I was vacuuming the room, and while moving a stool I bumped into it and it fell over.
Now, it's a pole lamp, with just a stick and a shade at the top, so you wouldn't think it would be a big deal. But when it hit the tile floor, the light bulb shattered. So I went to get the metal end bit that was still in there out, thinking it still wouldn't be a big deal, since we've got other light bulbs.
After about fifteen minutes of work with hands, paper towels, pliers, and much repeating of "lefty loosy, righty tighty," the metal end is still firmly stuck in the lamp and my hands hurt. I still have no idea how to get the damn thing out.
Argh. |

-- random updates! Hey, that's what this blog is for...
[+] Wapsi Square, a comic I should have linked long ago. I may have, I don't remember. Go see it anyways.
[+] New free stock photo sites I have found: - Visipix: takes some digging, but there is some interesting stuff to be found, especially in the special collections. - ImageAfter: looks like a good selection here. - IntuitivMedia: Nice collection of black & white and objects. - MorgueFile: leftovers from design projects.
[+] Azure Ray, a band worth checking out.
[+] Ex-Gay Watch, a new blog I'm keeping up with. Focus on, obviously, gay religious news, especially ex-gay ministries' political activities. |

"Astute transplants know, within 20 minutes of moving here, that Savannah has its own particular, peculiar code. The problem is that, since the city's founding in 1733, the first unspoken rule in Savannah's Book of Unspoken Rules has been that you do not speak about our unspoken rules. New arrivals are expected to figure out the do's and don'ts without any coaching. And if they don't figure it out, they get frustrated and leave -- which is, in some cases, all the better.
Leave it to Diversions to blow the city's cover.
Through hours of research, hundreds of interviews and a case of Bud Light, we have come up with what will be known, henceforth and forevermore, as The Rules for Living in Savannah. Read, heed, memorize." ( Ones I actually get after living here only three weeks are starred. ) |

"How shall I do it? Aha! I know... I'll turn him into a flea. A small, harmless, little flea. Then, I'll put that flea into a box, put that box into another box, send the box to myself, and when I get it, [laughs] I'll smash it with a hammer! It's brilliant, I tell you! Genius, I say!" -- Yzma, The Emperor's New Groove |
