBC America website convinced me that I should give it another try though because Tom Baker supposedly plays in it (though I haven't seen him yet). Tom Baker AKA My Dr. Who AKA That guy with the scarf.

Dr. Who is like James Bond I think, we all have "Our" Dr. Who just like we have "Our" James Bond. My James Bond is Timothy Dalton. He's the one I saw growing up and he'll always be associated with James Bond in my mind. My Dr. Who is Tom Baker. He's the one that was playing on PBS as I grew up, so that's who I'll always associate the Doctor with in my mind. I can trace them, though.

THE DOCTORS
William Hartnell (11/23/63 - 10/29/66)--Never saw any of his eps

Patrick Troughton (11/5/66-6/21/69)--I sorta remember seeing one or two eps of his

Jon Pertwee (1/3/70 - 6/8/74)--Remeber him. He was the white-haired doctor that I thought had an aristocratic air to him. He was cool, though.

Tom Baker (12/28/74-3/21/81)--Obviously PBS was running the eps after his run:) He was so fun and a little weird. Who else could pull off the line: "Now drop your weapons, or I'll kill him with his deadly jelly-baby!"

Peter Davison (1/4/82-3/16/83)--I watched his eps, but was sad that the old doctor wasn't around anymore.

Colin Baker (1/5/84-12/6/86)--You can't be Tom Baker!

Sylvester McCoy (7/9/87-12/6/89)--I was vaguely aware of him, but my over-arching feeling was he was WAY too creepy.

Paul McGann (1996 Doctor Who: The Movie)--I watched this, I loved it. He was a really cool Doctor.

So, anyone who's seen Tom Baker in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)....worth it or not? He'd be the only reason I'd try to watch it, so if he's like a secondary, we only see him on Tuesdays for five seconds, kinda character I don't want to watch:)
