: a howl from the desert
A Sonnet to a Quivering Bush
Walt Abbott – 6/29/03
We should not let the terrorists win
By default and out of fear
But we are letting them beat us when
We're afraid of freedom here
The land of the brave – home of the free
Has been hijacked by the frightened few
Where the hope of the world used to be
We are now led by a wrecking crew
Our civil rights are taken away
And there are few willing to resist
We need more people who will not say,
"O K George, if you want to insist"
There once was a George that we threw out
We can toss another one, no doubt
From Poets Against The War
