Subject:February Blitz
Time:3:07 pm.
A busy busy time! February was mostly about working to save up for the next semester (and the semester after that … and possibly Japan in July … or December …) and one week I managed to work 48 hours!!! The payoff was worth it as I didn’t really have anything better to do with my time anyways and I can eat like a pig for at least another week or more hehehe! Also managed to squish a lot of Final Fantasy X playtime in which I was trying to finish before uni started but unfortunately, uni started on Monday and I am nowhere near completing it. I’m guessing a minimum of 10 hours left … yeech …

However, I DID manage to catch the soccer and go to Tropfest (which we DIDN’T make into the finalists if you hadn’t heard, although we DID make it the Best of Rest Screenings which will be on in your major cities during this week! Details are here) AND seamlessly move from 6am data-entry droning to 6pm starts at the commencement of uni. *sigh* I will have no life for the next 6 months but IT’S ALL ABOUT PRIORITIES … or so I keep hearing. Anyway, photo-essay time!

Some random Indian dinner out with the Animation Club kids. From the right: Juan, Moonsun (Korea), Sarah, Michael, Gavin (Ireland), Aarthi (India), Jayt, Sam, Amy (Dubai) and Hung. Around $6-7 for each dish and everything was not in English so we just ordered one of everything.
Still pigging out … a better shot of (this time from the left) Hung, Amy, Sam, Jayt, Aarthi and Gavin.Melbourne vs. Adelaide semi-final. I went for want of a better pastime and it was only $15 cos I’m the proud bearer of a student card (yeah!).
The game …View of the Telstra Dome (we were sitting pretty far up but still had a very decent view!)
Picnicing at Tropfest at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Pretty cool outdoor venue …UNLESS you get poured upon which we did … consistently … and because it was a 40 degree day prior I had left the house in short shorts and a strapless top so I ended up wet, then cold, then sticky when the temperature rose again, then wet again, then cold when the sun went down and the wind kicked up. ALL THIS AND WE DIDN’T EVEN MAKE THE FINALS!!! (I liked the winner although I think the third prize guy should have won. Go the Von!!!)
A very tardy end-of-year party for work at the Hard Rock. Food was crap but the wine was free!!! And yes, the bulk of the workers are asian girls cos we rock at mindless repetitive work!Getting drunker by the second … I don’t even know who the bald guy is …
After the bar tab ran out, I went for a wander and found this little guy in Tattersall’s lane. Gotta LOVE the Melbourne laneways! :-DView from South Bank at night … awwww …
My living room!!! I wish … I almost fainted from joy at the sight of all the new Macs (well their boxes anyways) on the first day of uni!My desk! Yes MY DESK and lightbox. MINE MINE MINE!!! For the rest of the year!!! As you can see, I have marked my territory with what else but food! (Note the GIANT jar of Marmite hehe!)

Subject:Extra Open Goodness
Time:7:09 pm.
Just some more photos from the weekend ... Bo's wonderful sign and me giving extra support. The power of Bo's 12x zoom! Yes, we were there to WATCH THE TENNIS lol
Break time lolAfter his win.
A better shot of the fab four. What is Melbourne about if not cafes? Me elegantly chowing down on French Toast, maple syprup and bacon before the match in Degraves St.
Another Koko Black moment. At the end of the weekend, I was feeling rather fat! This photo was taken after a meal on Hardware Lane. I had STEAK oh yeah ... meat ... mmm ... and a chocolate pudding. Plus I scavanged the boys' entrees which were prawns and some baked mushroom thing. It was more quantity than quality really but it was still an alright meal.

Subject:A Big January Blur
Time:4:36 pm.
I've been a terrible blogger. And my excuses range from being incredibly bogged down by uni work during November and hence I was not very interesting at all, then super busy during the holiday period and then even busier during the first month of the new year! Go figure. So a much needed update ... with pictures!
First things first, Garry (second from the left) won $110 on the Melbourne Cup which we proceeded to drink away on our personal little balcony at Cookie on Swanston.
For those who keep insisting that I am NOT at uni, here is my stunning High-Distinction worthy business proposal for Multimedia Business Studies (fun times had by all indeed) ...
... and because I'm a big fat geek, here is my giant research paper entitled "THE EBBS AND FLOWS OF MAINSTREAM ANIMATION: Tracing the Development of Mainstream Animation and Its Movement from Mass Entertainment to Saturday Morning Cartoons and Back Again" which is 39-pages full of rich, gooey research goodness. From 12,000 words down to 10,000 down to 9,869 ... oh to NEVER write an essay again!
The week after I finished uni, I landed myself a data-entry job ... which somehow translates into a 6am-12pm morning shift until uni starts again. February 26th can't come fast enough! I thought my body would get used to the early starts but nope, I'm still as tired as ever, I'm DEFINITELY a night person. Ah well, thankfully, in my second week of work, they moved from South Docklands to Lt Collins St which shortened the 25 minute walk down to 8 hehe. So this is the view from Southern Cross Station footbridge (it will ALWAYS be Spencer St station to ME! *sigh*) if you've ever wondered what it might look like at 5:30 in the morning. For something new this year, my parents decided to have Xmas lunch out of the house, at the Grace Hotel to be exact. Go the classy buffet! A far cry from Sizzler I can tell you! We even got bonbons and alcohol was included which my Dad seemed to particularly enjoy as evidenced by his headgear ...
Next up on the must-do list for Melbourne was the Oz Open. As you can see, the weather was perfectly Melbournian but we managed to get through these massive queues rather quickly and camp out at the Vodafone Arena for Nalbandian vs. Grosjean (I was very tempted to shout "GROSS JEEN!!! GO GROSS JEEN!!!" several times but alas, I was sober)Yes, that's me. And, yes, that's a tennis court.
Old skool uni crew: (from back) Ian, Kat, Matt and a very large looking me. It appears a NON-viscommer took this photo seeing as I'm covering Matt and the others rather superbly with my triple chins. Thanks.Juan Camilo (from Colombia) from New skool uni crew ... Michael was lazy and late and ended up sitting in the rain (as did Bo) waiting for Tommy Haas (for very different reasons I assume) to play on Margaret court. Alas, no matches on the outside courts all Satuday, 20th Jan! Kudos to Bo for sitting there for 6 hours. THAT's dedication!
Another random court shot. Even though we were 3 rows from the back, it was a pretty good view. If I had glasses. I really need to see an optometrist this week ... I tried on Matt's glasses and it was like a whole new world!!!I wonder who Bo is gunning for? This was the Sunday because Ian and I scammed extra tics using the rained out excuse (Bo legitimately earned hers!). He won! She had a 12x zoom! Germans are hot!
In other news, after I came back from Xmas, the Animation Club, a mish-mash of students in my course, worked on a film for Tropfest and while pre-production was finished before everyone left Melbourne for Xmas (does noone actually COME from here?) the bulk of production and post-production was completed in 4-5 manic days!!! This is a screengrab from my scene ...... and other characters I created for another scene. I won't say anthing about the film for now, I'll upload it or post a link to the finished film at some stage if someone else uploads it first! WE'RE IN THE TOP 60 out of about 800 films so YAY US!!! Have to wait 'til Feb 10th to see if we are in the top 16 finalists or not. If we are, there will be yet another road trip to Sydney for me!!!! Weeeeeee!!!!

Subject:Derby Day!
Time:4:58 pm.

Sunburn, champers and a lot of T&A, I'm guessing I was at Derby Day but I can't remember much about the horses ... okay, I'm a little hungover so here is a comic strip of what went down yesterday. No I didn't win any money, and yes I paid $7.50 for a tray of fries but gee, it really is fun dressing up like a girl! I even had a stupid fake flower in my hair and let me tell you, DJ's on the Friday evening before Spring Carnival? Just don't even go there ... think post-xmas sales fueled by an extra level of urgency to win the Myer Fashion Awards and half a tonne of flying feathers ... makes for a pretty colourful scene however ...
Getting there is half the fun? The scene outside Flinders Street Station ...
... buying tickets (note the poor guy in the white t-shirt on the right: "Wtf? I just wanted to go to work today!" ...
... waiting for the trains ...
... and getting off the trains ...
... and through the crowd at Flemington station ...
... and so after all that nightmarish public transport, a few refreshments are to be enjoyed in the sun ...
... and of course, carnage occurs quite early in the day (this is not one of our crew, just a random I wanted to capture for posterity).
Random table shot ...
... and another (Annabelle is second from the left and knows Ryan and Larissa who are my connections to this little soiree).
Don't want to spend $1000 on a suit? No worries, mate, bogan-chic is SO the new black don't you know dahling?
Being pretty (and trashed ... and burnt) with Larissa
Pretty in pink with Ryan.
I did make it onto the track at some stage (apparently) ...
... and I guess some horses were racing or something ...
... although this one looks ready to throw in the towel.
Fighting our way onto the trains proved difficult as they closed the gates to the platform after the last race. Now THAT's great event planning for ya.
We did eventually make it onto the train and back to town but not before being smeared by other people's fake tans and poked in the eye by ridiculously flamboyant fascinators. Vive le Derby Day!! (I'll be back! Fabulous darling!)

Subject:To Melbourne (with flowers)
Time:5:31 pm.
Sorry, been a while. Nothing much doing, nothing much saying. Just been cozying up with my 7000wds and my business proposal. Mmmm business proposal (?!?!?!) Four more weeks and ... I guess I need to get a job!

Hung with Shehana for the weekend and caused havoc and terrorised random men! But as always, leaving time aside for Idol proved fruitful (is NOONE going to mention the paint job on Bobby?)

Spring is here!!!
Because its Melbourne, its the Fringe and we're students ...
... we had dumplings in the alley (below mediocre ... nothing on Chinese Noodle House in Sydney!)
whilst projecting random animated work on the walls
(but me being lazy haven't made anything as of yet)
Unsurpisingly, the sexxx segment got the best public reception (not in the photo, this is a family blog!)
The spoils of Koko Black ... mmm iced mocha ...
