I started reading Deathly Hallows last night! And I'm so excited! I absolutely did this the right way, by reading the entire series again before allowing myself to re-read Deathly Hallows, I've built up the anticipation so that I'm almost (but not quite) as excited about reading it this time as I was the first time.

BE WARNED - I AM GOING TO WRITE ABOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES FREELY HERE, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAG. THE LAST BOOK CAME OUT LAST SUMMER, AND IF YOU'VE NOT READ IT AND MANAGED TO STAY SPOILER FREE, THEN MAJOR KUDOS TO YOU. BUT IF THAT'S THE CASE,
READ NO FURTHER!

10:02 pm - Doctor Who Boxsets
FYI, Doctor Who seasons 2 & 3 are on sale on Amazon.co.uk for £34.98 each, the cheapest I've seen them anywhere in a loooong time. And season 1 is £28.48, but I've not been price-watching that since I already have it, so I don't know if that's good or not (but I suspect it is since the RRP is £69.99 - RIP OFF, BBC, do you hear me?!).

11:35 am - Harry Potter
I'm currently re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. The reason for this is that I told myself that I wasn't allowed to re-read Deathly Hallows until I'd done a mass reading of the whole thing. Never mind the fact that I've read thje earlier books about 6 or 7 times each already, I felt it was important to read the whole thing with a fresh view, now that I knew all the twists and turns. Of course, it's been over a year since I read Deathly Hallows and I can't remember the details, but it's been good all the same.

Anyway, my plan was to finish a book, then write down any additional thoughts I had on that book, however brief, since I've probably expanded at length on them already. It's not quite worked out that way. I just finished Goblet of Fire this morning, and I've yet to write anything, even though I know I've come across things where I've thought "Oh, I must mention that!", But now I can't remember most of them. I'll see if I can try and scrounge some various thoughts on the first three books, then write about Goblet of Fire.

Some musing on the first four Harry Potter books )

I think that's all for now. If I think of anything else, I'll try to remember to write it down write away. Now, onto The Order of The Phoenix.

Note to self: make an entry regarding Harry Potter and Lost in Austen.

It's too late tonight to do it, but I figure if I make this entry for you all to see it, I might guilt myself in to actually writing. For example, I've been meaning to write about Harry Potter for months, but keep putting it off, and now can't remember half the stuff I meant to write about. Oh well.

I was watching an old episode of Gilmore Girls last night, and who should pop up (as an extra with 2 lines) but Masi Oka, Hiro from Heroes! I just found it weird that he was en extra in the show that Milo Ventimiglia was in. OK, so it's not really that weird since Hollywood is supposed to be a very small place, and it wasn't even like Milo was in Gilmore Girls at the time. But Masi did have an exchange with Rory, and the actress who plays her went out with Milo in real life as well as on the show, and I just thought it cool that when then Milo and Masi started Heroes together, he might have been like, "Oh yeah, I met your ex-girlfriend once".

Yeah, I've thought about this way too much.

This is a brilliant website. It's a photography website dedicated to Glasgow, and the images are outstanding. I miss Glasgow.

I've kind of been out of the loop on the Harry Potter fandom lately, not been checking websites or listening to podcasts, stuff like that. The news that the film has been pushed back kind of reignited my interest though, so I've been over at the Leaky Cauldron (they've started touring Pottercast again, did you know that?), and I just found this picture of the Unbreakable Vow (click the picture to embiggen to hi-res). It looks so good! My god, why did the WB push it back?!

EDIT

Aaw, bless!

Andrew Lloyd Webber is turning 60 soon, and is having his birthday commemorated by a big gala in Hyde Park celebrating his work. I may have taken a strong dislike to the man during I'd Do Anything, but I still love his musicals, so sue me. Guests include Lee Mead, Elaine Paige, Idina Menzel, Steve Balsamo, Duncan James, Rhydian Jones, Joss Stone, Hayley Westenra and Julian Lloyd Webber. And it's going to be presented by JOHN BARROWMAN! And tickets only cost £25! Sounds awesome, no?

Unfortunately, the concert is on the 14th September, 10 days before my exam, so I very much doubt I'll be making it. It totally sucks. Great things always seem to be in September. I've always wanted to go to the last night of the Proms, but they've always been rght before my exams. Boo! Anyway, I digress.

I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else wanted to go. And you totally should.

Rocky Horror movie to be remade.

Am I the only person who thinks this is a bad, bad idea?

Some people are really sick, you know that? The link takes you to a CBC article about a fundamentalist church in Kansas that intends to picket the funeral of a young Canadian man who was murdered on a Greyhound bus last week. They believe that his killing was "God's response to Canadian policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and adultery". From the article:

"God is punishing Canada for passing laws against WBC — by exposing Canadians as cannibals and highway decapitaters," the church says in a news release on its website, which refers to McLean as "The Headless Canadian."

How sick must these people be to want to disturb a grieving family, on the day of the funeral no less?! To just want to cause pain and hurt on completely innocent people. It makes my heart hurt just thinking about what they'll go through at the funeral.

And I can't see any link between this poor young guy and the issues that they're protesting. It's just so arbitrary.

I really hate people sometimes.

With thanks for Laurie for the heads up, all three acts of Dr Horrible are available to view on Hulu (but I don't know how long for).

I finally got to see Act III! Yay!

I'm going to attempt this album by year meme that Dave did, but I'm using iTunes, where some of the years applied to albums are slightly suspect. Against my better judgement, I'm going to exclude most compilations (unless they're listed as under one year in iTunes), but I can't guarantee I'll exclude musicals. If I exclude both those categories, I'm cutting out at least half my collection! I'll try to limit the musicals though, unless I really can't find anything else.

I'm not going to be able to watch Act III of Dr Horrible before they take it off the internet on Sunday night, unless I come all the way into the office at the weekend, becase the sound doesn't work on my internet at home! Oh, woe is me!

Does anyone know if/when it will become available on UK iTunes, or when they're releasing the DVD?

Why has no-one mentioned the temporary WD on blurty or in blogs?! Or have I just missed it? I've been offline for a while, so I may have missed the entries.

I kept going to my Control Panel and getting the error page still, and my pants were sad. Then all my favourites got wiped at work today, and I had to save them all again. That's the only reason I went to the Main Index, and lo, a temporary WD! How I've missed you!

Heroes season 2 is only 11 episodes long?! What the hell's up that!

I actually know it was the writer's strike, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about it.
