7:45pm: rain and shine
Last night I awoke at ten to three. The fenders were squeaking against each other and the boat was rocking. I heard dad cough, so he was awake, too.

I forgot to mention yesterday that Van Vanderpool on the Cornation called us. He will be in the Cove today. he just came up from Seattle.

I did some spelling today.

Dad didn't head the Defense out fo muddy Hoonah until 10:27 or so.

We anchored in Inian Cove. We waited for the incoming tide so South Pass won't "hyastack." [When the outgoing current from the Inside passage has to fight the currents from the tidal change, the two would collide and create large, nasty waves the mariners referred to as haystacks.]

We got into the Cove around 8(pm).

Paul Johnson was down with his crew. They helped tie the boat.

I brought the car and an excited, panting dog up to the house.
