I'm sitting in my American Presidency class right now and we're talking about the first Presidential Debate. The first guy to speak prefaced his comment with "I am not biased at all" (in a serious tone) and preceded to say that he thought McCain's performance was much stronger than Obama's and that he thought McCain had won the debate. Even though media analysis indicate that Obama won and that Obama's lead in national polls jumped up to 50% after the debate, a high since he became the nominee.

If you're not biased, you're an idiot.

EDIT:

I know Sarah Palin has become sort of a punchline lately and I don't really like to bash and I try to just look at issues and stay pretty non-partisan but this is sort of jaw dropping.

I'd join this but I don't really want to be associated with a potential crime.

2:38 pm - The Inevitable Rise And Liberation of Niggy Tardust!
On November 1st, Saul Williams released his newest album: The Inevitable Rise And Liberation of Niggy Tardust! which was heavily produced and influenced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Citing the spiraling downfall of the record industry and general discontent by artists with record labels, Saul and Trent chose to release the album online, free of any constraints imposed by the recording industry. You may either elect to support Saul by paying $5 for the album or simply download the album for free.

If you’re familiar with how Radiohead just released In Rainbows, this may sound familiar. Although, this release wasn’t some scheme to get people to buy the actual CD later on.

Seeing as how the album is very good and you can get it for the grand total of $0, I suggest that anyone reading this go to Saul’s site and download the album. Listen to it. If you like it, send $5 his way.

If you are interested in the flaming mess that is the record industry, I suggest you read this article which was written in response to the shutdown of the music pirating site OiNK. It’s long but it’s a great read and you will feel much more informed afterward.

But for now, just get Saul’s album. Check out “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, “Break”, and my personal favorite “WTF!”.

12:22 pm - and all that could have been.
I know that it sounds really juvenile and everything, but I really wish that I were home right now and that I could volunteer to help fight the fire. I know that I don’t have any firefighter training and that it would be really difficult, but I still think I could pick up techniques and stuff and at least help. I don’t like sitting here, watching San Diego burn, while they say they’re short-staffed on firefighters.

They need all the help they can get.

I finally a job at an Apple Store and today I went in to sign forms and stuff so I can work there. I have to sign one that says if I invent anything computer related while working for Apple, they own it. So if, for example, I write an algorithm for my computer science class that can turn any word into piglatin (which I had to do), Apple owns it. I also had to sign one that says I’m not allowed to sell computers or Apple products to countries like Syria, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, or Al-Qeada.

I’m not allowed to sell supercomputers to terrorists?! What the hell?!

Halo 3 comes out at 12AM tonight/tomorrow morning. I do not have an Xbox 360 nor do I have a television in my room.

I’m going to miss the premiere of the most highly anticipated video game of the year. Shit.

11:57 am - Ricockulous!
I am mystified by the fact that people still haven’t figured out how to use their cellphones after all these years. When you’re sitting in class and someone’s phone starts ringing at full volume... Is this person retarded? How do people still not know to turn their phones off or on vibrate when they’re somewhere that cellphones aren’t allowed?! Conversely, how do people still not know how to turn their phones on vibrate when they’re somewhere loud. That’s why the vibrate function exists! “I couldn’t hear my phone ringing” is not a suitable excuse!

If it were like two weeks since cellphones had come out and everyone was getting used to these new fanged pieces of technology, I could understand, but it’s been years!

Figure it out!
