[ mood | lonely ]

Hey all, I'm back! We got back to Adelaide yesterday morning, so I've been eating, sleeping, eating (I'm gonna put those five kilos I lost back on in no time), and not much else.

None of us really wanted to come back here. The seven weeks that we were away went by so fast that it's scary. I had the best time ever though, and I'm really going to miss everyone now that I'm back home. It's strange, I didn't even know some of these people before I went away, but now we're kind of like some weird dysfunctional family. I got home yesterday and was just wanting someone to barge into my room and sit on my bed, offering to give me a crappy hand massage or something, as they have been for so long. It's kind of lonely not to have them all here.

But I ran into Brad today at Marion, which was good, so I wandered around with him for a while, and hopefully I'll be seeing him and Holly on Wednesday.

Well, I gotta go. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm back home, so feel free to contact me... I need to see people!

Toodle pip!

Eric.

2 Fallen stars| Watch the stars as they fall from the sky

Hi all! [03 Jan 2004|05:12pm]
[ mood | ridgy-didge! ]

Hey, Eric here, alive and well.

Well, the exchange part of our trip is over, much to the combined pleasure and sadness of many people. We're now in Berlin, in our lovely youth hostel. There's five of us in one small room (plus five bulging suitcases), so needless to say, the comfort level isn't exactly through the roof. But still, we're all having fun.

However, Holly and I have come to the conclusion that this exchange has been so riddled with soap opera like dramas that the only logical thing to do would be to write a book about it.

Anyhow, Berlin so far has been good, if tiring. Today we went on a 4 hour long tour of the city, which was somewhat boring. And we've met a few other Aussies, which is exciting stuff for us.

Well, I'll be off now, but will try to update soon (the computers are in the youth hostel. Yay!).

Toodles,

Eric.

Happy Birthday to Sam... [17 Dec 2003|08:23am]
[ mood | busy ]

Here I am, at school again.

I'm seriously having the best time here, it's so much fun and I haven't been homesick at all; I don't think I've even had time to think about home. We had so much fun over the last to days. We went to Hohegeiß, in the mountains, and there was snow everywhere, it was fantastic.

Other than that, we've been going to school, hanging around in the city of Göttingen, and going swimming, which is our collective favourite hobby. The swimming centre is so cool, even if I did get yelled at by a strange German woman.

Anyway, I really don't think that there's that much to say. I'm still alive, as is everyone else. I'm a bit sick (sore throat), but that's probably because Diana put snow in my bed. I shall post a longer entry later when I have the time.

Toodles!

Eric.

[12 Dec 2003|12:58pm]
Hey,

All is still well here. My host family are still nice people, and even though it's still freezing, it's getting bareable. It snowed last night, that was rather exciting. We ran out of the restaurant we were in and stood in it until we remembered that snow is wet.

I'm at school at the moment, which is so cool. The school is huge, and so relaxed; they don't have uniforms, and rules are minimal (gee, sounds oddly like Marbury, doesn't it?). We're having the best time, Sam Bradley, Miranda and I have the best class ever. We've been going on heaps of excursions and stuff too, which is fun. So, in short, we've been having a great time here.

We've seen heaps of other towns in the area too; yesterday we went to Goslar and the day before we went to Heiligenstadt. It's all been really cool.

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know that I'm still safe, etc, etc. Hope you're all doing well, too!

Tchüß!

Eric.

A list f random things that Eric misses about Australia. People not included. [06 Dec 2003|06:08pm]
- White bread. Good Lord, how I miss white bread.

- My pillows. Having one flat pillow when you're used to two fat ones really sucks.

- My parent's sane driving. My host mother is a lovely person, but her driving is heart attack inducing.

- A normal computer keyboard. There's so many things wrong with this one.

- Being able to blast music. All I have here is my discman, and it's music blaring capabilities are not very high.

- Warm weather.

- My old toothbrush. This new one is crappy.

- A normal shower that blasts out really hot water.

- Plum sauce on everything.

- Reading material.

- Being able to walk from the shower to my room with a towel around me.

- White bread. I know, I already said this, but I miss it so much.

- Lift soft drinks. Lift here is some kind of crappy apple drink that Sam mistakenly bought.

- Calling Coke 'Coke', rather than 'Cola'.

- Freedom to go on the internet!

Well, that's enough for now. It's bed time. And before you say anything, yes, I'm well aware that it's only 6:20. I don't care.

Toodles, and goodnight.

Eric.

She's ALIVE! [06 Dec 2003|05:40pm]
[ mood | sleepy ]
[ music | Nothing. I am music-less. ]

Yes, that's right, I'm still very much alive. I just haven't had the time to update, and on the one instance that I did (at school), several people saw that I had downloaded MSN to the computer and collectively gathered around screeching "I want to log in now!" and "No! Piss off! It's my turn!", until I walked off.

So, I'm here in Göttingen and very much alive. Alive and bloody cold. It's freezing here, I've never been as cold in my life as I was today.

My host family are very nice, English speaking people, not at all vicious killers. School is good, but strange. Everyone speaks really fast in my class, so Miranda and I sit there and stare blankly a lot of the time. But we get to sit with a guy who looks like the pig farmer from Australian Idol. We thought that was cool. English lessons are so much fun, it's hilarious to see people struggle with phrases such as "Press the switch".

We've been on a heap of excursions and stuff too- we even got to meet the Mayor. He gave us free bottles of Coke. We also went canoe-polo-ing, which was fun, and last night we went to the school circus. That was very cool. And today I went ice skating for the first time ever. It's fun, and I only fell over twice. I thought that was rather good, myself (my host student fell over three times).

So we've all been having lots of fun, and we're not even homesick (except Daniel, who is counting down the days until we leave).

Hope everything's good back home, and please leave me a comment, all of you!

Toodles!

Eric.

Christa: It's ok, there's nothing you can do to help it now.
Shanima: (hysterically) No, I almost dropped my mobile!

Liz: Who wants nuts?
Daniel: (in a ridiculously high-pitched voice) I do!

I'm back! [26 Nov 2003|04:27pm]
[ mood | happy ]

I have returned, and this keyboard is even weirder than the one I was on yesterday.

Anyway, to continue where I so hastily left off, we've all been having a great time here. Yesterday we went on a guided tour of München, which was very cool. We forst saw the Glockenspiel go off, and we then went to see the Frauenkirche, also known as the devil's church. That was so amazing, it puts Aussie religion to shame. We saw other stuff, like the royal gardens, and some buildings... I don't remember what they were now. Afterwards, we did some more shopping, and climbed this huge tower that looks over München. We had to climb over three hundren steps, but the view was incredible. And we now have a very cool video of us running back down the staris with Daniel holding the camera and crying 'come to Mama!'

Today we went to Bavaria Filmstadt, which has a whole heap of film sets and such, which was so much fun. Our tour guide had us make a movie, but all the lines were in German, so it's absolutely hysterical, if not grammatically accurate. We got to do so much cool stuff there, we sat on the dragon thing from 'The Neverending Story', ran through the submarine from 'Das Boot', and went on this hilarious action movie ride thing, where the seats move. We went to the Hofbräuhaus for a late lunch, which was so nice.

Well, I gotta go again, will write again soon.

Toodles,

Eric.

It's good to be on the net again! [25 Nov 2003|03:16pm]
Wow, German keyboards are really hard to type on.

Anyway, hi to everyone reading! I'm in an internet cafe near the youth hostel in München. I'll give you all a brief overview of all that's happened lately...

The plane trip to Kuala Lumpur sucked. It was seven hours long, and I was so bored by the end of it that I felt considerably less sane than usual, not to mention tired. Holly and I fell half-asleep several times in a little cafe in the airport. We got back on the plane for Germany at midnight, where I almost slept through takeoff. I got to swap seats (the back seats rule!), and fell asleep practically straight away, next to some weird Malaysian guy. Apparently I slept through breakfast too, because I woke up six and a half hours later. It was actually a god flight, I wasn't nearly as bored.

Anyway, we got off the plane and went to catch a train to München. We sat around for a while, being cold, until the train came. We than went the wrong way and missed the train completely, much to Frau Schmoock's hysteria. We ended up having to catch a train to Stuttgart, and then here. By the time we got here, we were all so tired and barely able to remain upright, but the teachers wouldn't let us sleep. So we wandered around Marienplatz for a while, where I bought a bracelet, a pair of cool German slippers, and some deodorant.

We went back and had dinner, and everyone went to go to bed, but the peace didn't last to long, with Liz and Sam Bradley having a huge screaming fight outside our doors. Apparently it started with setting an alarm, and they ended up screaming obscenities at each other.

Crap, I've gotta go, but will update soon.

Toodles!

Eric.

Bon Voyage [23 Nov 2003|09:54am]
[ mood | cold ]
[ music | Something by The Clash ]

This will be my last post until... I don't know when. Until I can find a German internet cafe, I suppose.

I'm leaving this afternoon, and I only just finished packing everything We managed to cram it all in, but the suitcase is half a kilo over the limit. But we figure it should be fine, mainly because taking things out and re-packing it would require time and effort.

So I get to spend the next the next twenty four hours of my life either sitting on a cramped, uncomfortable plane where I will no doubt get nauseous and be unable to sleep, or sitting in the ridiculously humid Kuala Lumpur airport wasting three hours. Sounds like a fun time, doesn't it? God, I hate planes so much. I don't think it's possible for a person to wholly retain their sanity after spending an entire day in a one small seat with a tray in front of you digging into your stomach, only moving to go to the toilet. And then there's the annoyingly perky, overly-made up air hostesses. And and annoyingly perky teacher sitting behind you.

But this time I want to go see the pilot. I've never done it before, and it looks like fun. I was offered once, but my brother was throwing up in a paper bag next to me so I had to stay. And another thing; they'd better give me some form of colouring-in book. I will be very disappointed if they don't.

To waste the time until I have to go to the airport, I'm looking at all those weird claiming communities on Livejournal. Some of my favourites include "Claim a Wrestler", "Claim a bisexual person", "Claim some buttocks", "Claim a Korean Song" and the one that I love, "Claim an Ovary".

I'll probably get to Germany and realise I've forgotten something important, but I'll have proud ownership of Nicole Kidman's left ovary.

And now Mum's complaining because I won't let her take my teddy out of the suitcase. I'm not leaving her here again!

Well, I'd better go and see how many things I've forgotten.

Toodles!

Eric.

My ears hurt again. [21 Nov 2003|08:14pm]
[ music | Antiskeptic: Running Now ]

I had my last day of school for the year today!

I actually had a good day, too. We had fun, especially in Biology, which was my last lesson. And by the way, everyone was right, he is incompetent. But we got to play with microscopes and pretend we knew what we were doing, while in reality everyone was doing other things, although Mr Pope didn't realise it. So I'm finally done with this year of education, which means that I've finally gotten rid of Ms Williams (Yes! Sucked in, Christina!).

I then went into the city after school, where I got the first of my early Christmas presents, a new, uber-spiffy Discman that I'm not allowed to open until I get through customs. Other presents included clothing, earrings, the new Antiskeptic CD, which I'm listening to now, and $1,000.

Speaking of earrings, I had to put the sleepers through my new ear piercings last night, so now they hurt like hell and are quite possibly infected. Ugh, that really sucks.

On another note, I have decided to get a job. A paying job, that is. That's right, Eric will be earning money. I need it though. We (me, Anna, Ashlee and Dani) decided to earn ourselves some money so we can afford Big Day Out tickets. I'll have to wait until after I get back though, which sucks. It also means that I can't join the others when they're working for the school (much to Anna's absolute horror, even though it pays really well). As long as I don't need to work around food, I'm happy.

Well, I'd best be off for now.

Toodles, all.

Eric.

Stop it, woman! [21 Nov 2003|11:31am]
Arrgh, we're in the library and this relief teacher keeps repeatedly calling out "Eric... Eric," to some other child, and I keep turnig around, and Anna's laughing at me.

It's Mrs. Dyer's fault.

Meh, I have nothing else to say. It's my last day of school, which is rather cool, so we're wasting it.

By the way, 'twigloo' is a very spiffy word.

Toodles,

(The one and only) Eric.

How I love storms... [19 Nov 2003|05:26pm]
I love storms. It was really quiet and hot, like 37 degrees, and all of a sudden this thunder and hail starts up. I looked out the window and there's hailstones the size of golf balls bouncing off our lawn. So, me being the idiot I am, I went to stand outside in it, where I promptly got flung back into the door due to the gale force winds and my pathetic stature. It was cool though, and I bought a hailstone back inside. I then left it on the floor, much to the confusion of my brother, who was putting towels down in the hall.

It was all very cool, and pretty, so I took a photo of it (meaning I went outside once again). And now my brother is complaining that the cable TV channels aren't working, probably becuase the sattelite is filled with hail.

Anyway, I had a wonderfully boring day today. I got three frees though, since I fixed up my timetable, and I now have frees and Biology (with Mr Pope) with Jenny. So we spent our double free in the afternoon sitting in the library and reading about McDonalds, before doing back to the study room, where we made various comments about a certain school bitch who was sitting less than a metre away, yet was too dumb to realise who we were talking about. She then sat there twirling her car keys so they made a jingling noise, while Jenny, Anna and I glared.

But if there's one thing I hate (and Lord knows there's more than one thing), it's people who flaunt the fact that they have car keys. What kind of moron gets out their keys ten minutes before they get to the car? Sorry, I know that had very little relevance, but it's one of my many pet hates.

Meh. I really don't have much else to say. 4 days until I leave! Actually, I'm not that excited any more. People constantly asking me "aren't you excited?!" has had the reverse effect, making me really not care.

Oh well. I'm getting booted off the computer again (such is life), and I'm really quite hungry.

Tchüß! (Oh, variation from the usual farewell!)

Eric.

PS: Australian Idol final tonigh! Go Shannon!

PPS: I just had a really strong sense of déjà vu.

PPS: Davey Havok's birthday tomorrow! I know, I'm a hideous fangirl. Nevertheless, there shall probably be a birthday post tomorrow. Ahh, the superficial perks of fangirl-ish-ness.

Ahh, SACE, how I love thee. [18 Nov 2003|09:50pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

SACE is the greatest thing since... since that weird animation of the dancing purple hippo in a g-string (it's here, for anyone who hasn't seen it).

But it's just so easy and so much more useful than the IB (pratically everything they teach has little or no relevance in the real world). It's fantastic. And I now have better subjects that I actually enjoy doing, so I think that next year I'm going to make an effort and try to get good grades. Go me!

Anyway, I had to go to a meeting tonight for the German exchange, which pretty much sucked. We sat there while Mum and I (and various other people in the room) grumbled and insulted Mrs Watts. We then went into the staff room for various cultural foods such as Gummi Bears and Oreos, and we had our photos taken. Mrs Watts shoved me in the back of the photo since I didn't wear the hideous school "rugby top", so I refused to smile for her yearbook photo.

So, what else have I been doing since I last posted? Hmm... on Saturday we went to Crystal's party, where we spent the day on the beach trying to avoid looking at the trainwreck that is Crystal and her boyfriend. I went home with sunstroke, but fortunately I was pretty much the only one who didn't turn lobster-like in colour. On Sunday I did a whole lot of nothing while my mother packed my suitcase. And yesterday I revelled in the joys of SACE.

Well, I'd better go, Mum's kicking me off the computer.

Toodle pip!

Eric.

Vital organs... melting. Ability to construct full sentences... fading. [14 Nov 2003|10:02pm]
[ mood | hot ]

I'm so glad exams are over... and the stupid IB too!

So, as of next week, I am a SACE student, a title which brings with it all the delights of frees. I can't wait. My last exam was yesterday morning, Biology, and it pretty much sucked. They put our class isolated in the lab where you have to sit on stools, and the techer supervising us kept glaring at me. Halfway through the exam he went outside for a while, and everone just started talking. I finished the stupid thing within an hour of getting it, and spent the rest of the lesson drawing some hideous picture and trying not to laugh at Bret balancing a pen on his face.

But today I got to sit at home, which was actually incredibly boring and sucky. I spent my time making icons and watching Passions as Luis and Sheridan were reconciled in a swimming pool due to the power of the Bermuda triangle.

Only nine days now until I go to Germany. My mother keeps flapping around the house counting my underwear to see if I have enough, and trying to preach the benefits of wearing the hideous thermal undergarments my ever-so-practical grandmother bought me. And all year my mum has refused to buy me anything that can't be worn in Germany. So now that they weather has hit 37 degrees, I sit here wearing my jeans with the airconditioner on full blast trying to keep cool because "You can't wear shorts in Germany!" Grrr... at this rate, I will have either a) melted or b) boiled in my own sweat before I get to the airport.

I think I need an icy pole.

Toodles.

Eric.

I've got my maths exam first thing tomorrow morning, and you know what? I couldn't care less whether or not I fail. Of course, not failing isn't an option, since I just went over all the revision sheets that Super Bitch Clements gave us, and I've realised that I don't know anything about maths. And frankly, I don't really want to.

Dad's still babbling to himself about how I'm going to pass, but it's just a pathetic attempt to tell himself that I'm smarter than I really am. Oh well.

I'm really quite over exams all ready. Not that I ever enjoyed them, but I'm just sick of the concept.

*blinks* What the HELL...?

Does it make sense to you? No, me neither.

Bleh, I'm in a weird mood. I think it may be the lack of sleep or over consumption of packet pasta. And I keep finding the internet's weirdest slash. So, for the next installment of "Eric's disturbing slash archives", I bring you...

Davey Havok/Jeff Hardy slash. Yes, Jeff Hardy the wrestler. Poor Davey, he gets paired up with the weirdest people. If he ever found this stuff I bet he'd be terrified. I know I would be. Still, it's disturbingly intriguing.

Anyway, I'd better go try to cram some formulas and the like into my head.

I've got my frist exam this afternoon. German. I'm pretty lucky, it's an easy one, so that's an ok start to exam week.

I don't have to go to school until 12:40 though, which is very nice. It means I got to sleep in as much as possible, despite the fact that someone sent me a text message at 2:58 in the morning and woke me up. It said "Good luck for exams" and "Believe in yourself". I don't know who it was, but I'm annoyed at them. Who the hell sends a message at nearly three in the morning on the Sunday night before exams?

Oh well, I should probably go and try to learn those vocab words I haven't learned yet.

Stupid exams, I'm already sick of them.

[ music | Alkaline Trio- This Could Be Love. Wish I had that ringtone. ]

I hate those companies that charge God-knows-how-much-per-minute for ringtones.

Yes, I stupidly called one in a delusional state of excitement upon seeing in a magazine that I could get the ringtone for Antiskeptic's "Nothing To Say". So I sat there on the floor of my room pressing random buttons on the phone as the robot-man told me to. Then it's finally time to punch in the code for the ringtone, which I do as quickly as possible to save money, and then I hear robot man say, as slow as he possibly can...

"The... code... you... have... entered,... two... two... two... three... zero... six,... does... not... seem... to... be... available... Please... press... hash... and... try... aga-"

By this stage I forcefully hung up on him. But then again, I hardly think that pressing the "End call" button on a mobile with as much strength as one can muster has quite the same effect as slamming down the reciever.

And to top it off, I wasted nearly eight dollars on that one call, which took less than three minutes.

I hate them so much...

Eric.
