6:10p - if it ain't rainin'...
Last night a nice thunderstorm rolled into town. Complete with big fat bolts of lightning and me getting caught in a giant downpour after I finished watching Monster House. It wasn't the best of films but it only costed two dollars.
This morning was more of the same. Hoping we would somehow get out of training because of the dangerous weather, our dreams came true when we were told we weren't drawing weapons this morning. We had a class on convoys, then our DS told us because we didn't have plates in our IBAs at the range we would have to refire. Which isn't really a big deal because everyone loves to shoot ammo. Then we get to the arms room and the DS is pointing at us and laughing. OK, no he wasn't, but figuratively you get the picture. What he really had planned was a machine gun range. Now we're excited. But 50 rounds in a machine gun only lasts like 45 seconds so bliss is a thing of the past in the blink of an eye. Then things get back to normal. We go to where we always go and train like how we always train except that it's raining today so mud and shit stick all over you.
We're going out for our FTX tomorrow evening, the object of which will end Friday morning. At that time, I will be very happy and will feel a huge weight off of my shoulders. I will celebrate by going to out to eat dinner with as many friends as I can drag along and going to see the new film Crank starring Jason Statham, which we always says looks like one particular person I hang out with all the time. Until then I'll continue to not lose sight of the end of the tunnel!!
