I really wish my doctor's appointment was sooner.
That's all.

So today, my dad had his car window smashed in and his Garmin stolen. He went to the Yankee game and parked on the street instead of in a lot.
Poor daddy.

Happy Birthday America

4th of July is the day the colonists officially snatched their independence from them dirty Brits. Something I will forever be grateful for.

(UGH Imagine if we all spoke in British accents and said "biscuits" and "knickers" and paid like 60% income tax and had no dental insurance. UGH. Thanks, rebels.)

Um, anyone going to watch fireworks?

[ music | Is It Really So Strange? ]

First week of camp is over. Only six more to go. It's not bad. I really like my group leader and the other three dudes that I work with. And we have a really small group. We had 11 boys this week, and it's going up to 17 next week. And then after that, it'll be gradually shrinking until the end of camp. The kids are really good. Except, we have one kid that hits other campers and then lies about, and one booger kid. I think you know what I'm talking about. Yuck. He's really dumb, too. Can't even put his shirt on by himself.

I'm not going back next year. Before I was thinking that maybe I could see if they had a full time position for me there, or maybe work there for the summer and try and get a teaching job in the fall. But next year I'll need a real job, like a career. And I'm not that desperate to be part of the family, or whatever. (I don't really fit in anyways. Oh wells.) And I hate kids, I really do. Sometimes I don't, when they're being cute, and these kids are really cool, but deep down inside, I can't stand the little buggers. And even though these kids are for the most part good kids, they're still loud and obnoxious and impatient and they grab shit that isn't theres and then act like you gave it to them...you know, kids. This will be my last summer working with them.

I'm going to try to get a storyboarding internship at Blue Sky Studios. Conveniently located in White Plains, but soon moving to Connecticut...still a pretty easy commuting distance. I need to apply now for the winter, but I have like no portfolio. I need to draw people. I seriously want that job. Storyboarding is perfect.

I also want to try and offer knitting classes. A basic class for an hour at a yarn shop usually costs between $60-100. Knitting is a rich-people activity. I'm sure I could teach knitting. And make sooo muuuch caaaash. I want to use the camp to advertise. They have a bulletin board...and I can also go to some craft stores or something. If I do this (and I so will), my issue is this: people visiting the camp will generally have a ton more money than the people shopping at Michael's. Can I get away with, say, advertising lessons for $60 in one place, and $30 in another place? And would it be a good idea or a bad idea? I really know nothing about business. I definitely want to give this a shot, though. I think I'll also visit all two of Westchester's yarn shops and ask if I can teach for them. I doubt I'll get anything there, though. They usually teach classes themselves and then the profit goes to the store. Unless it's like a special workshop. Also I don't know exactly how these classes are taught (maybe I should go to one? Not worth sixty bucks), so I'd probably be doing everything all wrong or whatever. Hmmm....

Nuffink else to write about today.

Well, I got my blood taken this afternoon. I made my dad come with me and hold my hand. I almost passed out and thought I was going to have an asthma attack. But then my dad bought me ice cream, so yay! Sort of. Now I'm just hoping my results will be normal.

I've got a pretty scary health issue going on. It's been a problem for a few months, and I apparently waited a really long time to get it checked out.
I have an appointment with a specialist in two weeks and I'm scared. I also am being made to actually get my bloodwork done this year.

I am absolutely terrified. Trying to use online symptom matchers just makes it worse- there are a lot of scary things that this could be. On the other hand, there are also a lot of nothings that it coud be. I hope it's something in the middle, on the nothing end of the scale- but something that is easily cured.

Watching Xavier learn new things every day is actually amazing. Today, he started imagining things to play with. He had a bowl, which he announced was "tea," and made all of us "drink" it. It seems like nothing, but it is so much more grown up than anything that he's played before. Development is fucking cool.

PIED PIPER- New Pillows album came out on my birthday. GOD they are fast. They put out like three albums a year. And all of their music is good. It's amazing. I need moooooore.

I got back from Annapolis last night. Brought Chase with me. It took us EIGHT hours. And we had to transfer in Baltimore and Philly. I hate Greyhound. My mom still won't let me drive down there. Because the highways around Baltimore are "confusing." Whatevs.

I had a really great birthday. Chase took me shopping and out to dinner. (Except more like I took him, because he only has one arm so I had to drive.) And we walked down to the harbor and hung out there a bit. Then they had cake for me at the house. It was really nice. I had a good week.

We have one kitten left. The mean one. He's not so mean when you play with him. Like, I can get him to crawl over my legs if I drag a piece of yarn around. And he fights with himself over a film cannister, it's so cute. I should stop saying he, because he's actually a girl. She likes to stalk around Eri's room and pounce on invisible birds. It's fun.

Camp is starting in two days. Mmm, big juicy paychecks. I am so buying myself a spinning wheel (I'm such a loser). And the motorcycle class I signed up for was full, the lady called me on Tuesday, I was so pissed. The earliest I can take it now is September. Sooo it's likely I won't be getting a bike/scooter this summer. But it's okay, Dad says the best time to buy is the fall.

So, three languages may just officially be too confusing for me. Tonight, I was drunk-dialed by two of my friends from school. Dave started speaking French to me, and I answered in Spanish..and then was too bewildered to continue the conversation coherently. All I could manage was "AHHH TOO MANY LANGUAGES!"
I pretty much need to do some French reading this summer, so I don't wind up speaking sprenchglish in my French lit class.

Two of the kitties have been adopted and one more should be going out tomorrow, thanks to my cousin Kenny and his amazing fiancee Amanda, who called like everyone she knows and got them to take my cats. We're probably going to keep the mean one for a little while longer. Because he needs to be "socialized" and no one is going to take him if he keeps being such a beast.

Dad took me to look at a motorcycle today. I really liked it, like the style and the height was perfect (and it was GREEN), but it was kind of a piece crap, it needs a ton of work, the speedometer doesn't work, it's all rusty...and I think it's too fast for me right now. But I want a bike like that.

I'm really tired and I"m going to Annapolis tomorrow morning to see Chase. Except I screwed up buying the bus ticket and now I'm going to uhhh Philly. I hate Greyhound. I know this one's my fault, but I still hate Greyhound. My mom still won't let me drive down there because "the highways around Baltimore are confusing." Yuck. So instead it's going to take me like eight hours and bus stations are so disgusting. And I have to try and fix my ticket and the people who work for Greyhound are like the dumbest people on the planet and this is so not going to work. I'm an idiot.
