She was there beside me on the bed, laying there, eyes closed.
How I hoped but a single dream was woven through there;
in between the hellos and good byes, in between the lines her body made.
I hope patiently for her pulse.
A single dream of me hidden behind the steady one two three beat
And how could I ask to be?
Like asking her to come closer, or fold the socks
It was just something we didn't do.
But dreams need sleep to fall
and she didn't sleep
and she didn't dream of me.
and in that moment although she'll never see, eyes closed
she achieved complete perfection in my eyes.
