Teh Urk Folder: Revisited [29 Oct 2003|08:06pm]
My 'urk' folder revisited. If there's anything you'd like to yell about, feel free.

1. A note from Cat with book recommendations (Poppy Z. Brite) which I can delete now that I have it duly noted here. I need to hit the library tomorrow anyway.
Any other book recommendations, please let me know!

2. Header info for Cat's ML's. Why couldn't I find it when I was LOOKING for it?!

3. Something personal, moved to 'Significants' folder.

4. Note from Miricle Shining. Must. Deal With. Someday.

5. Challenge from Akima that has been written. Am e-mailing Akima to mention this fact and will delete.

6. Beta-job from CW. Keeping for grammatical/mechanical info.

7. See above.

8. I still need to take Tourmalye up on her offer to beta.

9. More CW stuff.

10. A challenge from CW. Still not finished.

That's all for now.

Rants [26 Oct 2003|10:51am]
[ mood | cranky ]
[ music | Fluffer ]

1. Damnit M. Group-owner... please refrain from putting (disturbing) NC-17 pics as the group's main pic. I am not logged in as being over 18. I could be eleven for all you know (thankfully I'm 22). And all I had to do was search for one of my fave TV shows and click a link. *grumbles* Some things I don't want to see first thing in the morning, especially when it's likely my parents will walk behind me (or I'm in a computer lab. wtf?!).

2. Dear Furry Fandoms, you have me very, very frustrated. You're either too elitist to pay any attention to me or you're too stupid to understand the words I'm stringing into sentences. Honestly, you people/furries need to learn to share your goods, if you have any. I would like maybe one of two good fic recommendations, yet after asking a combined 800 people what makes their fandom so cool fic-wise, I have gotten zero responses. I want to write smut for you people, but would like to read some first. *seethe*

3. Dear people who post fics to ML Files as .doc files, you have eliminated almost all chance I will be able to read them. I am in the small part of the populace that does not have MSWord. Do not tell me to go get it either, as I have no way of installing it. My CD-rom drive is dead.

That's all. New stuff on my site...

The Update [22 Oct 2003|04:19pm]
[ mood | awake ]
[ music | Arsyn ]

Work: Makes me happy. Really. I'm having a complete and utter blast so far. I was going to apply at Chain Restaurant today but... didn't. I get the odd feeling that even if I got in there, I'd hate it. It's not worth if for the extra money I don't really need anyway.

Feh. I don't want to be a waitress forever anyway. I want a job, in my field, to put my degree to good use. And, believe it or not, I want to be happy with whatever job I'm doing, even if the pay isn't wonderful.

Mom mentioned throwing me out and then quickly recanted and said that it wouldn't be anytime soon. That means it will be - maybe after the holidays? I guess it's time to look for my job up north. I'm not worried. There's no sense in worrying.

I do have a ton of things on my mind though.

I want to finish Trysten's fic today. And I need to write my news article, too.

Sprink & I are shopping tomorrow - not sure when, as I will be dead on my feet. I want Thai or possibly Thai.

I like my job. Yay!

It's all about feeling better about myself, even if all I did was pass by a bag of chips and devote three minutes to the exercise bike. For me, that's something.

Y!Groups... [21 Oct 2003|02:32pm]
... going thru and removing myself from a bunch of the dead groups I'm on/fandoms I'm not huge into anymore.

I'm on so many good lists still though.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rikus_hips/ - Dedicated to Riku's Hips and Riku himself. I'm partially responsable for this one...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chaoslegion_yaoi/ - The one & only Chaos Legion yaoi list... slow, but quality.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yaoi_materia/ - FFVII yaoi. All pairings. New & cool.

more later... so sleepy...

Dear Idiot,

Don't bother applying to join Yaoi_Materia when your Y!Profile says you're a minor. Duh. Did you not read the group description?

And I'm *sure* there are minors on the list. If they ever tell me they're minors, they're out of there. However, their profiles did not announce they were 14 and liked to make people's lives a living hell (that alone would have made me adding you an iffy thing, Hi, Troll?). The general 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy applies on YM - don't ask anyone's age, don't tell yours.

Therefore, you will sit in the queue until I bother writing a nice note about why you were denied entry into the realm of me.

A good laugh before my first day of work though.

-Kalloway

The real entry:

Low energy, to a degree. Spend a chunk of the day ignoring life and sorting my plotbunny cards. Helped Sprink with Sprink Notes. Watched the Lions suck.

"So... How about those Lions?"

Slept. Woke. Ate. Will work soon. Yay!

That's about it. I want to finish Trysten's fic tonight (have I mentioned 'If it Kills Me'?). And that's about it. I need to bring my clothes in so they're warm and then shower at some point. Whose idea was this again?!

I need First Day luck!!

Jameson [19 Oct 2003|01:05am]
[ mood | amused ]
[ music | Penny Dreadfuls ]

No, not my PSO FOmar, despite his general looks and class vaguely being based on the real thing.

Jameson appeared in DM after I got reacquanted with my love of all that is StarFox. Nnn. Fox furry. As much as most furry fandom creeps me the fuck out, I like Fox and I generally don't mind the fandom. I don't look at fics/art for it though anymore, as most of it squicks me seven ways to Sunday. IF ANYONE HAS GOOD FURRY FICS, TELL ME WHERE!!!

Jameson... back on topic... rips off Fox quite a bit as far as physical appearance. Er, it's not as though there are an amazing amount of different ways to anthro a fox anyway, are there?

Jameson generally stays in furry form (called Animan/Animen in DM) when alone in his chambers. He likes it and secretly likes both the negative reactions he gets and when people accept or even love his furry form. While Animen used to be much more prevalent on Agassia, their numbers have dwindled to one main settlement over the centuries. Jameson is much older and remembers a time when his kind weren't so ostracized. Still, he has no interest in seeking out his own kind. For reasons unknown, he happily spends his time at Daria's Temple.

Jameson is immortal, though he will not answer questions as to why he asked for said gift. There is a rumor that says he was once sold as a slave to Dayn, though there's most likely little truth to it. Whatever the reason, Jameson is at least 1800 years old, according to Daria's records. However it's more likely he's been with her that long and is older.

Jameson has a Spectir guide, though in his current occupation and mindset, the Spectir appears just once every few decades to check in. No one knows where it goes the rest of the time.

Jameson teaches the priestesses and warriors at the Temple some basic magic that they'll need to complete different tasks. Though he's generally hated, he's not a cruel teacher nor is he quick to chastise.

For feasts and gatherings, Jameson adopts a human form that generally gets glares of jealousy from even Daria herself. Still, he claims it is just the easiest transformation possible and is just a quick human-ization of his body.

He's reluctant to take a lover and always passes on the ritual orgies at the Temple. However he will occasionally accept propositions from the handful of male Temple residents during non-ceremonial seasons.

His bondage to Daria is never clearly explained, though some believe they may actually be related somehow, or that he somehow crossed Dayn and stays with Dayn's nemesis (and twin sister) Daria for protection.

Jameson is once mentioned as having an old army uniform, meaning he was a soldier or officer at one point.

He has a stern disposition and can come off as cold and uncaring when all he really wants is the best for someone.

Perhaps when Jameson finds love, he will cling to it desperately.

Every Day Shine [19 Oct 2003|12:50am]
[ mood | accomplished ]
[ music | Shelley Miller ]

We're good. Very good. I think. I can somehow feel things getting better.

Nnn.

Let's talk yaoi. I mean, why not? Let's ramble about fiction and action and nothing that has any bearing on the real world because I've had enough of that.

WiP's.... just so you know...

* Wishes With Wings 2 - the next part of BBE. WWW will be long, I think, as there will be a very plot-like thing occuring. And no Pretty to botch/save the day. We'll get there.

* 'Sunday Morning, 8AM' - a working title. It's the FFVIII twins fic some of you have heard about. It'll be about 5-6 parts, maybe? Maybe more.

* 'Punchline' - a Sephiroth/Cloud pwp 1000th Hit Fic for the Cafe. I just need to finish this, huh?

* 'Shumi' - An in-game bit of Squall/Zell-ness.

* 'Pet' - A Sephiroth/Cloud/Squall fic, darker, and more downright odd.

* 'Fuhq1' - for a ML. Wacky wacky.

* Good Things - A Cloud & ?? fic, as I haven't decided yet. Songfic. Angsty. Some of it is in the blog somewhere and I'm not much past that spot.

* 'Smut 1' - part of the KH Canon arc, an idea Cat gave me... odd pairing, odd take on Leon, as well.

* Trysten's Fic - had better not be a WiP after tonight.

* Forget Regret 3 - lives in my mind, not as words. But besides BBE, what else do I have running?

* A Vinnie Birthday Fic which is becoming so much more. It's on a disc right now, across the room.

And the plotbunnies never cease.

I want to write a fic called "Three Days" so badly. Wah!

Cassandra... the Mary Sue

Between cleaning and cleaning before Family arrives, I've been reading through some of the old notebooks of DM. Cassandra is such a Mary Sue at times. And she behaves without boudaries I'm rather sure a seventeen-year-old stuck in another dimension would adopt quickly.

By the time she's matured to the third book (no, the second one does not exist and the first one was never finished, I just liked the plot of the third one so I worked on it), she's better, but still bad. For some reason her powers aren't what they should be and now she's without her beloved husband to guide her useless self. Instead she has a motley gang of women who are headed to the Northland to find the stairway to the Sky or something contrived like that.

I like DM:A so much better.

Basically, DM happened eighteen years previous to DM:A and in a very abridged form. It also uses the one theory for Cassandra meeting Ethan's father (to those who know who it is - *heart*) that I kinda came up with while staring at the painting my future in-laws have above their couch. Just pretend it makes sense.

So for a few months when Cassandra is 16/17, she ends up in Agassia and taken in by the Four Sourceresses (Locca, Erutana, Kayla & Tiana for those of you keeping score) and meeting their current student who, well, becomes Ethan's father!). Bam! Canon!

And while she'll have a smaller role in DM:A, she'll still be an important character. After all, she's still Cassandra, Sarah's Granddaughter. And as for Sarah, she's not exactly a minor character either. Just because the focus is on Ethan...

Nnn... Ethan.

To be a Spectir... [07 Oct 2003|11:19pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]
[ music | Lucy Webster ]

Planning... don't steal.

The third child of Lady Razrantha is Ammeia (or Amma), the goddess of Truth, Light, and Clarity. Wisdom, if you'd have it, and staying on the path of goodness without straying to evil. She's a virgin goddess, at least in name and has never taken mate nor bore child.

She's the first child of Lady Raz that doesn't have black hair. At first it was thought that since Amma was a child of Lady Raz alone, that perhaps her coloring was natural to an unnatural creation. She has dirty blonde hair, and generally appears to be rather plan in contrast to the over-the-top looks of the twins Dayn and Daria. Her wardrobe rarely strays from pale dresses covered by a grey or brown cloak. She walks the world as often as she resides in her temple, instead valuing the chance to wander amongst those she can learn from. She is not omniscent, however if she is asked a question or a concern, she can find an answer.

Her temple is near the city of Koura (Kurra) in the Northland. It's near the Ocean and greets the rising Western sun each day with ceremony. Amma keeps only ten priestesses or priests and they are asked to serve only five years then go in peace.

Any traveller not true enough to find the temple cannot, and will wander forever unless their quest is righteous. Amma is picky on who she grants her wisdom to, however upon repentence, she will assist even the lost.

Amma's servants are those called Spectirs. They are not human, but the are not in-human either. They are created from the mist that sometimes encases the point the temple sits on, before the morning sun burns the mist away.

A Spectir is sent to guide powerful citizens, to help them resist urges towards evil. They are counsellors and confidants to those they serve. When a Spectir's master or mistress dies, they can choose to either 'die' as well or take another master. Those who chose to take another master are sent to a room of the temple to 'sleep' in a trance-like state until they are needed.

Spectirs are capable of all human functions such as eating, sleeping, etc. though they technically are unnecessary. Master/Spectir relationships are not uncommon, though Spectirs are incapable of assisting in reproduction.

While Spectirs may guide, they are not permitted to stand in the way of their masters' decisions. When a master strays from the path of good, their rights to have a Spectir guide are revoked and the Spectir then has a chance to sleep and try again.

Also, if Spectirs are not 'needed' for an amount of time, they're welcome to stay at the temple, awake, as long as they desire. This is rare though and only happend when a Spectir belongs with an immortal master who has established a set pattern that is not deviated from (such as a teacher, elder, or healer).

When a master calls, a Spectir, no matter where they are, must come.

The only other tell-tale sign of a Spectir is their ability to come and go from the shadows to any other shadow they please or to the center of Amma's temple. All wear dark cloaks so if need be, they can create their own shadow to vanish into. They are magic-users, though their bank of spells is severely limited. Mainly all they're capable of are nothing more than party tricks such as flashes of light (to create shadow) or something akin to holograms.

Examples of those who would be sent a Spectir guide include Kings/Queens, powerful magic-users, regional lords and ladies who have control of land and citizens, etc.

Guilt, but only a little [06 Oct 2003|02:44pm]
So... I'm over at Don's counting some of the die-cast cars in the basement (this is a longer story than you'd care to read, just pretend it's normal, it is for me) and I hear a knock at the door.

I'm unsure about answering, as Don is off having his surgery today so hopefully he can work again. Or one of his surgeries, at least. However, as this is not a scary neighborhood and I figure it is most likely Chris, the police officer who lives next door and borrowed tools yesterday.

However, instead, it is a woman with a Bible, prattling on about religion. I told her I was house-sitting (which is close enough. Don is one of my Dad's close friends and I spend a ridiculous amount of time here anyway - it's just the next road) and that she should have a nice day before I closed the door.

I now feel guilty, not really guilty, but guilty. You know, I've been looking for signs from God lately and if I totally just closed the door on one, I hope I won't get on God's bad side. It is, however, a good reminder to finish reading the chunk of Bible that Sigother mentioned the other day, to see if I can make sense of it.

That's all, apologies if this has in any way offended anyone - hopefully anyone who's stumbled across this blog is open-minded enough to deal with my ramblings and insecurities.

So I finally called Store back and basically was told that no, they don't want me or they would have called. I figured as much really, since, um, they didn't call. Sprink explained this all a bit better to me when she told me how miserable Store was when she worked there. *sighs*

So... Store-I-Don't-Like looks like my next possible seasonal-employer. Guess I'll have to go out today and do more applications and whatnot.

*grumbles*

I guess I'll have to look for a waitress job after all.
