Pete Bluetrich emailed me not too long ago, and he said that Courtney and I are in Turner 115, which has airconditioning. I'm not sure if I like the airconditioning thing (I don't know if we'll be able to open our windows well), but I DO like the fact that we're not on the fourth floor anymore... !!!

So, Courtney and I went and registered for housing the other day, and on Friday night we have to register for classes. All around, there's signs that this year is ending. It seems like a lot of organizations are trying to put on great activities to end the year, and a lot of people (mainly seniors...) are running around, trying to finish their big projects. Kind of exciting, if you ask me. Until we have to take finals. bleh.
Anyways, there's really not a lot of exciting things happening in my life right now. Today I have to go take a tour of the campus for Student Ambassadors (I have to take another one on Friday, too), and then on Tuesday I have to give a tour. So, we'll see how that goes.
I'm also thinking about going to a Wal*Mart documentary tonight (The High Cost of Low Prices), which will probably make me dislike Wal*Mart even more, but I'll continue to shop there, since it's the closest (and cheapest) place to campus...
Oh! And my economics class got canceled today. Which means that I don't have class until 4, and that's only choir... so, a good day for Corrie!

Well, spring break is over, and I was pretty ready to get back to school life, so it hasn't been too bad so far. Last night was the choir concert, which didn't go over so well. I mean, we sang fine, but there were almost more people performing than in the audience. I think the audience had us beat by 3 people...
I woke up this morning to snow. And tons of it. The snow crew hadn't been through to clear all the paths when I went to econ, so I had to walk through some pretty deep stuff. Got to class, waiting with about 12 people for 15 minutes, then left when the professor didn't show up. So I gave myself the hour off, got breakfast, and am now playing on the computer in my pajamas. I think it's going to be a good day :)

I'm coming home this wekend, which is kind of exciting. But I don't think I'm actually going to be home that much. I told my manager that I was avaliable for work all weekend, so he scheduled me for pretty much all weekend. 5-11 on Friday night, 11-8 Saturday night, and 11-5 Sunday morning. It'll be nice to get the check when that comes, though. :)
Classes are still going fine. I gave a speech yesterday, and I feel really good about it. I wasn't nervous (well, wasn't TOO nervous), and even had a little bit of fun giving it. We had to do a demonstration speech, so I explained to the class the security at most airports, and how to get from your car to your plane without getting tackled by a security guard. More or less. After class, Alex (who taught us how to play Monopoly) told me that "the airport was a cute idea. I should have thought of that." And now I shouldn't have to give another speech for a month or so :)
My sociology teacher wrote me an email the other day, which was kind of cool. She takes attendance by giving us half-sheets of paper where we write our name and date. She has random questions on them which we can answer if we want (she likes being able to get to know us better, so they're often "what are you planning to do this weekend?" "What are you worried about right now?" etc), and then room for us to write any comments/questions that we might have. On Monday she asked us for our favorite movies, and I said that one of them was Life as a House. I wrote in the comment space a thank you for emailing me earlier about classes that might help me with to become a therapist (which I had asked her previously). She emailed me back and said that I was welcome, sociology is often very helpful to psych majors, etc... and that one of her favorite movies is Life as a House, too. I think this is what I really like about this school... the closeness of students and professors, and the oen communication that is often present.
Midterms are coming up, but I only have two "official" midterms. One in Economics, and one in speech. I have a test that week in biology, but it's just a normal chapter test (well, technically 3 chapters, but anyways). I'm not too worried about them yet. I have to take my speech test early, though, because the choir is leaving Friday at 10, and my speech class is at 9... I didn't want to risk having times overlap or anything, so my speech teacher said she'd be more than willing to stay late so that I could take it after class on Wednesday. She drives from Springfield and only has this class to teach. So it was really nice of her to stay later to let me do this, I thought.
So, the choir trip is coming up. We're finally starting to get information on it, too, which is exciting. We're going to have a free day during it, which we can use as a day to the beach or a day to Busch Gardens. I think I'm choosing the latter... They're getting us in on a discount (we only have to pay 15 dollars) which sounds like a good deal to me! I'm still not overly excited about the trip itself (I'd rather spend my spring break at home sleeping and with my Glenwood friends), but I'm ok with it. Since it's only going to be this year.
Anyways, I'm going to get going. I have a bio lab to do for tomorrow, and a quiz to study for, some Bible and sociology reading to do, but no speech homework!!!

It's always pretty exciting when a class gets let out early. My speech teacher wasn't feeling well, so she let us out of class about 25 minutes early. Definitely makes my Friday a lot better!!
Wow. It's Friday. I didn't really realize it until now. That's exciting, too.
There was a campus-wide email sent out today about becoming a student ambassador. I think I'm going to fill out an application and see if I can get a job doing that. That might be something I should do this weekend...
Sorry that this is going to be so short, but my economics calls to me...

"Child labor laws, for example, prohibit small children from working, no matter how much they or their parents yearn to contribute to total output. Yet we could produce more output this year if we put all those little bodies to work. In fact, we could produce a little more output this year if you were to put down this book and get a job."
I don't know what my economics book is implying... children should be working, and I should be helping GDP by not studying economics!?!?!?! Cool.

I hadn't realized how long it had been since I updated until I checked my journal a few minutes ago. But there honestly hasn't been a lot of exciting things happening right now. The literary societies (sororities and fraternities) have been doing their pledging, so I've been kept up late a couple nights because of the silly things they have to do (such as singing outside loudly outside the dorms). I think they finished that this weekend, though, so all of that should be done with.
Sunday night, Courtney and I were lured downstairs by our RA to an all-hall social with the promises of free food and popsicles. When we got downstairs, we got stuck in an hour-long talk about sex and healthy relationships. When we got back to our room, we decided that the popsicles weren't really worth it.
My mailbox has been pretty screwed up lately. I have the new box, and that's fine, but I'm not getting any campus-wide mail. I talked to my RA about it, and she opened my old box, and I had something in there for me. She said she'd talk to the mail room, and the next day (yesterday) the mailroom called me, asking what my mailbox number is. So, I don't have a lot of faith in the mailroom right now. Ashley, my RA, said that she'd check my old box once a week or so, just in case.
And, after about a week and a half of trying to set up a time with the head of the psychology department, I finally got my major declared. I know it's kind of early to be declaring, but because I'm so set on it right now, I want an advisor who can help me figure out what classes I should take. And Zuiderveld wasn't helping much at all. So I declared, which changed my advisor at the same time. I'm still considering a double-minor, but it's too early to decide that one.
Other than that, not much is going on. But I'll try to start writing more :)

TWO HOURS LATER, I get out of a physics lecture. Not one of the best convocations I've gone to. Courtney liked it, though (go figure, with the computer-science based love of numbers). I, on the other hand, watched all of the numbers go straight over my head. But, two hours is a lot of time to get some thinking done... :D
Anyways, I'm off to read my sociology then head to bed. Exciting times in my life right now.

Not too much has been going on lately. On Wednesday is our first biology test, but I'm not too worried about it (yet). I'm supposed to give a speech on Friday, but it kind of looks like it's going to get moved to Monday, based on how fast we went through speeches today. Basically, what I'm doing right now is waiting for a few quizzes back to see how well I did (sociology, economics, religion), and thinking about what I want to take next year. I've been called obsessive about that, since we don't have to pick classes for a couple motnhs. Hmm. I've also begun listing all the classes I'm going to have to take to get my major, and the two possible minors.
The highlight of my day was going to the coffeeshop a few minutes ago. I've gone there enough where the coffeeshop-ladies know me pretty well, make a point to say hi and talk to me... and today they gave me a banana for free. I really like this atmosphere I get from the small school. I was laying in bed last night thinking about the school, and realized (again) that, besides my speech class, I enjoy going to my classes, and just love the college. And I know I made the right choice.

Last night I worked at the scholarship weekend, which was pretty cool. I met a lot of interesting people, and saw three from Glenwood who are planning on attending next year (and only one of the three I knew about already. I think this makes five Glenwood kids I know are coming...). I talked to Brian and his parents for awhile (he was in choir with me in highschool), and he gave me a lot of dirt on the new choir teacher. Apparently she leaves the school campus a lot, but, to quote Brian's mom, "she's in too good with Voltz and Cunningham to be in any danger of having to leave." Many people are very upset with the choir program, it sounds like...
I also talked to Dani about becoming a Student Ambassador. She said that the application process is coming up in a month or so, and she'd send me some information about everything. I'm not positive that I want to do this yet, but I guess that's what the information is about :) She said that for right now it's a paid position, but it sounds like the school is trying to change that. Interesting.
I also have a new mailbox number, due to complications at the mailroom. They called and said that someone else had my mailbox, and I had a package waiting for me. When I got to the mailroom, they said that whoever shares my mailbox had turned in a package slip that was for me, and not for them. So I had to get a new mailbox. When I told my RA this, she said that there was 100 to 1 odds that they had just delivered the slip to the wrong box, and hadn't bothered to investigate that farther, since there's only one key to my mailbox, and no one else can get into it. But fighting with the mailroom wouldn't have helped anything. Anyways, my new box is Z2095. Not too much different from the old, I suppose. Oh, and the package was a valentine's present from Doug's mom. Just when my Christmas candy was running low! Hahaha.

Well, not a long update, because I have BASIC to go to pretty soon, but I thought I'd at least get something posted. I feel like it's been such a long time since I've written anything, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot to talk about right now. Basically, my life is pretty full with homework and classes. I didn't think it would be so busy this semester, but I've got everything pretty well handled, I think.
Tomorrow's my relaxing day. I have a class from 8:30 to 9:45, then I'm done until 4:00, when I have choir. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself all day... maybe come back from class and take a nap. Courtney seems to do that a lot, and it always looks so appealing. :)
I went to yoga class tonight, which always puts me in a great mood. I feel so much more relaxed :) When I came out of class, I found Courtney, Jacob, and Joe all waiting for me, so the four of us went to dinner. It was entertaining. A half an hour of goofy conversations and compulsive giggling.
Anyways, I should get going. I'll try to get online again soon to update this.

Not really a whole lot to talk about right now... I gave my first speech in class today, which wasn't too bad, but also wasn't graded (and was only 2 minutes long, and there was someone standing right next to me), which probably was the cause of lessened anxiety.
My card stopped working again today, but I got that all straightened out, I think. I said I had no balance left, and when I went to talk to the head of Chartwells (our food service) he said that was silly... I should have $86 left on my account. So, he fixed that for me, and 20 minutes after I had set out for it originally, I got my frappachino.
I hate technology.
Anyways, I should do some packing before I go to my sociology class. I'm going back to Chatham for the weekend :)

Sarah came over today, which was nice. I havn't seen her since right before Christmas. She is home for the weekend, and since "home" for her is 20 minutes away from me, she came over for a couple of hours. We went out to the Chinese buffet in town, and talked about our classes, boys, fun girl things.
While were were sitting in my room, my hall director, Stephanie, called and told me I had visitors in the lobby. So Sarah and I trekked downstairs to see Steve and his parents, who had just come from choir scholarship auditions. So I got a bunch of visitors today. A nice surprise :)
Courtney and I are hanging around the room right now, waiting for the Uncommons to open so we can go get some food. I'm in the mood for grilled cheese, and she wants a cheeseburger, and that's the only place we can get those. And it doesn't open until 6:30.
After that, we think we're heading to this thing called Bruner Bash, where they open up the Bruner complex and throw a bunch of games in there. It sounds like its an annual thing held the weekend right after Christmas break. Courtney signed us up for swing dance lessons. We'll see if she can get me doing that.
Otherwise, nothing is really going on. Just been relaxing and enjoying my weekend, and hoping that for some reason all my classes get canceled next week ;)

Today is my first day of classes for this semester, and so far itss going ok. I only had one real class (I have choir at 4), which was Economics at 8:30, and it lasts until 9:45. It doesn't seem too bad, but it's going to be too early in the morning to think about things like this. :-P The professor seemed really nice. He graduated from SIUC in 2004, and moved from China to the area in 2000. He's got a really thick accent, which will make things a little more difficult, but not too bad. He seems to have the classic Chinese mentality - study hard, harder than you want to, and study often. He emphasized over and over how important it is to come to class on a daily basis, and that to do well on his quizzes we should be reading the chapters 3 to 4 times.
Anyways, until 4, the rest of the day is mine. I need to go to the bookstore and pick up one of my books that they didn't get in until last night, and while I'm out doing that I'll probably get some lunch.
Courtney and I got around to rearranging our room yesterday. Doug was over and hyelped out a lot, and didn't complain (too much) when we were indecisive, or when we figured out that we had moved Courtney's bed down too far and had to move it back up. The room seems a little more homey now, and a little bit bigger. I'll try to get around to taking pictures soon, but not until we finish picking it up and doing the finishing little "girl" things.
I'm happy to be back. It was hard to leave home, but its nice to see everyone :)

It hurts when the first things you do in the day are as follows:
Wake up to a chainsaw Take a shower that couldn't make up its mind, temperature-wise. Write a 70 dollar check.
Bleh.
Granted, the check was for textbooks for next semester. Collin had sent out an e-mail earlier in an attempt to sell his sociology books, and I e-mailed him back, he e-mailed me back, I called him, we met, I handed over a large check and he gave me 3 (Three!!) soc. books (all in VERY good condition).
In case anyone is curious, the soc. books were $92 used and $122 new through the bookstore. So maybe that check wasn't so bad after all. :)

I just got out of math class... it's starting to hit me that all of our classes are almost over. I'm still jealous of everyone else, though... most schools have finals this week (or even last week) and so are REALLY almost done. But I don't want to take finals right now. Who does??
I have to start talking to Ted about coming back to work over Christmas break. Right now, I'm trying to figure out all the days I'll need off, or need to work a certain shift, so I can just throw them all at him at once and be done with it :)
Courtney and I were up talking for quite a while last night. She and are thinking about rearranging our rooms, and even went "arrangement-shopping" by walking our hallway in our pjs, talking to people who had their doors open, and figuring out which style we liked best. Who knows if we'll actually get around to doing it, but it was fun to do. We also talked about where we want to end up next year... rumors are going around now that the new dorm is for upperclassmen, so we don't know if we'll be able to get into that. Ashley, our RA, told us last night on our shopping trip that it's all based on points... higher points get first dibbs. Points are based on grades, how many times you've been written up, and how long you've been on campus. I said that if I can't get into the new dorm, I'd like to just stay in Turner. The rooms are small, but it's nice to have the co-ed atmosphere (more laid back). Courtney said she feels like that, too. Then we had "the talk" ... do we want to stay roommates next year? My vote was yes. We get along well, go out a lot together, and even though we have different schedules of sleep and things like that, we've got it to where it works for us. We don't seem to be in each others way (even with the small rooms!! :) ). Courtney's vote: yes. She doesn't want to be thrown back into the pool of roommates when we both know this is working, and who knows what kind of roommate we could get next year??
So, I think we're going to stick together, as long as the school makes it work. I think they're really good about keeping people together who want to be roommates; at least, that's what I've heard.
Anyways, I should get going. I have some papers to edit (which reminds me, Dr. Kerbaugh said we should get our research papers back today, which is like getting our finals back. Pretty exciting!), and a chapter to read in my psychology book. Fuuun stuff :)

FRIDAY! :D This weekend is devoted to:
-working on Handel's Messiah research and paper-writing -1984 paper revisions -Concert for the Presbyterian church in Jacksonville Sunday morning -Paper on Michael Tippet's "A Child of Our Time" -Reading some of my psychology -Playing some (but not too much) Roller Coaster Tycoon, which was recently purchased at Wal*Mart for 10 dollars :D -attempting to enjoy this last weekend before the finals frenzy hits hard.
:) I think it'll be an ok weekend. I'm not too worried about anything right now.
It's been snowing pretty decently here lately, and I took my camera out yesterday. I updated my photobucket (http://photobucket.com/albums/c109/icgirl2009/) a few minutes ago.
Anyways, I'm going to get going. I want to read my psych... It's a chapter on therapies, which I find really interesting. Makes it a lot better to read :) :)
14 days until classes are over!

While I'm thinking about it, I wanted to remind my parents that I have a concert next Friday night... I'm not sure of the time, nor of what we're singing (beyond the long Vivaldi piece) but I just want to make sure you remember. I forgot until I was reminded last night :)
