3:21 pm - Thank Goodness for Fall Fashion
|
Summer wear always puts me in a rut, because I really don't have the body for slinky skirts and tight tops. However, I am the queen of fall fashion.
As I strolled into the break room this morning, cute engineer friend says, "Hey, very nice outfit."
Must say, I don't feel too bad about the power outage, my broken umbrella, and my messed up hair-- it's all about the perfectly-layered outfit.

3:13 pm - London Baby
|
Whoever said that a trip to Europe would be romantic, fun-filled, and marvelous-- apparently never flew coach via KLM airlines during Spring Break and on a Friday. The flights were awful!
However, London was marvelous! The architecture, the history, the accents, and the yummy chocolate was to die for. I am still amazed at their transport system, which is something that California definitely needs to improve on. If you can't get there by tube or by bus, then it's not worth going to. ;)
MIND THE FREAKIN' GAP!
I did miss my rice. I'm sorry, but fish-n-chips just doesn't cut it.
Cheerio!

Sister: “Can I have $100 for my prom dress?”
Me: “No. Ask Dad.”
Sister calls Dad: “Can I have $100 for my prom dress?”
Dad: “Sure honey.”
Dad calls Me: “Can I borrow $100?”

12:17 pm - I hate my job, well parts of it

They cut my development cycle in half and I tell them that "quality will suffer". They say, "we understand that quality will suffer".
They get the product and say, "why did quality suffer?"
crap.

Heaven is cheese in a can.
You know something is wrong when you've gone through 2 subs, 1/2 dozen Krispy Kremes, and all the cheese and crackers in the world.

If you're going to go in line for three days to enter a singing contest, you better be able to carry a tune. I wonder why they aren't focusing on talented singers for this round of American Idol. Simon probably has all of his stereotypes, criticisms, and disses written down before hand so that he can memorize them. How many unique ways can you think of to express, "you suck."
"Saying that was mediocre would be a compliment." "You are probably the worst singer in the world." "You are the equivalent of a musical sleeping pill." "The best thing about that audition was the ending." "You'd do really good on broadway." "Not what we are looking for." "If we let you through, they'd shut down the fox network." "You're perfect for dinner theatre." "You'd do well working for cruises." "That was pathetic."

You know you've reached your corporate low when you start taking out the dictionary to complete your performance review. There are only so many ways you can reword people skills and organization savvy without your boss questioning your originality.

9:17 am - Sins of the Father
|
Some people have no tact at all! Someone had the nerve to call and ask me, "Are you still fat?" and "Is your husband still unemployed and stuck at home?"
Last time I checked, your name was not on my marriage certificate -- So bug off!
Besides the two rudest questions on earth, she had the balls to ask me whether I knew when my father would be in town and to tell him to pay up all his debt.
Just so everyone is clear, I am the offspring of a once very-wealthy business man that went bust during the earthquake in Taiwan and the offset of the Silicon Valley boom. And, for several years now, I've had to ward off angry creditors and have dished out probably $10K worth of my own money.
Now, here's the moral dilemma. Should a daughter have to take responsibility for debt that she did not incur? Here is where I'm stuck; I have enough money to live a rather comfortable lifestyle, make all my bills on time, and a little left over for emergency purposes. However, I'm not rolling in cash, my husband is living off of disability pay, and I have oodles of debt myself. Now, does this mean I should take on some of the debt that my father has, just because -- if I tried really hard -- I'd probably find a way to make ends meet?
First of all, I did not borrow that money in the first place. I wasn't the one with the failed business. I wasn't the one that chose to buy a new car and 2 new condos instead of paying off my debt. And, I wasn't the one that promised all these people that you'd pay them back as soon as possible.
Besides, if I forked over all my savings, sold my stock, cashed in my equity, and sold all my property -- I still wouldn't have enough to pay everyone.
Argh.

Stupidity accidently informing your male boss that you have "female" problems.
I would have been better off announcing my cramps over the PA.

Just because you reserved the conference room, it doesn't mean you can walk in, in the middle of our meeting, and start setting up your unit.
Just because I mentioned I wanted to start a business, it doesn't automatically mean I'll take you in as a partner, with 50% of the profit, and with me doing all the legwork.
Just because I'm your daughter, it doesn't mean you can hang up on me, throw a tantrum, and lock yourself in your car.
Just because I'm your mom, it doesn't mean you can give me those puppy dog eyes and expect a treat at all hours of the night.

I'm back at work. Boo hoo for me.
Forgot my password, had a 1 hour conversation with the IT guy to prove that I am -- in fact -- who I say I am, and I dozed off in a meeting thinking SAM was an engineer, when in fact it's the new super code name for my product. My coworker had to nudge me and mouth the words, "they are talking about you."
I miss Judge Judy and my noontime soaps.

If you're going to buy your spouse a Christmas gift and you want it to be a surprise, don't save the confirmation page as a bookmark on your internet browser.
Thanks honey, the Kate Spade bag looks lovely.

Whoever said having a transplant is like getting a tooth pulled must have been high on something mighty illegal.
Here I am with 4 holes in my body, dooped on painkillers, and in constant pain.
Next time someone asks me for a body part, I might just have to decline.
In any case, donor and recipient are doing well. My husband looks so much better now and the kidney is doing well so far. Let's just keep our fingers crossed.
