||Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise
Well, last night... two words.
Such an amazing gig. It really was. I met Steph and her friend Laura when I was on my way down to Mcdonalds to meet them, cause Steph was going to borders, then we went to McD's and met Mhairi. There were loads of Belgians and they started talking to us and offered to put our food on their bill but we didn't know what they were talking about, ha. Then the guy got a tray of coke and made Steph carry it to their table for them, it was bizzarely random and funny. Then when we were eating another Belgian guy walked in with a pint and sat down with his wife. They had like 4 Big Macs between them. Then a cleaner told him to get the pint out cause they didn't have a lisence and he ignored her, so he got the manager and the guy told him to fuck off. He noticed we were looking round and started telling us to go to Belgium cause they could do what they want and in Scotland you can't do anything (whole lists were mentioned). Then the manager came back and he finished the pint and put the glass on another table and every time the cleaner passed he was shouting "she is my mother!!" and something about the manager getting pleasure with his son. Lmao.
Anyways, after that madness we avoided all foriegners and went to Mhairi's flat and then to the Academy. Managed to get Mhairi in the downstairs by going in then Steph taking out her own ticket and Laura's and getting Mhairi in. Woopee! The first band were allright, I don't acutually know who they were though. Then Stellastarr* were on, I'd heard about them but didn't know they were supporting. But they were really good so I'll probably get their album after Christmas or something.
We (being Steph, Mhairi and I [Laura disappeared]) got to about the 3rd row of people back, directly infront of Dave. The shoving started right away, but it got me nearer the front so it wasn't too bad.. apart from the old guy who kept shoving and elbowing the 3 of us the whole night, he was a danger zone. But the whole show was fucking amazing, I was directly infront of Dave and Perry was dancing around like a lunatic, it was fantastic. They kept posing for photos and blowing kisses and waving, they have the most crowd awareness I've ever seen in a band. It was sosososoo good :D. I'll try to get a setlist, cause I can't remember all of what they played. But they played Been Caught Stealing near the start, which was what I wanted to hear most *grins*. They did the acoustic of Everybody's Friend and Just Because, which was supercool, and the 2nd encore was Jane Says acoustic. The 2nd encore, Perry came out with 2 bottles of champagne and loads of plastic cups and opened the bottles and the bouncers poured it all and handed it out into the crowd. I got the end of 2 glasses, not much but at least I can say Jane's Addiction gave me champange! Haha. But the whole show was absolutely electric and the crowd was relatively tame. There was a nice guy behind me trying to make sure he wasn't crusing me and the people around me, which was nice. Heh heh.
Just.. wow. Hehe. I looked out for potential Chilis board people but I didn't see anyone, oh wells. I got an unofficial t-shirt, it's pretty funky. Yup yup yup.
