3:19 pm - Starting Up
Summer Hiatus is over!

Hydroplayne has already practiced once, and done some more recording, so it is safe to say that although the summer isnt officially over, Summer Hiatus is.

The band is practicing twice this week (despite the fact that Sam has one of his frequent colds) and are playing at a party this Friday, the 16th of Setember. If you would like more information on this party, please contact Sam. It should be a good one to go to, since Hydroplayne is unveiling at least 2 new songs and are most likely playing some covers (something they've never really done much of before). Also playing will be the most excellent Dale Gribble Bluegrass Experience.

Thats about it for now, except that the release date for the Playne's Dreamcatcher EP has been pushed back again, to early October. The band is very unhappy about this and extends their apologies to those who are waiting with baited breath for their debut. Patience....patience

"Summer Hiatus" continues....

Although the band is taking a little bit of a break, with Craig in Arizona, Emma in Brazil, Sam soon to be in Wyoming and New Mexico, some things have been accomplished.

The band practiced (minus Amir) about a week and a half ago, and recorded on the 17th. The recording was especially exciting, since it seems like the EP is in sight! Sam, Amir, and Piper went down to Middlebridge and kicked ass! The tracks on the EP will be as follows (but not inthis order):

Glass
If the Stars Fell
Give Anything
Bog
Nudge

It's an exciting thing. The EP is scheduled for a Septmeber release, because there's still a bunch of work to do on it. Also, the band is looking to play live somewhere. So if you have a party or other event, and you'd like a rockin' band to play, contact Sam.

That's all for now.

All is somewhat dead in the vast world of the Playne.... with seperate members living their seperate lives this summer...

But more recording is scheduled for this Sunday (the 17th). the band might not shoot for the release of an EP (sorry all you out there waiting for one) but instead focus on recording as much as possible as fast as possible before switching to finalization mode.

In other news, Sam has been pretty sick this past week, and so is in no shape to sing, and therefor in no shape to practice. Hopefully that will change soon.

Until then, Happy Dreams

1:25 pm - Happy America Day
The aforementioned July 3rd recording session went incredibly well. Even though it took the better part of 7 hours, the band got all Emma's drum parts laid down. Also, Amir played perhaps the most kickass leads for Glass and Bog that anyone has ever heard. Unfortunately, the EP was not finished... because there is still some vocal and lead work to be done... which will be recorded the 17th.

In other news, it is July 4th! That's right... AMERICA DAY. So please spend the day reflecting on how corrupt and misguided this country has become. And also on how good it is.

Eat some barbeque!

Well Folks, this will most likely be the last entry for a while... at least until Piper and Sam get back from their Magical Excursion to the Happiest Place in Florida (Disneyworld).

Soon after that, recording will happen again, and maybe the tenatively-titled "Dreamcatcher EP" will be done.

Hope you don't get too lonely while we're gone...
Until then, Happy Dreams

There hasnt been an update in a while--- and a bunch has happened:

For one, Hydroplayne played at Sam's Party to very enthusiastic reception. They were a huge success. Everyone now wants to know when their CD is coming out.

On that note, the day after the party, Sam, Craig, and Piper went to Middlebridge to lay down some more tracks. Craig, this being his first recording session, did very well and put down all the tracks for the songs previously worked one. Then the three started work on "Give Anything." Unfortunately, Sam's voice was in very poor condition, so he couldnt lay down any vocals. But the rest went very well. This will be the last recording session for a while, as summer is starting and band members go on vacation. The next session tentatively scheduled is on July 3rd, when Emma finally gets a chance to record! And then TOUR (hopefully)!!!

That's about all for now, except that the site is slowly being revamped. So check there for new features (an image page is already up)!
Until next time, Happy Dreams, All!

Today, Piper and Sam went to Middlebridge and recorded.

And it was VERY successful. The two laid down tracks for Glass and Bog, with Glass especially turning out incredibly well (Bog doesnt have vocals yet). As it turns out, Gracie won't be singing any of Glass (no hard feelings, Grace!) so Sam laid down 3 vocal tracks in some places, as well as whispers, harmonies and vocal echos. Piper and Sam got their instruments down in one take. All in all, Glass sounds great even in a very raw form, and has something like 6 layers of sound already!

In other news, it appears that Goby will not be playing at Sam's party. Too bad... Hydroplayne is saddened by this news. But i guess that just means a longer set for the 'Playne! Woohoo!

Well thats all for now. Happy Dreams.

Just a breif update...

Hydroplayne has completed a new song, titled "Glass" that will be played at Sam's party. The band's friend Gracie Jones will most likely be a guest vocalist for this song, and the Playne is very excited at the prospect of working with her. The song itself is a very collaborative effort, with most of the music written by Piper, and the lyrics written by both Emma and Sam. When Simon (who dropped by at the band's latest practice) heard "Glass" he said: "I got tingles down my spine. I havent heard anything better on the radio. We need to get you guys recorded."

The band agreed.

On the party front:
Goby might be playing a little 3-4 song opener for Hydroplayne, so come and see them too! For the 50-or-so people invited: Feel free to bring significant others, or anyone you want to. For anyone who i didnt invite who thinks that i just forgot them: feel free to come.

Well, thats about it. I guess this update wasnt so breif after all.
Happy dreams.

Not much going on...

Hydroplayne is busy recording and practicing, as well as working new material, so there isnt a whole lot of news.

EXCEPT:

Sam's Birthday is coming up. And that means PARTY!!!!
And what a coincidence, Hyroplayne will be playing at that party. So if you are interested in seeing Hydroplayne live (they will be unveiling several new songs, and maybe a guest appearance) or if you just want to come and party down, please contact Sam at MagicSam88@aol.com.

The Party will be on June 4th.
And there will be tacos....

Happy Dreams, All

Recording went smoothly yesterday. Amir, Sam , and Piper went down to Middlebridge and layed down their parts for If the Stars Fell, and learned much about the recording process. This will be probably the first and last time that any large number of the band assembles at one time; the rest of the sessions will be more of individual work. If things keep going the way they are now, there should be a four-or-five-song EP out by summertime.

Tomorrow afternoon three out of the five members of Hydroplayne will be traveling to Middlebridge Sound to start the long and arduous recording process. They will try to lay down the infant stages of four to five songs (possibly: If the Stars Fell, Bog, Nudge, Give Anything, and Not Alone). The wonderful man that works and lives at Middlebridge, Andrew Coupe, will be producing (Sam might co-produce) and the band is busy planning the album and designing artwork.
In other news, Simon has found several possible gigs for the band in June and July. He is also in negotiations with a record company about further recording. But first the 'Playne needs to record a kickass demo that highlights the band's unique abilitites.
Well thats it fo now. Check back for more updates later. Until then, Happy Dreams All.

Early Sunday morn, when most people are worshiping their various gods in their temple of choice, Sam will be visiting Andrew, and will be talking about recording Hydroplayne. This marks the first serious step towards the release of their album! Yip-py!

Just a quick update:

Hydroplayne has just enlisted Simon to be their manager. This means that there will actually be a person working to find them gigs and get them out into the world. So things are looking up in the world of Playne. Thanks a bunch, Sock!

Guess what, All You Out There in Hydroplayne Land,

There is a possibility of a summer Hydroplayne Tour!!!! Wooooo! You heard right. If the band can work out scheduling difficulties, they will most likely be touring with the band Goby sometime in July. Keep checking back for more info on this Playne milestone!
Happy Dreams.

Hydroplayne's performance at Simon's party was a pretty big success, with only a few minor mistakes, and only one big one. Two more songs were added to the set list, so it was as follows:

Bog
If the Stars Fell
Give Anything
Fearfully Bright
It's Not Too Late
Helpless
Sand and Shadows
Cinders
Half-Burnt Love Notes
Weaver
Nudge

I feel something has to be said, however, I said something about a certain band member, although originally intended to somehow end up as a great compliment, ended up as a terrible insult. So for that I am sorry, my intentions were good. But as they say: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." And I'm getting pretty friendly with the devil.
I would just like to say that I love the whole band, and would be nothing without them.

12:30 am - Party Down Now, Y'all
For all those interested, the 'Playne will be playing at their good friend, Simon's, party tomorrow evening. Simon is turning the big-ish 17 (well at least he'll be able to get into R-rated movies) and it promises to be a raucously good time, including a bonfire, food, running around, and , of course, live music from your favorite local band, Hydroplayne. So if you are interested in going, please email Sam at MagicSam88@aol.com. Hope to see you there!

9:50 am - All is quiet on the Hydroplayne Front
not much has been happening in the wide world oh Hydroplayne. At the end of the week, Sam will be traveling to Europe, so wish him luck on his first overseas trip. The only news is that the band most likely will be playing at their friend Simon's (the nice lad who drove equipment) birthday party. And thats about it. they havent practiced, they havent played.... oh well. Happy dreams, all.
